I cannot believe how people in this town are supporting us!
We had a customer tonight bring us 3 huge bags of grapefruits from their trees.
I had a horrible toothache, could not get in to anywhere for help.
A doctor customer gave me pills to take care of it. All he wants in return in my stuffed mushroom recipe!
My neighbor left a bag of lemons from her tree on my doorstep.
It's been just my husband and our cook running our Mom and Pop restaurant of 70 seats, and it's been cold and raining all week.
Miserable weather, but, our customers... Wow.
Hubby is 72 and I am 66. Years young.
I am in tears.

CDC:
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the U.S.

“Updated March 18, 2020

This page will be updated regularly at noon Mondays through Fridays. Numbers close out at 4 p.m. the day before reporting.

CDC is responding to an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus. The outbreak first started in Wuhan, China, but cases have been identified in a growing number of other locations internationally, including the United States. In addition to CDC, many public health laboratories are now testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.

COVID-19: U.S. at a Glance*
  • Total cases: 7,038
  • Total deaths: 97
  • Jurisdictions reporting cases: 54 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands)
* Data include both confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 reported to CDC or tested at CDC since January 21, 2020, with the exception of testing results for persons repatriated to the United States from Wuhan, China and Japan. State and local public health departments are now testing and publicly reporting their cases. In the event of a discrepancy between CDC cases and cases reported by state and local public health officials, data reported by states should be considered the most up to date.

† CDC is no longer reporting the number of persons under investigation (PUIs) that have been tested, as well as PUIs that have tested negative. Now that states are testing and reporting their own results, CDC’s numbers are not representative of all testing being done nationwide.

@KALI happy for you. And I also supported our local chef tonight, brought home food.

Funny story, my husband spoke with his son, and sister today. Told them both that I am keeping him locked up in the house, won't let him go anywhere, and I took his debit cards for shopping.

They think that it is great that I am taking such good care of him!

Geez, any other time, someone might call Adult Protective Services with a story like that. :p

I LOVE saying “I told you so,” @KALI!! :D

I’m usually not a fatalistic person but seeing the absolute stupidity of so many people my position went from trying to convince a large number of people to take this seriously through my FB contacts, professional networks, etc - to just bullying my friends and family to stay completely isolated except for caring for other people. It gets to a point where that’s all you can do. We’re ordering seeds for the garden and don’t expect to see anyone face to face outside of our family until the Fall. It’s just horrific and other people just think we’re nuts but I’d rather be nuts with live parents and full lung capacity?

Otherwise we’re just donating to our local hospital and expecting the worst for the world. Feels crappy doesn’t it.
I’m the same. Now, I realize I must worry about myself, follow recommended guidelines & mostly live in self imposed exile. I no longer have the energy to argue with anyone that can’t realize the severity. How can someone believe a Naval ship is dispatched for no reason? Or disbelieve the daily stats? Idk, seems like many won’t be convinced until they contract it. Jmo

I know it's depressing, but we need to drive home the fact that even our own family members might be at risk from one another. At first it seemed only the elderly had to worry, but that is misleading. My city announced today it has a group of rooms set-aside for people who need to isolate from their family. Now, I understand.

At least 7 members of N.J. family contracted COVID-19 at a family gathering; 2 dead, 4 critical

"To imagine a week ago to get a phone call like this - if someone told me this story, I wouldn't believe it," she said. "It's inconceivable to me."

Ours is correct for the forehead, reads same as oral, which is odd, but it would certainly tell you if you were febrile.
Moo

About low death rate/children in China not affected.
Aren't "most" families with small children these days limited to only 1?
Or is that a myth?
Pales in comparison to some families of multiple children here.
Imo

Ita, personal choice, not a gov’t choice.
I’m still trying to figure out how come we need to be told to wash our hands (I was taught at 2) and why we must be told to stay isolated due to an evil virus. How do so many not automatically know? Oh well.......

It's not a matter of not knowing, it is a matter of non-compliance so the government has to step in to protect everyone from the actions of irresponsible adults of which there seems to be no shortage.

Coronavirus conmen preying on elderly and vulnerable with bogus Covid-19 tests

Callous gangs are pretending to be from charities such as the Red Cross and targeting frightened pensioners in their own homes.

Coronavirus conmen preying on elderly and vulnerable with bogus Covid-19 tests

Hope they find these evil individuals.
That is just horrible. Many scams here too. An airport in California found fake testing kits on a flight. Probably for the same thing.
