Who are you refering to, Fairy? Anyone in particular?
Hi ya'll. Haven't been here for a while as I don't care much for being scolded and belittled for my contributions to these cases. I would like to mention that the poster who has come here to defend himself was not defined as a POI on this board, but long before Roger's case was begun here. Just a little FYI.
I got to thinking today about a teacher my younger brother had in high school. I believe he was a history teacher and also coached the boy's varsity baseball team - though a less athletic person would be difficult to find. Anyhoo, he often had his MALE students over to his home to "study." It always bothered me and I never thought it was appropriate. I kept a pretty close eye on my little brother back in the day and he knew I didn't care for this guy. None of our boys ever went missing, but years later, I saw this same teacher on Dateline or 60 Minutes or some such show. He had been arrested as a child predator! He had long since left our school district, but that was actually the basis of the report. He just moved from one city/state to another as soon as things got heated or someone was questioning his behavior. None of the districts in which he taught ever did anything about it, they just allowed him to move on and on and on. Lord knows how many kids he hurt along the way.
Sadly, my big brother was introduced to pot by his trigonometry/theater teacher. Ironically, these things occurred in the same period during which Roger went missing.
My point is, it's not outside the realm of reality for teachers to be a bad or dangerous influence on their students. Particularly in the early 1980's, when parents weren't really as vigilant as they are now.
No amount of pontificating will change the known facts of this case, as few as they may be. Either one of the scenarios I'm relating here about my brothers could have created more than one horrible outcome. KWIM?
Case in point: Current case in Oviedo, Florida...happened a couple weeks ago.
"An Oviedo High School teacher resigned Wednesday after admitting she gave alcohol and her sport-utility vehicle to a student later arrested in a drunken-driving crash, a Seminole County Public Schools spokeswoman said."
