Gov. Dan Malloy on CNN says, "There are no answers to explain what happened." No good answers.

There were 3 more guns that were found that were NOT purchased by mother. So this goes to show that if someone wanted to commit murder they would find a way. PER CNN

This post belongs in the gun discussion, not here since it would get me in trouble for slaughtering this anemic talking point of the NRA. I though we agreed to remove the gun discussion, so I find this highly offensive.

Wow,,if true did they call the police?

State police deny this.Maybe he was lurking around and was asked to leave and somehow that got reported to news as an altercation, when maybe it was unremarkable at the time? Its very frustrating getting all these conflicting stores!! Now we find out the mother worked in finance, not as a teacher,so where did that come from? Btother says AL was disturbed,Aunt says if Nancy knew he had issues, she would have gotten him treatment. People say he was a loner, but sounds like he was in Boy Scouts and had his "nerdy" club that had parties and stuff. So hard to tell whats true and what isn't.

And no matter what, even if the shooter wrote a hundred page letter explaining why he did it, that STILL would not be a good enough answer. There is nothing that can explain why he would do such a horrific thing such as gunning down woman and children.

There will never be a real answer. Not one that satisfies our hearts and souls or makes us feel any better, anyway.

There are still a lot of conflicting stories even on CNN between different reporters. However it looks like the Bushmaster was the weapon used, and not found in the car as reported earlier. And it's on the edge of legality depending on how it was outfitted (eg an extended magazine for instance) .. likely classed as a sporting weapon under existing laws.

I agree. I posted earlier that I am not ready for politics and gun discussion. IMHO could be it's own thread. JMHO.

We agreed to remove the gun LAW discussion. Not the fact of how many guns were found and where they were found. Guns are a part of this story. The facts need to be shared.

Ok,I must say I have never both heard and seen so many stories. New England Cable News was saying last night the mother was in the classroom and he shot her there. NO.
So now I really do not know what to believe as to all that except the fact that all these wonderful children/people were mowed down by yet another wacko.

of course he used the semi automatic rifle.....its the weapon of choice in those video virtual reality kill games., the shooter, dressed in black, fires at human targets that move about him. its pretty much the same reality game in most cases. and our young men, thousands of them, tens of thousands of them are spending a significant part of their lives in that reality. just a game you say.

in case you missed it the medical examiner said today that most of the injuries were from the long rifle.

CONNECTICUT GUN LAWS AND MENTAL ILLNESS

I bet he had been reported to the NCIS by mental health or social services...
THAT or...(no offense) just look at him!He is wild eyed!
I would hope someone would dig a little deeper.

Didn't a gun shop owner tell his employees not to deal with the bat man guy?
Due to his answering machine??

"It bothered me so much I told my staff, 'If this guy shows up, he gets nothing until I meet him,' " Rotkovich said.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/22/us/colorado-shooting-suspect/index.html

IMO he was in the state "system" somehow...
I don't know in what capacity...
but...
Mental Health Reports to NICS they are mandated...
HIPAA laws do not apply here...
These people are black listed...

The law requires DPS, DMHAS, and the Judicial Department to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the FBI to implement NICS in Connecticut, in accordance with state and federal confidentiality laws. It requires DPS to report to the NICS Index, Denied Persons Files, the name, date of birth, and physical description of anyone barred from possessing firearms under federal law (CGS § 29-36).

The law took effect on October 1, 2005. The memorandum took effect in late 2006, and DMHAS has been sending the data to NICS through the State Police since mid-2007. DPS must contact the database when processing gun permit and certificate applications and gun transfers.

My daughter asked me to go to the Vigil tonight. I can not do it. I just can't. I would just fall apart. I would not be able to handle all the sadness. I hope this is not being a selfish person but I know what I can handle and what I can not.
