Yes, I think that many that have followed Dr. Campbell and Dr. Seheult here have realized it may need an annual shot (a la flu vax), and that it may be something that is endemic vs. wiped out.

As to the masses, another difficult thing that we discuss here that many in our social circles may not know. So far.... 3 things I can think of now that our social circles may not know?

Any others that I would think most all here would agree on, but few amongst folks we know?

  1. It is a blood disease that causes most of the issues. It can enter through the body with cells that have the ACE2 receptors such as conjuctiva, lower lungs, gut.. but the BADDDD chit is the secondary cascade issues in the blood which affects long term and multi-organs after the inflammatory stage.
  2. Neutralizing immunity may be very short. Percentage wise, it appears that are indeed occurances of less than one year to be reinfected - yet one year vaccines with COVID combined with flu shots may be most cost effective and the outliers won't push to having a vaccination more frequently than once a year. One shot a year that has BOTH?
  3. It looks like it's going to be endemic.
Those are my 3 that I don't think are commonly known yet we at WS would most likely agree with?

I see a lot of your point 1 around here. Jmo

We're way past unity. I realize you don't live here, so probably don't realize that, so no blame being thrown your way. But my point still remains, first the US gets attacked for not wearing masks. Then, when we do, it isn't the right mask. We can't win for losing lol. Jmo

I am very sad to hear that you feel you are way past unity.

If we did adequate tracing this could be proved or disproved. I guess the virus just stays at the door of schools? Our local public schools were openly pleading last week with the parents to have their children wear masks because mask usage was declining. And a local highschool shut down entirely this week for 2 weeks due to so much rampant covid.

I have small children. Thinking they will be super clean and wear their masks consistently for weeks and months on end and not be vectors of disease seems pretty ludicrous to me.

My 7 yr old grandson clings to his mask like he once did for a stuffed animal. He has it hanging from his neck even when it is not required, i.e. in the car, outside. Amazing the transformation. I think he is frightened.

Thank you providing that, musicaljoke...I was just going for some guidance links, but unfortunately can’t trust some of them anymore due to WH pressure on the CDC and clearly documented revisions - Moo JMO

@Seenit , please let us know if you need help with anything, specifically. You’ve been here in the threads, so the good thing is you have education on your side to help provide guidance, resources.

PS, you are third person today that has said to me today that their child has covid.

Sending best wishes for no/minimal symptoms for your child and negative results for you and your family. :hearts:

Good one, Dixie.
I truly am so grateful for WS, and particularly, this discussion.

It depends upon what type of vaccine is used, but probably the same vaccine will be used for both groups. If live or attenuated live vaccine is used then the most concerning group will be those who are positive but asymptomatic for covid at the time of vaccination.

Another COVID-19 Vaccine Joins the Race – This Time, it’s a Live, Weakened Virus | BioSpace

Just focusing on those who have had the infection previously, yep, since it's a short life we are already seeing with B cells and their neutralizing antibodies.. those that have had the infection may be like what is appearing as the direction we are headed with waning neutralizing antibodies. They/all will need an annual ????? boost (time to be determined)

Ummm, vaccination for an active infection? That would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late to help boost as it take too long MOO to get the neutralizing IgG antibodies............well, I'm not even going into such as not biologically credible MOO. In the case where someone is in an active infection...other interventions than a vaccine would be preferred MOO.

And in reading it, I don't see that they state that clearly.

I've never heard of that folks with ANY active infection of a virus is treated with a vaccine? Yet... is there? HIV?? And I'm ignorant??.

Looks like an excellent resource. Thank you for sharing!

For anyone interested, but w/o the time needed to read the site, this is from the list of supplies to have on hand when caring for a family member with covid at home:

Medical masks if available, or non-medical mask or face covering
Eye protection (face shield or goggles) for use by caregiver
Disposable gloves (do not re-use) for use by caregiver
Disposable paper towels
Tissues
Waste container with plastic liner
Thermometer
Over the counter medication to reduce fever (e.g. ibuprofen or acetaminophen)
Running water
Hand soap
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol
Dish soap
Regular laundry soap
Regular household cleaning products
One-step cleaner/disinfectant
Hard surface disinfectant, or if not available, concentrated (5%) liquid bleach and a separate container for dilution
Alcohol prep wipes or appropriate cleaning products for high-touch electronics

We can all do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Thank you!

Coronavirus: France and Germany have announced second national lockdowns

President Emmanuel Macron confirmed his country's widely-expected measures, which will begin on Friday and remain in place until 1 December. They will not include closing schools.

Measures will include:

  • Shutting restaurants and bars
  • A travel ban between regions
  • An emphasis on people staying at home
  • A focus on working from home
  • Closing external borders outside the Schengen Area
  • Universities moving to online teaching
The only reasons people should leave their homes, Mr Macron said, will be to buy essential goods, seek medical attention, or exercise for an hour a day.

It comes hours after similar plans laid out by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who said her nation will enter a four-week lockdown from 2 November.

I am too. Believe me.

I truly believe we could gain great ground against this virus if we could attempt:

To educate with kindness,
To hold ourselves to a high standard (like wearing a mask at all times, no excuses),
Honestly, I'm so tired of words (I used these words myself the other day, I guess I fell off the curb for a bit) like covidiot, selfish, moron, etc. People are just flat mean.

Aussie breakthrough: anti-COVID nose drops

Australian researchers have commenced human trials on a self-administered drug that could provide short-term protection against COVID-19.

The treatment, developed by Perth-based Linear Clinical Research, comes in the form of nasal drops that potentially provide up to four hours of protection.

LCR CEO Jayden Rogers said the short-term vaccine will be distributed to front-line health care workers.

"It's hoped that the anti-body will bind up the virus and prevent, or limit, the infection, particularly for those high-risk groups," he said.

Mr Rogers said he expected current trials to be complete by Christmas.

I guess a person would need to step outside of the US to see how odd and polarising and inflating-the-issues that looks.

Not a unity thing. A US flag mask would be a unity thing - if a person wants to make a statement. And many of us think that unity is what the US needs quite badly, right now. If the covid plague is going to be tackled in an effective way.

IMO
On the bright side, it helps me know who to avoid. :p

Just came back from visiting hubby who has been waiting two days to have an echocardiogram performed. I learned today that Covid patients are mixed in with regular patient rooms and I was shocked. i walked out into the hall for a moment, forgot my mask and a nurse told me i needed a mask and this was a "Covid Floor"- I said "you're joking?"-- later i was told it was not a Covid floor but that Covid patient rooms are mixed in with regular patient rooms. I told her i thought that was not a great idea. She told me that up until three weeks ago all Covid patient rooms were together but that changed recently. I just don' think that is a good idea- am I wrong?
You weren't wearing your mask inside your husband's room? I'm surprised they allowed that TBH. All our hospitals require masks at all times.

BBM:

So, Germany and France think creating a police state is the answer?

No, thanks….Hard pass.

I'm with Patrick Henry:

"Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!"

When all else fails...try try again?

(It's never going to work in France...mmw)

(And Germany well - they will have it done in short order like they did earlier - no month-long lockdowns for them! 90% compliance...14 days...then a renewed closure of the border with France - which shall get interesting)

Yes, and there's some in France too. In fact, this has the potential for getting rather ugly in France.

Pedestrian traffic had been low before the orders were given, so the average French person may be thinking that the government is being too bossy (authoritarian). My only sources on this are reddit and comments section of leparisien and opinion pieces in various papers.

At any rate, today's foot traffic (streaming cams, etc) is way way down - so people get it. But...a month? There won't be much need for extra policing/checks on individuals if Paris stays uncrowded (but...if it's like the first shutdown, it won't stay that way for long - maybe they figure if they mandate 30 days, Parisians will stay home for 15).

Meantime, things are very unsettled on the streets, and mask/anti-mask people are colliding on public transport in at least 4-5 European nations.

Yes. But I'm referring to us here. Individuals have more pull than we realize. Jmo
