“Police in Denver are looking for information about the murder of a 14-year-old boy whose body was found near a baseball field at the Southwest Recreation Center on Monday afternoon.

Josiaz “JoJo” Aragon was found dead at the rec center, located at 9200 West Saratoga Place, around 1:15 p.m. Monday, according to Denver police and Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.”

[...]

“Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and police are asking anyone with information to call 720-913-7867 immediately.”

The DPD is not releasing manner of death at this time. I have heard ‘rumors’ from a fellow colleague in the medical community whom I trust, but obviously won’t bring them here for a multitude of reasons. I 100% agree that there are MULTIPLE individuals who know what happened, getting them to speak up will be difficult. I would not be the least bit surprised if there ends up being a gang component to this tragedy.

As if his murder wasn’t horrific enough: “JoJo would have turned 15 on Wednesday, Aug. 10, police said.”
14-year-old boy killed at Denver recreation center

Any word on manner of death? If it's homicide, I can't imagine that other juveniles don't know what happened. It was at a rec center!

Edit by me: horrid distracted typing grammar

“Police initially called the scene a death investigation before saying it was a homicide, though they have not released details of how they believe the boy was killed.

Denver Police Department spokesperson Doug Schepman said Aragon had signs of trauma on his body but would not elaborate, saying the official cause and manner of death would be released by the medical examiner’s office.”

“As the search for the suspect who murdered 14-year-old Josiaz "Jojo" Aragon continues, authorities are releasing more details about his death. The coroner confirms that the teen was stabbed, beaten and shot.”

“The Denver OME said Thursday morning Aragon’s manner of death was homicide and his cause of death was “multiple sharp and blunt force injuries with a gunshot wound.”

DPD spokesperson Doug Schepman said Wednesday Aragon did not live in the area and that investigators had not figured out the connection to the rec center. He said police believe he was killed in the place his body was found.”

As family, friends hold vigil, mystery deepens a week after 14-year-old's violent death in Denver | Crime & Justice | denvergazette.com
“One of the greatest mysteries surrounding the teen’s violent death was the silence when it happened, just after 1 pm on a hot Monday afternoon. Around the time Aragon was taking his last breath, no one heard a scuffle or a shout even though he was beaten, stabbed and shot.

Just 25 yards from the baseball diamond down a winding sidewalk, a lifeguard who was on duty for the rec center’s free swim period told Denver Police that he heard a “pop” – but no voices.

A neighbor whose backyard is within earshot of the baseball diamond said her husband was home after lunch on Aug. 8, but he didn’t hear anything, and besides that, her dog didn’t react, even though he “usually barks at the sound of fireworks,"...”

From the above link there's an interview with someone who 'raised the teen for several years'. Last time he saw him was on the 4th July, but goes on to say "A gentleman in a car had picked him up earlier that day....or that evening, the evening before..."

Possibly information he's got from the family, as LE, I don't believe, have given many details.

BBM, umm, how odd.

Josiaz Dartagnian Aragon

August 10, 2007 ~ August 8, 2022
The time has come to let you go; here on earth, you no longer sow.

Your laughter, your smile, your energy too, are just a few of the things we will miss of you.

Rest in peace our shining star for we'll love you rather near or far. Our Hearts will swell because we only had you for a spell. The memories you left are brighter and will linger, and with that our love is higher.

“Faith, Hope, Live.” These are some of the attributes of Josiaz Dartagnian Aragon, affectionately known as JoJo. JoJo was goofy, spontaneous, intelligent, spiritual, and very family oriented.

Born in Thornton, Colorado, Friday, August the 10th, 2007, to mother Autumn Aragon and Father Saad Dominguez. Josiaz became a big brother to his mother’s daughter, Annabel, and later his father’s side gifted him with brothers Daniel and Saad Dominguez, and Leroy Arellano.

Josiaz was educated in the Jefferson County school district. He attended Jeffco Head Start, Arvada K-8, Samuels Elementary (Denver), Foster Elementary, Fitzmorris Elementary, Carmody Middle, and Bear Creek High School.

JoJo enjoyed being a teenager and relished in what teenagers want- video games. He especially loved Madden and GTA. Mexican food was Jojo’s favorite, but he would eat almost anything you put in front of him including spaghetti and ranch! Then he would want what was on your plate too! When grocery shopping was done and the groceries were unloaded, JoJo would be in the kitchen snacking on all the goodies brought from the store.

His love and interest for physical activity was shown at an early age. At two years old he was already doing more push-ups than what most grown men could do, and most of the time he did them one handed. Jojo’s passion for physical activity was evident by his participation in multiple sports and activities such as football, wrestling and boxing. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling in all he did.

When it came to music JoJo was a renaissance man loving everything from Oldies, 90’s- current R&B to old school country and, of course, new school rap. One of his favorite songs was Tennessee Whiskey by country legend George Jones.

One could say Josiaz was a lover of many things, but most of all his family was his priority. Josiaz’s love for his sister began while she was in the womb. He was just one year old when he would ask his mom to pick him up so he could rub her belly, comforting his baby sister. Their love was apparent from the beginning. He always looked out for Annabel, affectionately calling her “Sister.” He rarely called her by her legal name. He was her protector and always was concerned about her. Josiaz was faithful and loved his mother. He looked up to her for her joy, laughter and resilience. Josiaz reflected his mother in the way he always saw the positive in life and the adventure of each new day. He would sing country songs to his mom with all of his heart, taking her to the living room to dance with her. He often could be found cuddling with her and his sister. Their bond was a beautiful thing to watch. He found strength from these women in his life. His whole being cared about taking care of them. Jojo’s happiness was being surrounded by his family. He was raised with all of his cousins. They were more than relatives, they were his siblings whom he cherished and protected. He was the life of the party, full of energy with a contagious smile. The joy he experienced and the laughter that he enjoyed and brought was treasured in the hearts of the people he touched.

It was in late summer of the year 2022, the month of August, on a Monday, the 8th day, that JoJo's laughter fell silent. We can never love someone as much as we will miss them, and JoJo will truly be missed.

Moreover, JoJo's reminiscences will reverberate in the lives of those he touched. The ones that he loved and the ones that loved him. Josiaz Aragon is survived by his parents, Autumn Aragon and Saad Dominguez, siblings; Annabel Aragon, Leroy Arellano, Daniel and Saad Dominguez and all of his relatives and friends.

"What was he doing so far from home?" one friend asked.

Another said his parents were frantic because he was missing for hours on the day he was killed.

Boy, 14, killed in SW Denver died of gunshot wound, stab and blunt force injuries, medical examiner says

Aragon would have turned 15 on Wednesday. Schepman added that Aragon’s family lives in north Denver and it’s currently “undetermined” why he was in the far southwest neighborhood.

“There has not been a direct link to Jojo and the rec center,” Schepman said. “We are still working to understand why he was in this area and with whom.”
Denver police ask for help in murder investigation of 14-year-old

Was he lured there or taken there? What could be the motive to murder a 14/15 year old kid? Predator? Met while gaming online? That is all I can really speculate at this point. Why was he there? Did he go there willingly? SO many qustions.
