At this point I’m only believing what the DA has to say.

I'm pissed off that the judge didn't do sentencing on the same day he plead guilty.

It's obvious that he will get life without parole. Plus they had everyone there to say their peace but wasn't allowed since the judge decided to extend the sentence phase.

So why did the judge decide he needed 2 weeks before sentencing?

The judge could have scheduled sentencing that day or the next since everyone had to travel that far. Jmo

I have heard of 2, is this the one that is a lawyer? Or is it just one that is that name? I have never listen to anything outside of this website so I'm not familiar with what a lot of people are. Is this the lawyer from Colorado?

I'm sure there are other reasons, but the one that stands out to me is that family members may wish to give victim impact statements. They should be allowed time not only to make that decision but to prepare their statement(s). MOO

Cindy clearly had a bad relationship with SW way before this all happened. In her head right now it’s probably all Shanann’s fault, she changed him, she pushed him to this, she got inside his head. She’s his mother at the end of the day he’s her baby boy, she watched him learn to walk and talk and become a man. She can’t and probably will never be able to accept that he’s wiped out his whole family, bit like Casey Anthony’s mum who will never ever accept that her daughter killed her granddaughter. It must be something about mothers because CA’s dad accepts it now, maybe CW’s father could see the truth eventually. But for a mother to see your child’s name plastered over papers and the news as ‘murderer’, all you’d be able to think of was the son/daughter you brought into this world watched grow and love more than anything.
At the same time Cindy could have had the tiniest bit of decency and said she’s disgusted and ashamed by her son’s actions, actually mentioned how much of a living nightmare it’s been to lose her grandchildren and how much she will forever hate what her son did but that she cannot hate him herself being his mother, she will always be there for him. It’s how cold and how they are completely ignorant to the fact that 4 innocent lives were lost that’s getting to me.

And yet, they asked the local television station to blur out their faces, instead of standing up for their son to be seen by all their peers in their community.

That's right. And sentencing is generally not done on the same day as the plea. In fact I've never heard that happen.

My guess is that she was just too strong for Cindy’s liking. She represented a threat to her dominance, and subverted her influence.

Cindy apparently craves control, and we’ve seen what happens when she loses her grasp on it. These news interviews are indicative of what happens when she doesn’t have her say, or get her way.

Shannan’s only crime was not letting people, especially Cindy, step all over her.

I hope this is okay to say. I read something earlier today that it was written in NC by CW on his mother’s computer which has been verified as to date, etc. It was supposedly witnessed by a few people!
So, where has this letter and witnesses been hiding! Disturbing!

Yes, it was during his visit to NC with his sister and mom present. Why was it not turned over on Day 1?

In many (all?) cases, there is a post-verdict pre-sentence investigation completed by the court system ensuring that any sentencing ranges suggested are appropriate and verifying the defendant's criminal history which could also have an impact on sentencing range and enhancements. Sometimes the available sentence changes between the verdict and the sentencing hearing based on the investigation, even when the prosecutor has ensured that a certain range or penalty will be available. I've had disturbing personal experience with this when it comes to "life without parole" in a violent crime case.

She existed? I think some types of parents wouldn't like a potential in law unless he or she is a very meek person they can control.

My aunt (by marriage) is like that. She loathes my cousin's wife. My aunt is also a borderline. She would hate anyone he married unless she they were super deferential to her.

Unfortunately, my cousin married a very strong woman. I will admit that in the beginning she wasn't as respectful and considerate of my aunt as she could be. But she was very young and a lot was going on in her life at the time. She has apologized many, many times for that.

But my aunt doesn't care. Every last decision my cousin and his wife make is criticized and it's ALL the wife's fault.

My aunt makes the same statements. That my cousin is being controlled. He's being henpecked. I mean just things about how much they exercise, what they eat, the fact that they have their kids on strict schedules, how they decorate, where the kid goes to school, over and over and over. It's all wrong and it's all supposedly driven by my cousin's wife.

And yeah. She's a strong woman. She's opinionated. But my cousin and his wife are totally a team.

I remember getting so fed up with the constant criticism about her and their relationship that I sort of snapped at my aunt one day and said "He's happy. Stop complaining. Instead he could have cancer. I don't want to hear it anymore."

She's isolated herself because she is so bitter and no one wants to hear the negativity. Those of us who do spend time with her still will stop her in her tracks when she starts complaining about my cousin's wife.

Oh there's so much more. Thank God she never successfully enmeshed my cousin.

Inhumane treatment at the hands of the Public Defenders?? Huh? Does the mom even know that the public defenders are not the same as the prosecuting attorneys? He has legal representation! He is not being coerced. And they don't have any facts for these accusations other than he didn't want to talk to his mother.
