Coronavirus: No deaths and 38 new cases confirmed in Ireland

HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE confirmed that no further people with Covid-19 have died in Ireland.

A further 38 new cases have been reported, bringing the total number of cases in this country to 26,065.

There have been a total of 1,763 deaths related to coronavirus.

Out of today’s cases, 22 are men and 16 are women. The median age of the new cases is 30, with 82% under 45 years of age.

Thirty-two of the newly reported cases are in Dublin or Kildare, with 26 linked to current outbreaks or to close contacts of confirmed cases.

Last night, health officials expressed concern after 85 new cases were reported.

Of the 123 cases reported in the last two days, at least 19 are from community transmission, with 20 cases under investigation.

Over the last two days, 44 cases have been linked to Kildare, while 33 were confirmed in Dublin.

Yesterday, Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn confirmed that a significant number of cases were linked to an outbreak at a meat factory in Naas, Kildare. Today, he said that “mass testing has now taken place in relation to a number of known outbreaks”.

He warned that Ireland “may be beginning to see more cases which we cannot link to outbreaks or close contacts”.

“The National Public Health Emergency Team will continue to monitor this situation closely over the coming days,” he said.

Earlier today, HSE Chief Paul Reid asked people not to be scared but instead be diligent this weekend following the spike in cases.

I'm not sure what you are trying to convey to me but thankx for sharing. I have a son named Tony and am thankful that he and my daughter-in-law can work from home in
Covid infested Houston. He is happy with his wife and 3 cats...;)

Good-looking trio! The one on the right is either chubby or extra fluffy! (like me)

This just hit me.
Looking at all threads we have about COVID-19 and the fact that we post 24/7
The total number of comments
is well below the # of deaths in the US.
It took me by surprise, I thought for sure our comments would outnumber the deaths.
Sad...

Nothing new, today. Only fireworks were when a couple of reporters asked how people are supposed to live on AZ's $240/wk unemployment.

A couple of guys asked what specific metrics are need for bars and gyms to open, but all they got back was a lot of double talk.

You have to automatically add $600 to the $240, so it is $840 a week.

Coronavirus testing czar predicts US pandemic deaths could start declining 'in a couple of weeks'

One of the Trump administration's top coronavirus advisers told "The Daily Briefing" Friday that the number of pandemic deaths in the U.S. should start to decrease soon, though he warned Americans will still need to take precautions like wearing masks.

"What you're seeing right now is that the positivity rate is down, the numbers of cases are starting to go down, the hospitalizations are going down," Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir told host Dana Perino.

"But the unfortunate, sad fact, is the mortality, the deaths, will lag a couple of weeks," he added. "So, I'm not making any promises here, but if everything follows, we should start seeing the numbers of deaths go down in a couple of weeks.

"And then it's up to us," Giroir went on. "If we do the things we know so well now that work -- we have evidence on top of evidence that simple mask wearing, if everybody does it, can completely reverse this -- then we're not going to see [any new increases]. But if we don't do that, until we get a vaccine, 90 percent of the population is still at risk to get this virus and that could be catastrophic if we don't do those kinds of actions we're asking."

OMG do not take what one person says and run to the finish line with it...

NO... Covid is not going to last forever just because this guy says so. In earth's time all viruses have faded. This is taking longer but so what? It takes longer then.
BBM. Respectfully, that is not true. Polio and diptheria are still around in countries with low vaccination rates. And the many childhood diseases too.

Victoria's coronavirus crisis: fear hangs over Melbourne and nothing is like the first wave

The morale-boosting markers that were shared across Melbourne during the first lockdown have all but disappeared. Rainbows have peeled off fences, forgotten teddy bears are wedged between Venetian blinds and most of the chalk messages have long washed away.

“This isn’t like the first wave,” our chief health officer, Brett Sutton, said on the Saturday. By the Monday, with the daily presser citing our then record highest number of Covid cases at 532, and cement grey cloud obscuring the sun, Melbourne felt done in. Come Thursday, under a blue sky, with blossoms out and wattle blazing, Victoria clocked 723 – a number that winded the city. And now the fear is back.
Maybe it’ll go down. It’s not a surprise, they say. But maybe this is what it feels like as Covid closes in. Because Sutton is right, nothing about this experience is like the first wave.

The casino here in Detroit is opening next week at 15% capacity--
as much as i love the slots i wont be going-- even with masks

SOUTH CAROLINA

SC announces new case of MIS-C along with 1,346 new COVID-19 cases, 45 more deaths

"DHEC also announced another child in South Carolina has been diagnosed with Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), which is associated with COVID-19. The child is between the ages of 10 and 17 and lives in the Upstate, where three other recent MIS-C cases have also been identified."

Another one in SC? Ugh.

Bringing over to MIS-C thread. Thanks.

Dr. Seheult, who many here have been following since January, has been talking about NAC for months, since April. Here are a few of his videos on NAC and how/why it assists.

April

May

July

I soooo agree. Dr. Seheult is really good.
This latest one, Update 100, is also very good because he accents which specific updates brought really new information on this explosive covid research road. How to keep safe/supplements (like the NAC mentioned), the newer understandings of the microbiology are some of those topics....

Can't remember if we've seen this.

Hundreds of Georgia campers infected with coronavirus at YMCA camp in just days, CDC report finds

According to the report, of the 597 residents who attended the camp, 344 were tested and 260 tested positive for the virus. The camp was only open for four days before being shut down because of the virus, and officials followed all recommended safety protocols.

That is horrid news.
You would think, being outside, may have been safer.

It's stories like this that really make me wonder how widespread this is - especially in places that never really closed. I've noticed that every place I go it seems like everyone is coughing. I'm noticing that most people I talk to know others that have tested positive, but none have had negative outcomes, which adds to the complacency. At the Governor's presser, yesterday, they said that the "testing blitz" expected to do 60K tests. About 15K showed up, so they are sending the remaining 45K kits to other parts of the State, to see if there's any more interest there.

My allergies are awful. I cough year round from them. Let's *hope* you're hearing allergy coughs. JMO

Catching up on NBC Nightly News:
This congressman refused to wear a mask, and says in this video he doesn’t want to get germs on the mask then breathe them in. He got Covid. Was supposed to travel on Air Force 1. So far he is asymptomatic.
