NAC is definitely an interesting possible treatment and warrants more study/investigation as to its efficacy.

However, it's apparently not advisable for asthma sufferers to take it, nor those already on blood thinners. It's also recommended to take Vitamin C alongside it, to reduce the chance of developing kidney stones.

i just want to comment on taking large doses of vit C--I took 1000 mg of Vit C
every day for 35 years believing it protected me from colds -- in 2017 I developed a
kidney stone which eventually passed--- i did a little research on line and
learned that there are some studies that demonstrate if a person takes 1000 mg
or more a day, you greatly increase your chances for developing stones-- i decided
to stop taking Vit C supplements. you can google information about vit c
and its relationship to the development of kidney stones-- i cant say VitC was
the only cause, but i have no doubt Vit C contriuted to it.

Some quick references:

Mayo Clinic / Vitamin C

“In some people, oral use of vitamin C can cause kidney stones. Long-term use of oral vitamin C supplements over 2,000 milligrams a day increases the risk of significant side effects. Tell your doctor that you're taking vitamin C supplements before having any medical tests.

Probably can just increase the intake of oranges and other natural sources of Vit C. Sources that the body can deal with.

So many of our health supplements and medications have other cr*p in them that can build up and harm the liver and/or other organs eventually.

It is not as if these supplements and medications are pure Vitamin C or whatever. When I asked a pharmacist one time what pills are made of ... "excipients" .... unnamed additives and substances that help to hold the pill together.

Yes, which is why I try to buy “food based” vitamins as much as possible. They have food based Vitamin C.

The demise of US textiles was a result of cheap imports, overseas labor, big-box retailers and U.S. trade policy. JMO

Driven by the desire of so many people to have so much stuff, especially cheap clothing. And the Walton family and others learned to make billions off of that desire - people accepted the stuff in the stores, marked up so high - with slave labor in China at one end, increasingly unhealthy and impoverished people in the US - and certain companies making billions.

So now, we reap what we sowed.

People paid $200 for athletic shoes, purchased at Footlocker or whatever, in some mall (mall took a cut) but made in China or Indonesia for a few dollars.

Now, the billionaires are happily making even more money during the pandemic, with no real tax reform possible given the situation in Washington.

Right now it’s considered “rare”. Hopefully it stays this way. Honestly, I’m not optimistic, JMO. I expect to see a lot more of it.

My honest concern is for the babies and littlest ones. If this virus is creating an unstable immune system so that the immune system is attacking the brain of younger adults (causing strokes, paranoia and other things mentioned in previous posts), how is it affecting the developing little child?

I think you might find that they contain food based vitamins as opposed to synthetic vitamins, but the actual pill ingredients are still other unnamed stuff (excipients) that act as a conduit for the intake of those vitamins.

In other words, the vitamins/medications are added to other unnamed pill ingredients.

Here is an article about the excipients and some of their dangers, if you are interested.

Pharmaceutical excipients – where do we begin?

Same applies to vaccines. Which is why I am concerned about the initial rounds of covid vaccines, once they are developed without long term testing.

And just think where many of these meds/supplements are made ... in places where they have contaminated their own baby formula.

Masks you keep on but eat or drink through?!

All the experts stress not to touch the outside of your mask, to think of it as potentially having picked up the virus on the outside front.

While inserting a straw through the hole in the mask, the straw would touch the “contaminated” part. And then you’d be putting the now contaminated straw straight into your mouth.

Umm, no.
MOO

Unique Coronavirus Masks Allow You To Gobble Food Like Pac-Man, Sip Through A Straw, Or Show Your Smile

The rightly designed mask would be single use and yes, that's possible. Put the straw through the hole after sanitizing your hands. Then put on the mask and use the straw.

In any case, the amount of virions transferred from the outside of a multiple use mask would be small unless you were constantly in an environment with high viral load.

I think it bears repeating that the main method of transmission is people breathing, talking, singing, etc. While we should be mindful of touching our faces after touching something that could have virions, each subsequent touch has less virions.

If.a person used sanitizer/soap and water on their hands, put on a fresh mask to use the straw, then put the straw through, there would be no extra virions on the straw - it will have gone through a sterile mask, and unless the person doing this was breathing out virions, all would be well.

It just takes a lot of getting used to. Personally, I could not care less whether I go out and drink at a bar or restaurant. And, almost everyone I know is in the same boat with me. We're staying home. We're having a lovely time doing wine tastings, preparing great meals, etc., for ourselves and for people in our "bubble" (although we do not have anyone coming into the house).

The mask linked to, in your post, is pretty cool, as it allows people who are hard of hearing to see the lips move - but that's also key in learning. Subtle concepts cannot be taught with a mask on, the nuances of our expressions are lost. The lever opening the mask shouldn't be touched, I suppose, without sanitizing the hands - but if a person is so determined to go out and drink soda/tea/cocktails/whatever, then I think that mask is a good idea.

Vaccines are tested. It's not actually rocket science - there are only a few components. If you check where your actual Rx meds come from, most come from the same places (in the case of the Oxford vaccine, it's India - and Oxford is very much involved in the production process; most of my meds come from India to begin with).

I think it's really strange to say "they" have contaminated baby formula. Are you speaking of China? Because that's not where our first batch of vaccines is coming from. We will be sharing the vaccines with UK and, apparently, India.

The US doesn't make many pharmaceuticals - and I don't think Australia makes a lot, either. Almost all our statins, heart meds, anesthetics and so on come from India (I think the US also gets meds produced in Canada and Mexico).

I am reading, though, that New Jersey may be producing pharma. But my two Rx drugs are made in India. They are tested in multiple ways (that's what university level pharmacologists do - they don't just count out the pills, they also test them for potency; V.A. hospitals all have professional pharmacologists as well, and they test chemically for purity - which is all a person needs, IMO).
