I’m just wrapping up yesterday’s WHO Presser and am so happy to hear Dr. Mike and Dr. Tedros talk so passionately about protecting the elderly and the vulnerable, those undergoing chemo, etc., whose lives matter. Dr. Tedros goes so far as to say that “every country has an obligation to save that person”, and if they don’t approach it this way, it is a “moral decay of society”.

These men are such beautiful people.

“At the end of the day it is a human life.”
-Dr. Tedros

“I have said so many times that we can not say we care about millions when we do not care about an individual person who may be senior, or junior...who may be young or old...every. life. matters. Every. Individual. Life. Matters. If we don’t care about every individual, whether old or young, then we are not serious...and that’s why I say it is a moral decay if we try to categorize it that way”.
-Dr. Tedros

Wow. I don't think I've heard anyone say it better.

I checked in on my MIL 82 and FIL 89. They just got home from their regular check up with their doctor. They were there for 2 hours and the doctor never mentioned COVID-19. Unfortunately they didn't ask about it either.
I have to take my 90 yr old mother to a Dr.s appointment on Friday for one of her prescription refills. I called today to ask if I could just pick it up for her, due to my concern regarding exposure. They told me I could come in when I arrive, and they would give me a mask to put on her, and then bring her in. The conflicting information is horrible, as I thought the masks mainly were to protect others from infection. I bring her in a wheelchair, so at least she won't be touching anything. I am hoping to get in quick, and get out. I'm going to talk to the Dr. and ask if he can just call in her script next month, so she isn't put at any additional risk.

I think that if you post this kind of remedies, you should post the scientific data to support their use. Otherwise, you could be adding to the mounting pile of misinformation and quack remedies. jmo
JMO. Should have added that. I'm not stating anywhere that it's proven to do anything at all. Just my own personal experience. :)

Thank you for posting this and for @musicaljoke 's post as well. I was about to do and say the same. Some over-the-counter and homeopathic remedies and approaches are not the best thing for 100% of us. We ought not to make things worse on ourselves by jumping on an unresearched bandwagon.

I'm not expecting anything - just adding possible helpful thing to my intinerary.

I know I am joining this forum very late and probably asking annoying questions. Sorry! Supposed to fly into the Los Cabos airport in a few days and then stay a resort in San Jose Del Cabo. Would you worry about the cruise ship with coronavirus that stopped in Cabo? Grand Princess I think Feb 21. So 14 days are up, but are there many test kits in Cabo San Lucas? Would you worry about a resort in SJDC that is 50 minutes from the port in Cabo San Lucas?

I am youngish and healthy so hoping to still go!

It’s not annoying. I think if you’re youngish and healthy and have it already planned you should be safe! It’s not a cruise and it’s not Milan.

I meant the faculty of the entitled universities. They are the ones who want to stay home. And the officials are letting them.

LOLOLOL
Yes, you know, I am just THRILLED to have to completely rework my syllabus, record my lectures, significantly restructure numerous assignments, and master new technologies in the middle of the semester! And I am equally excited to provide guidance to the handful of students who simply do not have access to high-speed Internet besides on their phones (many of which run on operating systems that don’t play well with our instructional technology) and whose only option to get online on an actual computer would be by going to the (likely to be shut down in a quarantine) public library—yippee!!!

I was a pediatric nurse, so other end of the spectrum, but when kids got REALLY SICK with chicken pox, (back in the day before a vaccine) we'd bring them in the back door and place them immediately in a room.
We would also schedule the preemies for first appointment of the day before other people came in and spread their germs during RSV season.
1st appointment of the morning or 1st after lunch, typically get seen sooner.
Not sure if that helps.

I just returned from my local Kroger in Central KY. Still plenty of toilet paper/wipes available!

On a few shelves they have a sign limiting purchase of certain items to 5 per person; but that was mostly in the OTC cough/colds aisle and the liquid soap/hand sanitizer aisle. In the cough/cold aisle, there were a few empty slots for things like cough drops, but the overall impression was of "plenty."

Plenty of water/pasta/eggs/meats/frozen meals, etc.

I didn't check for hand sanitizer, but they were out of stock a few days ago.
Only saw 1 person with a mask. No signs of hoarding or panic purchasing at this Kroger. In fact, the parking lot (which always seem "full" for some reason) had plenty of empty spots.

Filled up the tank for under $2/gallon, too.
IMO
The stores that I have been in, are running low on cleaning supplies, cough drops, and some Over the counter medications. Otherwise, I haven't noticed any other shortages. Oh, I have noticed people purchasing multiple packages of water.

i am just trying to figure out simple stuff, like should my husband and i go out
for breakfast- we are in our 70s. with medical conditions---i have asthma and he has
hypertension--- i love going out for breakfast-- i heard today a waitress at a waffle house,
maybe in Kentucky, tested positive for Covid --- i also heard an employee at a walmart
tested positive as well----we go to walmart quite a bit here in Florida--- it is hard to
just stay home all the time----

i dont plan to take a cruise or fly -- i just want to do some routine stuff but
as we know the threat of this deadly virus must be considered when making
plans

Please don’t ask us to ok your “routine stuff.“ We’d all feel really guilty if you got sick....if you’re asking, that means you have doubts. Listen to your guts. If you have doubts, stay home. Better safe than sorry.

@otto check this out!

college student with no internet access? They get credit for the semester. interestingly no co id10 cases in this count yet.....

Berea College cancels classes for rest of semester due to COVID-19

- As concerns spread across Kentucky over the new strain of coronavirus, Berea College announced Tuesday it is canceling classes for the rest of the semester.

The college is stopping instructional activities at the end of the day on March 13.

This means professors are required to bring their courses to an end because most students who leave campus may not have internet access at home.

The due date for grades will not change. Seniors will still get their diplomas, but the graduation ceremonies will be postponed or canceled.

The Administrative Committee reached a decision after deciding it could not assure student and employee safety in the circumstance of a coronavirus case occurring on campus.

What does this mean for students?

Students need to be out of their dorms by March 14.

I guess I'm missing where anyone stated this to be a cure or was encouraging everyone to rush out and get it. Looks like people sharing their own experiences, similar to other posts on D, sunlight, C, zinc, etc. Of course everyone needs to sift through information and personal experiences that are shared and determine what's best for themselves. JMO.

Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical’s anti-viral drug Favilavir (Favipiravir) has been approved as an investigational therapy to treat the coronavirus, reported local media.

Initial media reports said that the drug secured regulatory approval as a coronavirus medicine. However, updated reports say the company received a clinical trial approval to test Favilavir in Covid-19 patients.

Favilavir approved as experimental coronavirus drug

Thanks for posting these articles, I am keeping a notebook with all the names of drugs that they used with MERS, etc. and the pharmaceutical companies that produce them. I read that some HIV antivirals are also being used in China and may be effective for coronavirus, but this was early on and I don't recall where I read this.

We have 3 confirmed cases in Ohio and today our governor told us to go through drive-thrus but do not go inside restaurants to eat.

It was actually the 19th......lol......please tell me that changes everything! Are they able to test in Cabo? Would we know if Corona cases? Officially the Baja California is still 0 cases.

I keep asking that because my mom tells me it's probably because of a lack of test kits.

If you’re healthy I see no issue. Because you have just as much chance probably of catching it elsewhere. See if you can find a surgical mask to wear on the plane and in the airport. But I think you’re going before the wave.
