CW was sloppy because he ran out of time due to the unplanned flight delay. CW probably already killed the girls and had no other option but to continue with the original plan albeit in a time constraint hence the sloppiness. Having a sloppy crime/crime scene doesn't mean it wasn't premeditated or planned.
This is exactly what I think happened. I think girls were killed on the 12th when SW couldn't stop him and CW anticipated SW being home much earlier so he would have all night to dispose, stage scene, get a little sleep and head off to work at his normal time.

Instead he had to "finish the job" in the middle of the night and then wait to leave for work while it was still dark, but not too early/suspicious.

There are plenty who've hid bodies in their houses. I think CW felt that inside the tanks was just a place far removed from the house, a 'safe' hiding place.

Remember how many times he said "I hope they're somewhere safe". I think he meant "I hope the hiding place is safe enough that they won't be found".

And in one part he says (may not be exact as I'm going by memory)

I hope they're somewhere safe...because that means they're coming back

I would interpret that as him checking himself...why would he have to explain to anyone why he hopes they're somewhere safe? Perhaps because his real reason for hoping they're 'somewhere safe' isn't actually "because that means they're coming back" but because it means they won't be found and he won't get caught?

A more 'normal' thing to say might be "I hope they're somewhere safe...and not being hurt by some psychopathic kidnapper".
Reading this, it just hit me why he may have reported they had an emotional argument. He could say she was so upset she took off with the kids to an undisclosed location. That could buy him days to let things settle before anyone started seriously looking.

Not seeing weird or creepy.
The film has an unusual amateur quality - the crickets sound etc.

I think they're in an awkward position and they are uncomfortable.
Imagine this was you, the Watts had been your close friends until a few days before( the couple shared holidays and Amanda was a 12K thriver, the husband ran with CW) and you now had to talk about your friends' deaths, their marriage & about one of them as a killer & justify why you'd defended them earlier. It wouldn't be easy to do that on TV

Unfortunately I have been in this position where I have had to be interviewed, except it was my Aunt and Uncle who were murdered, it was my family and it was an awful, tragic situation but I wasn't creepy...IDK what it is but these people strike me as off.

But he didn't run out of time. She got home 3.5 hours before he left. That is plenty of time to put people in bags, load them, grab her purse, meds, and sheets.

Unfortunately this person is either simply an internet troll seeking attention or a relative of CW seeking validation or a person hired by the defense team to gather information, working theories and to test their proposed theories on the public to gage their reactions.

Maybe we should start liking the most dumb ones then? Lol

That’s why this all points to heat of the moment.

maybe it's a loyalties issue- why they're uncomfortable and why you're picking up on that. They don't know how much they should say?

I agree.

It's sort of difficult to sleuth a man with slow brain. But doing my best, I think his original plan was to claim that she voluntarily left. So he unnecessarily mentioned the 'emotional conversation' to the officers. EXCEPT there was no evidence whatsoever that Shanann took off with the girls.

What an idiotic thing to say. I'm starting to feel sorry for his defense attorneys.

New member here...still learning the rules. Thanks for your patience.

I went to watch his interview with the reporter and I had audio issues. It may sound weird but I decided to watch the full thing without audio. wow!
You would NEVER guess he was talking about his missing family. Without audio, it looks like he is talking about anything; HOA, sports, home prices in CO....anything except his missing family.
Creepy.
Or trying to pick up a woman, was my reaction.

She was most definitely sucked in deep to the MLM. The thing about them is that for a few they work well as a source of revenue but for most they just get sucked in. She seemed to do fine. But he sold the stuff and got a free car payment too, so I can’t imagine he would kill over it. I mean, maybe he was jealous of her sales? That is the extent I can see it being a factor.

Now, this is just my opinion, but I don’t think he cared that much. I think he went along for the ride and posed for the photos, but I think she was the one who was motivated to be successful at it. It’s my opinion that he was a pretty good marketing tool because he was good-looking and had a good transformation from chubby to very fit.

I think she did the writing of the IG posts and on FB (if he did use his FB to promote Thrive). If she had decided to quit, I don’t think he would have stayed in the game.

Believe me when I say that he is making it easy for his defense attorneys to sleep at night.

I don't know how CW thought he would get away with the story, "She must have just left with the kids".

SW was very close with her family, friends, posting on SM. No one would have believed that story, if that was his plan.

and that's why he was really upfront w Nicola - he wanted that put that out there as the reason. She replied wtte - I'm not really interested in your marital angst at the moment , I'm worried where my sick friend and the kids are. ( She refused to focus on the deflection as it wasn't priority. He was pretending that he could sit and wait for her to come back etc before LE got busy)

He wanted it out there in the public domain via the interviews too - " emotional conversation." When the journalist asked "Did you have an argument" he could have just said "No." Let's face it he lied about almost everything else. He wanted it left hanging but out there.
