Being vegan does not explain a weight that low. Vegans generally maintain a body weight that is on the charts, at the least. AL, at nearly 6'0 tall was about 40lbs underweight AT THE LEAST. A healthy range for someone of that height is 150lbs (small frame) to about 185 (large frame).

He had to be eating next to nothing...My BF and I are both health conscious people. My BF is a lean 135lbs now and he looks thin, but healthy, and he's only 5'6. Any thinner I wouldn't be able to imagine and he's a small framed guy, too. At 4'10 and 110lbs, i'm considered in a normal range for a woman my size. So figure AL had over a foot on me and was around my weight.. I kind of shutter. His weight and eating habits, i'm sure, will prove to be telling..

My brother, with many of AL's apparent issues (except for violence) is also vegan and maintains his weight at about 140 or so I think, and is almost 6'. So he is thin...but 110 is unreal, that is what I weigh at 5'3. I can't believe this was not noted as "unusual" to say the least, if only by mom.

ETA: My sister, who died of anorexia, was changing mentally as she became more and more ill, for what it is worth.

Honestly, I don't see how he had the energy to go anywhere!

I didn't realize he was that tall. I'm surprised he had much strength at that weight. He had to be skin and bones.

That would hardly be "very generous", his DL could also be listing his height when he got his permit which could have been at 16 or 17. Just because he didn't get his DL until 18 doesn't mean he didn't have a permit. He may have grown an inch or so since then which would put him a hair under 6'0, if his DL was correct.

He was really below where he should be.
At 6 ft and 110# his BMI was 14.9
on the chart you will see AGE on the bottom and BMI
on the left.
You can see for yourself, that's not a good place to be.
No matter what is going on in your life.

My theory for AL's incredibly low weight could be a couple of reasons

1. I've read folks with certain severe disabilities have problems keeping up their personal hygiene, like not getting haircuts, not shaving, letting their fingernails grow incredibly long & dirty , not showering, wearing the same clothes for long periods of time, not brushing their teeth, chain smoking

2. Our brother's meds for schizo-affective would make him gain weight, especially the anti-pschotic meds like Haldol. Our brother in 30 days time could drop alot of weight, maybe 15 lbs sometimes, and we knew right then he was off his meds

3. Maybe AL was on meds that stunted his appetite? Or maybe the meds made him gain weight and he stopped taking his meds, so he lost alot of weight?

4. Since Nancy was travelling the world in 2012, maybe she did'nt pay alot of attention to her son becoming waif-like?

5. Many with severe disabilities have a manic side effect too, where they're always on the go, sort of a euphoric stage where they go into a "zone" and lose all sense of time, perspectives, etc..and Lanza

6. Lanza had alot of odd behavioers since the divorce...people said he fell off the face of the map, hiding in his own sanctuary at home

If he was 5"10 and 110 lbs that is still pretty extreme. He couldn't have been eating very much at all. I'm surprised he had any strength.
