It's true margarita!
On Zoom meeting Sat. for work there was discussion of social distancing with tape on the ground at the grocery store. I laughed because I haven't seen that. I've only had deliveries and my car has been in the shop so I have not been anywhere since March 14.
I was looked at strangely.

And I'm fine.

1/n There's some concerns being expressed about the implications for privacy and liberty of case based interventions that encourage widespread screening for #COVID19, and use public health interventions that require people who are infected and contagious to self isolate.
5:33 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
2/n These concerns shouldn't be ignored, but also should be put in context. Case-based interventions that identify disease outbreaks, and contain spread, are a mainstay of public health prevention for deadly pathogens from Polio to Ebola to Measles, and countless deadly pathogens
5:35 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
3/n How we implement these efforts, and seek consent, should be carefully considered. But ultimately, we face hard trade-offs between pervasive risk of epidemics and outbreaks; population mitigation (what we have now); or the effective application of case-based interventions.
5:38 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
4/n That doesn't mean one hard reality will give way to another. We may implement case based interventions and still have large outbreaks. But we need to balance our considerations against the harsh reality that, until we get to a vaccine, #COVID19 will remain a constant menace.
5:42 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
5/n In near term we are faced with unattractive choices that require hard tradeoffs and careful balancing. But one of greatest threats to liberty, perhaps, is the prospect that #COVID19 continues to circulate unchecked, and populations are confined to homes of fear or legal order
5:47 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
6/n What we do to contain spread must balance all these risks and concerns. The issues related to individual liberty are important. We can't let a virus claim cherished freedoms. But ultimately, it's hard to envision a vibrant society while this virus is also circulating freely
6:07 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Scott Gottlieb, MD on Twitter
7/n In the end we'll vanquish this threat with our technology. We'll have a vaccine in a few years, and hopefully effective drugs before then. How much death and disease it causes until we can get these interventions will turn on many factors both outside, and within, our control
6:08 PM - 7 Apr 2020

Absolutely. Omg Dr. Mike talks about some of this beautifully..”protecting privacy” in the face of internet tracking, etc...moo paraphrasing.

I think I noted where I can find these quotes. It’s where Dr. Mike talks about “technology”, and then Dr. Maria follows up. I thiiiink it was in that “technology” Q&A portion. Going on a hunt because I would really like to post that.

US state of Georgia secures 200,000 doses of malaria drug touted by Trump as possible coronavirus therapy

Pharmaceutical company Amneal has donated 200,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine to the Georgia Department of Public Health, US Representative from Georgia Doug Collins said.

"Proud to have worked with Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to help secure 200,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine for (the Georgia Department of Public Health)," he tweeted.

"This medication could potentially save thousands of lives across our state. Thank you, Amneal, for this incredible donation!"

snipped to reply... and the conversation went like this:
“Dude.”
Then I just stood there.
Then a few minutes later I say, “WT(H)” (censored).
Seriously. That’s the conversation I just had with myself. That’s all I’ve got sometimes.

Let it out, let it all out @margarita25 :).

Not getting the promised paltry amount of $1,200. per person to the American people, is a bad, bad, situation.
A Really, bad situation.
I don't know why, the promised money is not going out (at all). Not One Person has received this money that I know of.
But, WOW, we need someone to step up and tell America what the problem is.
They'll probably blame it all on computers.
Nobody with a hungry loved one is going to give a *advertiser censored* about computers.
Somehow, the USA needs to release money to it's citizens.
This is an emergency.
Forget protocol, unless America is ready for riots.
Get the promised $1,200. to the people right now!
Anyway you can.
Where is this Promised Money for the USA citizens?

Hey everyone,

WS relies on MSM and recognized leaders, organizations, and scholarly articles for facts. This thread is not about journalistic integrity, it is about trying to learn all we can about Covid-19 through the most trusted sources we have available to us.

One good thing that has come out of this Pandemic is the pandas finally got it on after ten years.

Woah hold on, it’s supposedly coming. It sounds like to me this IS going to go down (eta last I saw). We will see but let’s at least give them a chance to fulfill what they already said they would do. It sounds like a done deal to me after 20 initial posts I made in the stimulus thread to help get it started.

I’m not getting worked up until their self proclaimed fulfillment deadlines or previously outlined terms are not met. Then I’ll be right there with ya with my “Show me the Money” video again.

Did you have coronavirus without knowing? Scientists are developing tests to find out
[...]

As much as 25 percent of people infected with the coronavirus may never show any symptoms, CDC director Robert Redfield told NPR.

But symptomatic or not, viruses leave a mark. When they enter the body the immune system goes to war against it, developing antibodies specially designed to kill it. These antibodies hang around in the bloodstream even after the war is won, granting immunity to that illness if it’s encountered again.

[...]

Creating a widely available ‘serological’ test — a test determining if specific antibodies are present in the blood — is one way to find out if someone had previously contracted COVID-19.

The CDC is ramping up efforts to conduct this testing, according to Vox.

[...]

For the coronavirus to be spreading the way it is, Dr. Cameron R. Wolfe, an associate professor of medicine at Duke University, told McClatchy News there must be a larger group of people with little to no symptoms who are capable of transmitting it.

[...]

In a random sample of 1,000 people, Wolfe said blood tests will show how many have the “antibody memory of having seen the coronavirus before.” Then scientists can look at how many of those knew they had the coronavirus, a similar illness or showed no symptoms at all.

[...]

Scientists and public health experts need to know who was infected so they have a better understanding of what proportion of the population still needs to be vaccinated, Wolfe told McClatchy.

Are they still delivering quickly in your area? They are about 10 days out in So Calif. At least in my area it takes that long now to get a slot.

I haven’t used them personally, but on my local subreddit people said it only takes a few days or less. Supposedly around midnight is the best time to check the site for future delivery slots.

So it was a curbside order, and it seems to be worth of mouth that the people staying with the customers didn’t self quarantine. And the customers who actually picked up the order weren’t the ones from California. thanks for the context.
Actually this is a very small eatery, housed in a previous laundrymat. The owner is a genuinely nice lady, and I have no reason to doubt her story. Even if they didn't face to face serve the customers from California, they served the ones that they were staying with (which could have already been infected with covid-19 from their guests from California.) If she had not been told the people she served takeout to were hosts to residents in a hotspot state, she wouldn't have closed her business. Our state requests, not mandates, that visitors from other states quarantine themselves for 14 days, and those in contact with these people must also quarantine themselves. This is how community spread happens. She is being selfless in closing her small spot to insure the spread stops with her.

MOO

I’m not doubting her story. But the article left out details that imo make a difference.

Hi Bears. It depends where you are. Here the average is about 10 days out. Instacart has now moved to “first available” in my area which right now is ten days out. Before you had to sit there and hit refresh for 8 hours with the “no slots available” message.

I’ve been using Instacart for a long time well before this. Trust me when I tell you they are swamped and it is hit or miss. You can get lucky sometimes. Or not. It depends how many drivers they have, etc etc. Some say the store you pick makes a difference, idk. I’ve had to work VERY HARD to even get a slot. I feel horribly for some who may not be as technically savy.

“New York City reports a record 800-plus coronavirus deaths in one day

A record daily high of more than 800 fatalities were reported in just one day on Tuesday in New York City, according to city health officials.

The national daily total of 1,909 new deaths was also a record high, according to Johns Hopkins University. It is unclear whether the New York City figure was used in compiling the US total.”

[...]

"We have to be smart. We have to be safe. ... We do that by staying at home," he told reporters.

US coronavirus cases are nearing 400,000 and the death toll has reached at least 12,895. However, health officials say parts of the country that leaned in heavily to social distancing measures may be seeing a slowdown in the growth of cases.

Yeah I tried getting a peapod delivery slot and gave up. Then I had to wait my turn to even just be able to access the shop rite website. Once I got my turn an hour later, there wasn’t even any availability. I’ve given up on grocery delivery. I’ll just gear up with my mask and gloves and physically go to the store myself. I can be in and out pretty quick thankfully.
