A police officer was among six people killed during shooting at a grocery store Monday in Boulder, Colorado, according to reports.

A suspect has been arrested, although his identity is not yet known.

A possible second suspect was reportedly on the phone with police following the shooting, and SWAT Team members were reportedly descending on a second location on 17th Street in Boulder.

Some reports said some hostages may have been taken.

Four or five additional victims needed to be treated at scene after police and the suspect exchanged gunfire, according to reporter Eric Wasserman.

There was no official confirmation of the exact number of casualties as the chaos continued to unfold.

The suspect was reportedly armed with a rifle, possibly an AR-15.

At least one man was taken into custody, although it was unclear whether this individual was the gunman.

It made me sick transcribing the scanner and I luckily stopped right before it was thankfully taken offline. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again — after all these years of wishing most metro areas had scanners public, and transcribing activity before, there’s a very fine line between being comfortable with what is going on and jeopardizing a potential scene. I learned a big lesson in my own need for details. Listening in is one thing, but transcribing for the public to read is another. It isn’t sitting right with me even though I know I didn’t do anything “wrong.” Some things hit different than others.

Yes it can be wrenching and frightening. WS keeps the scanner transcripts and all that separate and private to signed in members for good reasons. Remember folks, no scanner chat on the main forum threads.

It must be so difficult to try to hold a press conference when the public wants to know everything, but so little is known to tell at this point. It’s just an impossible horrible tragic situation and nothing can make it better. I am so sad.
