My free tests are out for delivery to me today.
I can't believe, practically everyone we know has had Covid. Except for us. I have not even had a Covid test yet. My husband has had several, every time you have a medical procedure, you have to have a negative Covid test prior to a procedure.

Feel better lonetraveler (((HUGS)))So far in this pandemic, I've had Covid19 and it took almost 3 months to get over it but kept covid fog. I then, as soon as I could, had two vaccinations. Came down with Omnicron the week after Christmas. Sniffles and slight fever. Week three, came down with painful, swollen throat and fever. The second week of January I came down with severe back pain and severe joint and muscle pain. Called doctor. He said that I have Omnicron post recovery symptoms of "back breaking back pain and severe muscle and joint pain, made worse because I have had four spinal surgeries and have arthritis and Lupus. I have been in severe pain for about a month now. The only treatment is anti-inflammatory medicine and pain meds. Doctors don't know how much longer this will go on. It's hell.
Sorry your job was made redundant JG, this rotten virus has a lot to answer for! But glad that has maybe helped you swerve it.MrJG and I have never had a covid test taken either. I thought we were the last two on earth to be tested.
I lost my job over a year ago due to the economy so I am not out in the workforce where I could pick up COVID. I have grocery delivery but still like to browse antique shops, run errands, pick up milk or bread from the corner store, post office drop offs etc. MrJG is home mostly, on long term disability, and doesn’t do most of the errands I do daily. This past January we drove down to Florida to visit family and flew to Florida for Thanksgiving, still came back healthy both trips. We are always fully masked except the car, home and outside.
We both got the first Modena shot in February and were boosted in early November.
It seems so strange to me that we both escaped COVID testing so far.
Instructions to use COVID tests delivered in cold temperatures
The tests need to be performed in an environment that is between 59⁰F and 86⁰F to ensure proper results. If the tests are delivered while the temperature is below freezing, District Health Department #10 has issued special guidance before the test is used.
The free at-home COVID-19 tests can be ordered through USPS at special.usps.com/testkits.
Statistics may already show BA.2 is bad news...Denmark: "Preliminary calculations indicate that BA.2 is one and a half times more contagious than BA.1." https://ssi.dk/aktuelt/nyheder/2022/paa-trods-af-hoeje-smittetal-foelger-indlaeggelserne-ikke-med
So we are warned...still even Denmark now lifting restrictions...97 deaths last week, last 7 days DK had 124 Covid deaths, +28% on a population of 5.8 million.
Denmark, which is dropping all restrictions on Tuesday, reports 51,033 new coronavirus cases, the biggest one-day increase on record from BNO newsroom .BNO Newsroom on Twitter: "Denmark, which is dropping all restrictions on Tuesday, reports 51,033 new coronavirus cases, the biggest one-day increase on record" / Twitter
MOO
In Denmark hospitalizations (especially ICU admissions) and deaths are low for omicron compared to other variants. I guess they figured that lifting the restrictions won't overwhelm the health system any more, especially due to their high vaccination rate. There are only 33 people in ICUs today (for the population of 5,8 mil). That’s surprising to me, it makes a lot of news here. Denmark had fairly tough restrictions trough entire pandemic with small easing here and there . We were supposed to go there during December to look at some Christmas markets which were cancelled. Denmark will also stop calling covid dangerous disease .Baffles me honestly with omicron spreading. Some people here think that Sweden should follow but thankfully health agency disagrees.
“Just as the Danish government did in September, when it lifted all restrictions, it will also stop calling Covid-19 a “societally critical disease”, meaning that it will no longer have the legal basis to introduce wide-ranging curbs.”

And I won't have to get a covid test before I fly there in 2 weeks. Neither when I enter Sweden. I have that QR code - but going to go to my doctor's and see if I can get this "new" Digital Green Certificate / EU Digital Covid Certificate. I'm good to April after my booster shot. I put April, as Israel said the booster was good for 4 months.
I think they changed new entry requirements here on the 21st so its easier to get into Sweden now. Hope you can get EU covid certificate from your doctor. Hope you will have a safe and a great stay
Re the EU covid cert - my doctor is the one who gave me the 2 jabs & booster - and they gave me my QR code in paper form. I wanted to get the digital as that what one of the sites says you can get to freely travel throughout the EU. So thought it would be simpler to get in & out of a country.
And thanks - I will definitely enjoy my Holiday!

Covid-19 surveillance
I acquired digital certificates (separate one for booster) by scanning the QR codes on the printed certificates with a national e-health app.Yes it’s definitely easier to have the digital one. I have both digital and printed one just in case something happens to my phone when I travel as en emergency. It should be no problem to get one I hope.
Can I be superficial for a minute? I am so bummed that I have not been able to go to the beauty salon for weeks: my hair is a mess- All during the pandemic (prior to Omicron) I was willing to take the slight risk to get my hair styled, dyed, cut, etc. However, I see Omicron as a horse of a different color. The salon I found here in Florida (with help of the lovely lady from WS), is vaccinated and masked, but with Omicron I don't think that is enough to protect me as a vulnerable person though vaxxed and boosted. Do ya all think I am doing the right thing? Thing is, I know nothing about this stylist- she could be living with grandchildren and teenagers for all I know- I just am not willing to take the risk so I guess I will have to wear wigs for a while ( my hair is very thin and needs lots of dye, style, good cut and a good stylist) to make it look decent. That is just the way it is. Maybe I am being too cautious but I just don't think so. I don't want any version of this virus- including the so-called "mild" version. My husband and I don't go anywhere but to the store and we are masked.
There are also significant differences within Europe. For example, while our obesity rate is comparable to Denmark's, our ICU figures per capita are much higher than theirs. I blame a major difference in vaccination rates.wow that’s amazing.
I think the population of Denmark is also much healthier in general than say the US So less people at higher risk ?
I would keep to what your gut reaction is telling you. Keep wearing your wigs it is not worth risking your health to visit a salon.
