What constitutes a cold case? Passage of time? No new tips? No suspect? No POI?
If prosecutors typically keep victim families in the know, what happens if a family member is a primary POI?
Barry is Suzanne's next of kin. We saw it play out in his successful bid for guardianship.
Barry's defense team(s) are trying hard to highlight the cold case status as if LE has no idea what happened to Suzanne, mystified about her murder, with no POI in sight. What did his one attorney call it? Irrelevant and not true, that Barry was still being investigated? Laughable. If it were funny.
This $15M farce was all about appearances. Taking advantage of fractures in long held immunity protections in order to promote a false narrative of wrongful arrest. There was no wrongful arrest.
Settlements would bolster the appearance, except so far there've only been dismissals, with more lined up IMO.
All serving to delay arrest.
IMO if Barry were arrested today, his DT would burn the presses with motions to suppress testimony of defendants in the $15M case due to bias, conflict of interest, etc.
When this gets to trial, the DT will probably do everything they can to refer to these defendants/the lawsuit in order to shade the jury. Imply wrongdoing, how ever unfounded.
As it stands now, I imagine LE and the State are only divulging to Barry what, by any law they must, while keeping the active investigation close to the chest.
This talk about a second autopsy? That's chess. Barry is next of kin, the remains have been released (even if he's left them on the shelf), IMO he needs permission from no one to submit for a second one. Doesn't need to make a public statement about it. Not him, not his attorneys. Just hire it done.
Yeah, he's not going to do that. Because a second autopsy will confirm the first.
IE is only SAYING it to make it sound like the first autopsy is questionable.
Funny that, because it sounds like she was in full agreement with the caffeine finding and looks like the BAM too -- demanding the State look at local ranchers with current scripts for BAM. Doubling down, because Barry hasn't had a fresh script for BAM for years, as if he wouldn't use expired product.

No one but the murderer would stage the bike ride.

It's merely about timing now.
