The fly in the ointment is the phone ping over Gooding, Idaho. I had a what-if moment ... If this phone ping is accurate, could Kelsey have turned her phone on during a flight to send the texts and then turned it off when she had finished - would be sensible thing to do in a plane. It's the hitching a ride in a plane that remains a mystery, imo. Perhaps someone was not supposed to take 'hitchhikers' on a work trip and has remained silent.
Phone/computer records would have to reveal a contact if this were the case.

I wonder if LE has checked with the little regional airports .There are a lot if little FBO s that are not manned 24/7. They do have security gates and cameras

I could also see the family throwing out that hypothesis, about where she might be headed, without having to be prompted.

When someone is missing and you are desperate to find them, you are exploring even unlikely avenues. If one of my siblings disappeared on the holiday and their phone pinged somewhere in between their home and a faraway state where we had family, it would definitely occur to me that they could’ve been en route to a family member’s home.

BTW, I actually think siblings might be the best person to speak to. My siblings know things about my adult life that we didn’t tell my parents—just so they wouldn’t worry or bc we knew they wouldn’t approve. So they could better judge what might be within the spectrum of actions I would consider than my parents or other relatives.

Yes, but that was after they discovered she was missing and found out about the ping in Idaho. They were trying to make sense of the ping but had no inkling that she had plans to travel to Soap Lake.
MOO

Then why was Kansas ever mentioned of a place familiar to her. Perhaps you have an opinion on what happened while I'm still piecing things together. :)

The only conclusion that I draw from PF hiring a lawyer is that he thought that he was going to need one, nothing else.
Would love to know when he hired his lawyer, timing is important in this case, imo.

So random thoughts.......but looking at KB’s FB she appears to have been a planner (reference to a BBQ) so I’m highly doubting if she was truly headed to Soap Lake she did not plan or tell anyone.
Especially with a small child.

From what I've read thus far, PF is the only person to have told anyone that KB broke up with him on Thanksgiving. He's also the only one that has said that she was taking a trip. Am I mistaken?

I suspect PF's text messages and voicemails will be quite revealing. I also have a sneaking suspicion that there is another woman involved. This feels very familiar. It is far too easy to paint a picture of an impetuous young mother ending a relationship, abandoning her child, and then going AWOL so she can regroup. I just don't buy it. MOO.

Even with another woman, there is no motive.
Just look at it from a conventional standpoint.
Two people get together and there is pregnancy. Happens. Mom is religious. There is a kid. They move close, both are in kid's life, both carry on with lives/careers, there is a formal/informal parenting plan, no marriage officially on the way, they live separately. There is no divorce in case of another woman. Both participate in child rearing. No domestic violence.
No reason to kill, in my opinion. Anything can be resolved. The guy is spending more money on a criminal lawyer now than he would have spent on any family lawyer.

This Heavy article says she had ties to Kansas. I don't know what ties there are, if any, and I don't remember Kansas being mentioned anywhere else. This would be better answered by our VI, @Kelsey's Aunt.

"Kelsey has ties to the Pacific Northwest as well as Kansas."

I watched the press conference. When the D.A. mentioned "custody exchange", it seemed certain to me that their loving relationship may have been something far less than what had previously been suggested. What now boggles my mind is the Cinnamon Rolls. I'm twice her size and love food (smile) and yet I've never made myself cinnamon rolls. Not for a family of one. To me it sounds like she had plans to take them somewhere, or to someone. Who? It didn't seem she had plans with the fiancee.
