This psychologist doesn't seem to be well versed in body language.

Here's a great chart I just googled up, the negative/deceptive side SCREAMS him in all of the interviews he did!
Did you look up his credentials? Dr. Max Wachtel.

Max Wachtel
Dr. Max Wachtel has spent a lot of time in jail. Mostly as a visitor, not an inmate.

A forensic psychologist by training, Dr. Max has a clinical practice where he conducts evaluations of criminal offenders for the courts and private attorneys. Since 2001, when he graduated from the University of Denver with a doctorate in counseling psychology, he has worked with individuals ranging from those with normal adjustment difficulties to psychopathic first-degree murderers. Out of the more than 2,400 people he has evaluated, he has only feared for his life once.

eta: And THEN I watched. smh

I haven't listened to all of this yet, but this was interesting:
"Sometimes when you're in a relationship and your relationship starts to deteriorate, a child could help repair it."

Yikes! I've always been a firm believer (based on my own experience + 50 years of observation) that in general what ever is going on in your life, a baby will amplify it -- through no fault of the baby, of course. Happy, close couples experience increased happiness, closeness. Stressed couples experience more stress. Of course, there are exceptions (loss of job, illness, complicated pregnancy, etc.). I know too many people who have had babies to "save" their marriage only to split not long after. Just my opinion.

Sorry if already discussed I have to keep taking long breaks from here but was Chris ever married prior.
Also watching his youtube video he just seems like a normal average guy which makes this so much more scary.
You just know really know people, it's not like there is a long history of dv.

This awful case reminds me a lot of cases I’ve followed (to their tragic conclusions) recently; Crystal McDowell and Kat West.

Average men who are married to dynamic, energetic women. They seem, IMO, to be attracted to their wives’ vivaciousness and popularity, but they come to resent it. It seems that they want to control these women and kill them when they inevitably can’t. And then they wind up confessing.

CW took it a step further and murdered his own babies.

It was ordered. They want their chance to bring in their experts and be present. Someone educated me on here about Colorado not always having doctors who are trained forensically, who conduct these things. I do recall a case we had of a girl who died in her room in Colorado and her mom felt it was gang stalking. I remember there was a lot of discussion about ME's vs coroners and what qualifications you have to have in Colorado but I can't remember everything.

So sometimes I guess the defense has reason to want their experts involved.

Thanks. Weld Co. has an appointed Coroner who contracts the

autopsies out to Medical Examiners.

I haven't been able to find any post-High School information regarding his education.

Watts graduated from Pine Forest High School, in Fayetteville, in 2003. According to the high school year book, he was part of the patriotic page and was into automotive repairs. Colorado authorities say they have found body of missing NC native :: WRAL.com

Student loans are mentioned here, but it's not clear if they were SW's or CW's or both.

Chris and Shanann Watts jointly sought Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in June 2015 after amassing more than $70,000 of debt for unpaid credit cards, medical bills and student loans. Financial issues plagued Chris and Shanann Watts 3 years before alleged killings

And student loans aren't discharged in bankruptcy. They still have them.

Can anyone share some information from this link? I’m access denied

I'm so grateful to Kelsie for the link. I usually eat this stuff up. But a couple minutes in I turned it off. Psychologist doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. He watched part of the interview and then asked if it was before he confessed. Then he talked about how there were no signs of deception and he seemed genuinely concerned about his family.

I turned it off then.

That still doesn't mean he's good at what he does. That's from his linkedin...which HE wrote. LOL I stand by my impression that he wasn't very good at seeing the clues that this guy wasn't on the up and up in this interview.

It's a video of a reporter and a psychologist watching and analyzing a video of CW.

Good point! I checked him out first and then watched. I should have done it in the reverse order. Yikes.

That was kind of a dumb question on the part of the psychologist however: "So this was before he confessed?"

Uh, he's outside. Free. So yeah.

Also, he saw no tells and felt the guy seemed genuinely concerned. In the meantime the rest of the world was buzzing with the red flags he was throwing up.

Right! That's why I thought it was so interesting. The psychologist is just like, "Wow, what a good actor!" And I disagree entirely with that

Or another scenario I've seen is when the couple married,
she "seemed" to defer to a patriarchal husband but as she matured and grew, she also realized she wanted more out of life
that maybe her 'ordinary' husband could not provide.
Her successes in the business world dimished his view of himself as 'the provider'.
She 'outgrew' her husband in many ways.

I mentioned this before, I swear I hear him say (on the video announcement) "I guess when you want it, it happens".....totally gave me the vibe that he was almost giving her a dig.....she wanted it....not so much him (regardless of what she may have put out on SM.....that probably falls under the category of furthering the facade of the perfect happy life)

that kinda fits with the long interview where the male in that marriage (when asked if he C talked about her being pregnant. He said no

But his wife knew all about it .

Classic!

Men with men are task orientated- the DO activities together!

Ladies ,generally speaking are sharing their lives with each other! Talking!

In terms of long term relationships where lets say the husband has a night with his friends

and then the wife has a night with her friends

when the husband gets back from his night out with the guys - the lady asks so what did you talk about?

He says nothing! Wife feels shut out

When the wife comes back from her night with the gals he asks what did you all do?

She says "nothing"

He feels left out!

But both answers are correct!!

When the dude returns and if the wife asked what did you guys DO - he would carry on and on we worked out then bowled tom got a 254 i beat him at 264!!

WHen the wife returns and if the husband asked what did you all TALK about she would carry on the her friends need braces and Molly told me XXXX and sue said...........................

ha

generally speaking men don't hang around and talk they do !!!!!!!!!!!

Woman generally catch up with each via talking!!!!!!!!!

its all in the question

so it made sense to me , in the interview when the husband said no C never told him anything about her being pregnant!

I saw that quote somewher because it reminded me of Casey Anthony backing into her driveway and those jurors not being able to put all those pieces together and it made me mad all over again that she got away with killing HER daughter.

I actually think they knew. They just really wanted to go home.

He may have a lot of credentials but he doesn't seem to have a lot of smarts. Heck the whole world practically, after watching the interviews was going, "Oh. Shoot. He did it."

Lots of people take public speaking classes just to do it. But it's also a general education requirement for most degree programs, so whether or not he actually earned a degree, if he was ever enrolled in college, this is probably what it was for. I was thinking he might have been an online student and had to record himself giving a speech for the class.

He obviously wasn't good at giving speeches (or even doing adequate research, hence his "a kid will save the relationship" idea lol), but still had to take the class.

It appears to be in a kitchen. It reminded me of the types of things Travis Alexander did. Travis was killed by Jodi Arias.

Interestingly he has been hired as an expert for the defense in 60% of his 50 times he has testified.

So far, what I've seen of the psychologist interview is not insightful at all. I am wary of reading too much into people's words, actions, nonverbal cues, etc. when they're suspected of something, but CW shifts on his feet, smiles, and talks about his missing family like he's talking about a flat tire. That could be attributed to shock, but it seems out of place for a man who can't find his wife and kids.
