Today was like a cheap television show presented by the defense. It felt like a trial and not a preliminary.

I am truly sorry SM got wrapped up in an affair she started, with a man who had a wife and six children. And now their lives are crap!

And sending nude photos at their ages? I thought immature young people did that.
The prosecution got off to a really bad start in allowing the defense to take over.

That said, I am hoping the prosecution pulls it together and proves BM murdered his wife. I think that’s what this preliminary was supposed to be about. After such a boring day, my senses are dull and I just need sleep. I waited for this?!

I feel so very, very sorry for Suzanne’s family and friends and daughters and what they had to endure today.

This is to address those who feel free to condemn Suzanne for this affair, whether emotional or physical or both.
Suzanne isn't missing, she's dead, IMO.
If she's dead, someone killed her.
The state believes she's dead and the person who killed her is BM. So do I.
Witness accounts and text msgs describe severe emotional and physical abuse perpetrated by BM for years, at least.
I can't understand the outrage directed at a woman who not only endured years of abuse but WAS MURDERED by the man who made her life a living hell.
IMO IMO IMO IMO
No outrage. Just temporary disappointment. Hoping BM faces swift justice!

I am feeling the same. And I want to throw my phone against the wall. I desperately want to hear this guy say he also loved Suzanne and it was real. I want to believe she had some genuine happiness before she was gone.

Steeltowngirl,

IMHO, Suzanne did feel real happiness in times spent with JL. They met in person often: "Jeff Libler in Feb. 2019 in New Orleans, April 2019 in Indiana, July 2019 in Michigan, Oct. 2019 in Dallas, Feb. 2020 in Florida."

I believe those special days and times were spent being sweet and quite loving to one another. I hope he made her laugh frequently. Most importantly, this man allowed Suzanne to feel hope and the promise of a new day for her life.

Suzanne wanted to live!

"She had told Libler that they needed to be husband and wife.
Libler asked, "Marry me?"
I believe when Suzanne read this message she was smiling and her heart was happy.

So, Suzanne got her scarlet letter, somehow MOO knew that was coming.

And here we have the man about to lose a fortune that she brought to the family lying about his whereabouts early Sunday Morning the day she disappeared.

Thank goodness she had someone to lend some affection and love to her life, no matter how late in her life it was, no matter how short. Imagine if he had murdered her and she hadn't know any tenderness for so very long. She had her dreams and she probably wasn't even there in spirit looking at that disgusting creep for the last few years.

This is the state's case. The state called these witnesses. The state somehow thinks this is important.

One rule in litigation is to get ahead of your bad facts. The state may have thought they wanted to introduce this up front to get it over with so the defense can't do an "ah ha" later on.

Or they may be setting this up for motive.

Suzanne is texting her boyfriend at 2:11pm. Barry walks in and sees her texting, grabs her phone, reads through the messages and flies into a rage. Cue their evidence of his destruction of evidence over the next few hours.

Thank you. I needed this. For real.

I’m looking forward to the Broomsfield trip report.

In the meantime, I’m going to pour one out for Suzanne and set one up for myself. Redhook Long Hammer IPA.

This one’s for you, Suzanne. Rest in heaven.

Yes. Thank you Alethea. We all needed this!

This JL was her boyfriend before BM?
BM was a lot older than Suzanne, not at HS same time.
I think he knew she was the richest gal he would have a chance with, pulled out all the stops to win her, bet that is also why he couldn't keep it going it going as a decent husband, got abusive.
Like Fotis Dulos, he found marrying for money was a terrible job especially as you get older.
And then of course ultimately the unloved person wants out.

I'm not disappointed at all. In fact, I'm glad she found any happiness.
Someone said it very well earlier (I think I may know who but don't want to give credit to the wrong party).
Suzanne was unloved and facing abuse in one form or another every day. She found the strength to LEAVE her abuser and if JL helped her find herself, to regain her sense of self-worth and realized life had much more to offer, then he served an invaluable purpose. I couldn't care less if it were a man, a friend, a girlfriend or a fairy godmother.
Suzanne made it clear she feared for her life and he wasn't going to let her go. The fact that she had people she could confide in and found comfort with makes me grateful that she at least had hope.
Oh, and she's dead. BM killed her. IMO
Horse is dead and I'm done.

If Barry hadn't killed sweet Suzanne, and she managed to get away from him, moving to Indiana temporarily maybe, to regroup....

If that happened, I think her emotional, comforting extramarital relationship, would have fallen by the wayside.

I have seen it so many times---when someone in a very long marriage, one that started in high school especially, decides they really need to separate and move on from their marriage, they need an emotional crutch.

Having that other love relationship gives them the impetus, motivation, emotional support, to make the break. It is hard to leave someone you have been with since high school. It is scary and takes a lot of courage.

I don't think she and JL would have continued on because he has some young kids in the home still. I don't think either of them really wanted to blow up his family. JMO

I’m really looking forward to all of the evidence over the next few days. Today had a soap opera vibe, and I’m much more interested in digital evidence and what BM’s movement from Saturday 5/9 through Sunday 5/11 will be.

It's just the next "one more day" for now - the other days don't come until the end of the month.

This is to address those who feel free to condemn Suzanne for this affair, whether emotional or physical or both.

Thank you, @marylamby This means a lot to all of us who have been trapped in similar circumstances.

But, a certain form of morality is going to get a lot of traction here. Suzanne just lost her status as an angelic, godly woman (in the press).

We ought not mention anecdotes, but we all know how tragic this is and many of us have experienced it personally.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to posts tweets, it is very much appreciated.

I hung in until around 2am my time and have now caught up .... got to say that I was surprised to read about SM's affair, I certainly wasn't expecting that.

Regardless of my thoughts on the right or wrong of affairs, there is absolutely no "right" about the act of murder :(

Just. Wow. What a day. I’m not going to judge. So thankful for Websleuths and you great sleuths. I saw a mention here and there of you all putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Maybe Tricia will dedicate her show tonight to Suzanne. Just. Wow.

I didn’t read that JL and SM dated or were boyfriend/girlfriend in high school. I was sure the report just said they knew each other.
By all accounts, Suzanne and Barry loved each other very much. But she had no idea he was a control freak or narcissistic and abusive. Of course, that killed her feelings. After fighting cancer and having two little girls, she reached out to a man she remembered and maybe dreamt that they belonged together. Woah, it’s all so sad. I wish BM would admit what he has done.

What evidence revealed today could possibly be used to prove Barry’s guilt? The gun incident where Barry held the gun to his head shows that he’s a violent, unhinged lunatic? The cell phone times showing when Suzanne sent her last messages and then the time the cell ultimately went dark with no further activity? The fact that Suzanne wanted to end her marriage? The times during which Barry’s vehicle moved and the passenger side car door opened? Is there anything else I’ve missed that could possibly be evidence of murder? Or used in conjunction with other information that LE has yet to discuss?

I’m underwhelmed by all of the affair stuff. I suppose they are laying out the story chronologically and there’s more important evidence forthcoming. I hope.

I would think BM would most definitely be seeing someone else as well. How else would Suzanne slip away that many times without BM catching them? There's always hunting/working out but with his controlling nature there had to be more keeping his focus off what she was doing.

And I can't imagine his rage once he found out. (that's if he "knew"), which I think at some point he did. Whether he had 10 girlfriends or not, he would be LIVID. How dare someone try to take his "top prize"...his possession. I was married to someone just like BM for 20 years...Avid Hunter, Deer Farm Owner, top tier narcissist, and all.
