Thought this was worth posting even though it refers to Pfizer RSV vaccine--- concern about guillain-barre-syndrome as possible risk of this vaccine
Interesting and concerning.

RSV Burden Estimates (CDC)
Each year in the United States, RSV leads to approximately:
  • 2.1 million outpatient (non-hospitalization) visits among children younger than 5 years old.(1)
  • 58,000-80,000 hospitalizations among children younger than 5 years old.(1,2,3)
  • 60,000-160,000 hospitalizations among adults 65 years and older.(4-8)
  • 6,000-10,000 deaths among adults 65 years and older.(9-11)
  • 100–300 deaths in children younger than 5 years old.(11)

Overview

Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your hands and feet are usually the first symptoms.

These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In its most severe form Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.

The exact cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome is unknown. But two-thirds of patients report symptoms of an infection in the six weeks preceding. These include a COVID-19, respiratory or a gastrointestinal infection or Zika virus.

There's no known cure for Guillain-Barre syndrome, but several treatments can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of the illness. Although most people recover completely from Guillain-Barre syndrome, some severe cases can be fatal. While recovery may take up to several years, most people are able to walk again six months after symptoms first started. Some people may have lasting effects from it, such as weakness, numbness or fatigue.

Thanks for adding this medical information!!!

Long Covid disabled them. Then they met a ‘broken’ Social Security disability process

Pushing through cognitive impairment, migraines and severe fatigue, Michaelene Carlton, 49, mustered up the energy last week to dial the Social Security Administration to speak to her newly appointed Social Security Disability Insurance case manager. She has left six messages, one every two weeks since late December, and she still hasn’t heard back.

Carlton, who says she has had long-term Covid-19 symptoms since March 2020, is one of up to 23 million Americans estimated to be living with post-acute sequelae SARS-CoV-2 infection. PASC is the medical name often given to Covid-19 symptoms that last or evolve after an initial infection. Those estimates are from the Department of Health and Human Services as of late last year.

The chronic condition can include symptoms from memory loss and extreme fatigue to muscle weakness and musculoskeletal pain. Patients can struggle for months and even years, and many cannot work during that period.

A study by The Brookings Institution found that as many as 683,000 workers may have had to leave the labor force due to long Covid as of October 2022.

I think the above is important context.

Whether the people who got GBS after a vaccine

1) got it from the vaccine, or
2) got it because the vaccine affected their susceptibility, or
3) they were already infected or otherwise going to get it anyway,

it needs to be compared to the risk/rate of getting it after having RSV or whatever illness the vaccine was for.

I personally still believe, strongly, that when viewed in context, vaccines are beneficial for almost all people (severe allergies to ingredients excepted, as well as a few other conditions).

Attitude and beliefs can shape this narrative in worrisome ways IMO.

Anecdote: I know a family with a teen girl who started having seizures and other issues shortly after getting her first covid vaccine. Her family has adopted the "vaccine injured" cause and spread that story widely, no doubt out of honest concern. (She's been treated with Ivermectin, however, which tells me what kind of medical care they are seeking.) However, I am told from others who knew the girl prior, that she had a head injury from falling off a horse not long before getting the vaccine, and had also had at least one seizure prior to the vaccine. But that part of her story is not being discussed because IMO it doesn't fit the narrative, which they probably do not even realize they have adopted. Then I wonder how many other people have decided the vaccines are dangerous due to having heard this one girl's story.

All MOO

Very disheartening: this is the latest and most likely theory of the origins of Covid-- via lab leak
Leaked from a lab has always been how I've been leaning due to the lack of information from the very beginning. Maybe now bats will stop being vilified. That always bothered me. Bats are very beneficial creatures and they had already started out with a creep out factor from a lot of people. Dracula movies didn't help.

I love bats and sometimes will go out at dusk hoping to see some flying around eating mosquitoes, etc. :)

My husband & I did that when I lived in Auburn, Ca. They interesting to watch!

I think the media needs to be careful about this. The report actually says they have "low confidence" about the lab leak theory and they are just one agency. But it's tragic and very interesting (not sure the best word), if true.

Yeah, it’s also been my opinion for a very long while now. When they still hadn’t found an animal intermediary host after a year or so, I knew it was likely an intermediary host didn’t exist.

(I used to follow an infectious disease expert on Instagram who explained in one video that the animal host responsible for other viral outbreaks in the past had been quickly identified.)

A life-changing condition called POTS, which can cause fainting, irregular heartbeats and dizziness, particularly among young women, appears to be on the rise as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

But the condition isn’t well understood, and many patients are dismissed as having anxiety, delaying diagnosis. Once diagnosed, many patients face waiting lists as long as two years to get treatment from specialists.

POTS stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, a disorder of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary functions like heart rate, blood pressure and digestion.

“When the autonomic nervous system is not functioning properly, any or all of those things can go a little haywire,” said David R. Fries, a cardiologist and POTS specialist at Rochester Regional Health.

POTS patients typically experience a marked rise in heart rate when standing and a complex combination of symptoms, including dizziness, brain fog, fainting, headache and fatigue, among many others.

There is no known cure for POTS, but physical therapy, medications and diet changes related to salt intake can sometimes help.

That's at least 3 times for her according to the article you posted (2/28/23) and another I've linked below that mentioned May and also says "Again!" so there was a time before May 2022. And this is just a guess on my part, but if the bolded and underlined part of your article is correct... I'm going to venture a guess that she's not boosted against Omicron which is what the bivalent booster targets. That came out in early Sept/Oct 2022.

Guthrie, who is vaccinated against the virus and received a booster shot, first tested positive for Covid in January 2022.

"a" booster is one, I've received 5 boosters, not "a" booster.

Also, oddly the article I posted from 2022 also says "Savannah is vaccinated against the virus and has received a booster dose." There's that "a booster dose" statement again. So... if she was vaccinated and received "a" booster dose before her 5/22 infection... it makes me wonder if she'd had any boosters since back in early 2022 and they used the same statement in the article you posted.

You wouldn't catch me around her without wearing a mask. Heck, I wouldn't ever go near her even with my N95 mask. LOL

Looks like Savannah's first time was 1/22 so this makes it at least 3 for her.

At least they’re finally acknowledging it.
So many voices were silenced in the process. That is downright scary in my opinion.
