It finally found us. We received my hubbies PCR results this morning. It's positive. He's running a low grade fever, runny nose and a general feeling of malaise. I worry about him as he has an underlying condition. Luckily we have easy access to medical advise via phone or video chat.

I still have the same headache I've had for 5 days. I'm not going for a second PCR at this point. I'm just going to assume we both have it. If my symptoms get worse, I'll go for a second test.
My husband and I are both double vaccinated along with boosters. I'm hoping that will make this a mild encounter with our enemy Covid.

So sorry that your husband has Covid and that you are also not feeling well. I hope you both recover quickly and without residual effects. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy on Friday. I'm more concerned about being in a medical facility with possible exposure to Covid than the dreaded prep day that just happens to be my 72nd birthday :D Patients are required to present proof of vaccination/booster or a negative Covid test 72 hours prior to procedure. My vaccination information is already on file, but I'm going to take my card with me anyway.

Be well.

All vaccinations are required be for transplant. I know several removed from kidney transplant list. Wonder if he took flu and the other vaccines?

The first pig-heart transplant patient was denied a human heart after failing to follow doctors' orders

Bennett never made the list in the first place. In a Newsweek essay about performing the first pig-heart transplant, Griffith described a "severe obstacle" that made Bennett ineligible for a human heart: He had a history of being "medically noncompliant," or failing to follow doctors' orders.

Other hospitals declined to put Bennett on the national organ waiting list because he'd missed follow-up appointments and didn't take his prescribed medication consistently, Bennett's son told The Washington Post.

The Post's report also revealed that Bennett was convicted of a violent crime years ago. Criminal history doesn't factor into hospital decisions about who should get human-organ transplants, but the story stirred up ethical questions about who deserves access to the scarce supply of human organs in the US.

Have to give a shout out to VA TECH, they cloned the first pig, years ago.

Blacksburg company raised genetically modified pig for first heart transplant into human

Doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Center made international news after completing the first successful heart transplant between a pig and a human last week. David Bennett, a 57-year-old Maryland resident, received a heart from a genetically modified pig, which was raised by Blacksburg company Revivicor.

Revivicor, located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, focuses on the science of xenotransplantation, or transplanting organs between different species. The company specifically focuses on altering the DNA of pigs to successfully transplant hearts, kidneys and lungs into human patients.

The surgery in Maryland marked the first successful heart transplant between a pig and a human. Bennett received an emergency authorization for the surgery through the Food and Drug Administration’s “compassionate access” provision, which allows patients with no other options to receive treatments not yet approved for the wider public.

I'm sorry you have to go into a medical facility.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'm sorry you have to go into a medical facility. I guess we all dread that now knowing how contagious this variant is. I hope your colonoscopy comes back normal.

So as some of you know I had covid recently. I’m double vaxxed because of eligibility. I got a text two days in sick that I can now book dose 3. I’m just ranting out conflicting statementsif you let me!;)
My home country the Netherlands says to wait 3 months for third shot after having covid. My mum says I should wait. I talked to the doctor who said he himself waited and that I can get better immunity response by waiting. Swedish authorities say I can take it as soon as I recover and I should do that.
Im a bit conflicted who do I listen to?! I wish there was universal agreement for that and that would make my life easier.

Can you put the procedure off until Omicron cases subside somewhat?
I was supposed to have a colonoscopy in November-- something occurred
and I could not do it--I need to reschedule it here in Florida but with
Omicron surging, I am going to wait for a !ittle while until this surge
subsides. If you do have the procedure I am sure they will do
everything to keep you safe. Good luck

There is a lot I could say about medical records and documentation about "noncompliance". It is often biased from people who are judgemental rather than actually vested in helping people with medical problems.

Noncompliant Patient here.

If I was in your position I would wait three months. How are you and bf feeling?

I’m feeling fine. My only symptom is tiny congestion and a little of dry cough. I’m testing negative. My boyfriend has a cough, tiredness and congestion. I think I will wait a bit before getting my 3rd shot. My bf scheduled his on the 8th of February and he wants to get it then.

I thought this video might be helpful for your situation.

If I were you I’d do nothing for a few weeks and see how case rates are looking in your area. In the UK it’s 4 weeks for adults (12 weeks for kids) though I know several people who’ve had it twice within that period. When did you last have a vaccine?

My second dose was on the 5th of August. 4 weeks to the point after the first one. Here they say as soon as you recover approximately 10 days from onset of symptoms.

Thanks you so much. So far it seems mild so I'm holding out hope it stays that way.

Hi LaborDayRN,

Sorry to hear about hubby’s, and possibly your positive covid diagnosis. I’m optimistic you guys will be okay considering your vax status. Sending you both all the best for a speedy recovery. ❤️
