Noooo... Just received mandatory evacuation orders. Fire that originated in Grand County has been burning 5000 acres per hr. :(

How is that even possible? Nature is very powerful...

(Hugs! I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending you a pm.)

East Troublesome Fire: Updates on evacuations, damage | 9news.com

“GRAND COUNTY, Colo. — Several people are unaccounted for and another day of challenging weather conditions is expected for crews working the East Troublesome Fire, which experienced exponential growth over the last few days due to the strong winds and drought conditions.“

[...]

“The fire grew during the day Thursday by about 45,000 acres, and as of the last update has burned through 170,163 acres. Between late Wednesday and Thursday morning, the fire went from about 24,000 acres to about 125,000.

A news briefing about the fire is set for 11 a.m. Friday. 9NEWS will live stream the news conference in the video player above, on 9NEWS streaming devices, on the 9NEWS YouTube page and on the 9NEWS app.

Challenging winds in the afternoon Friday are expected to ground planes, so officials planned to use them as much as possible in the morning to help drop fire retardant.

The fire has damaged numerous structures and prompted evacuations of entire towns.“

[...]

“The fire is believed to be human-caused.

"This is absolutely the most intense fire behavior I've seen in the years that I've been doing wildland fires," Christopher Joyner, the fire information officer for the East Troublesome Fire, said.“

What We Know About The East Troublesome And Cameron Peak Fires Near Estes Park And Grand Lake

“Friday brings more difficult conditions for crews fighting the East Troublesome fire, with more dry and windy conditions expected in Grand and Larimer counties.

As of 8 p.m. Thursday, the most recent data available, the fire had grown to 170,163 acres. Residents of Estes Park, Granby and Grand Lakeevacuated Thursday under thick blankets of smoke and an orange sky, jamming roads leading out of the towns.

East Troublesome is now the second-largest wildfire in recorded state history. And on Thursday, there was a chance it would merge with the Cameron Peak fire, which is burning west of Fort Collins. As of Friday morning, the Cameron Peak fire — the largest wildfire in recorded state history — had burned 206,977 acres and was 57 percent contained.“
