New Canaan is holding it's annual "Family Fourth" 4th of July event at Waveny Park tomorrow. Gates opens at 5pm. Vehicle access passes need to be purchased to get in. The fee is slightly higher for non-residents.

The event is held on the south lawn with the Town Band set up on the back patio. Always a fun time.

The fireworks are set up on the southwest corner, near Lapham Road where JD car was found. LE has the Lapham Road blocked off between the Merritt Parkway bridge to the back entrance off of Lapham. Vehicles can use the main or back entrance.

Many park at the high school or middle school and walk in through the trails.

Too bad can't get that crowd to coordinate a grid search of the park...

The pinging of the phones on the dumpster run may have been the biggest mistake of this whole crime. NP may have been able to introduce reasonable doubt for the garage, Wavenly Park etc. but I cannot figure out he can explain away the tapes of the disposal of the plates in the sewer and the bags in the dumpsters.

I agree - unless he keeps up with the revenge suicide and claims the garbage bag dump was to shield the children - but the plates? and I'm still hoping that fedex box was re-used from a delivery to him or the Fore Group (with label intact). JMO

It's not hard to figure out why FD wanted to dump bloody material
in trash bins in Hartford, especially on the North End.

Also would it be true that blood alone does not stink, that maybe it would need to have decomposing tissue to have the characteristic smell? IMO people might not be alerted to just bags but if they were to stink (after 4 days in the hot sun) that might be another story. However I don't know how much reporting the North End of Hartford does. Probably a sawzall tool would disappear forever quickly if you left it on the side of the road there too.

That park was searched by people and dogs and the pond was drained, all in the first week after her disappearance. It would be a miracle if she had been put there and not found by now. It is highly unlikely he could have prepared a grave beforehand and also highly unlikely he could have dug the grave the day of her disappearance.

Also, adding to the suggestion that financial/business issues were foremost at that time in the divorce case, FDs divorce attorney at the time was Michael J. Rose. Rose is a specialist in employment and business law, not matrimonial/divorce law (and has since begged off the case). He was going up against JDs lawyer who is one of the toughest, best known divorce attorneys in the state.
So that to me tells you something of where FDs fight was- not the kids, but his “alter ego” Fore Group. The hearing was focused on JDs claim of FD hiding his assets and providing untruthful financial disclosures. Someone posted on here links to emails between the attorneys requesting Quickbooks accounting from Fore that were part of the divorce documents.

I completely agree that the upcoming financial disclosure hearing the following week provided motivation for FD to harm JD. “Is there anyone who stands to benefit from this person’s disappearance?” Is the first question LE asks in a missing person’s case. In this case, all of the dirty financial practices of FD and Fore were about to unravel.

Our brains are in synch. His company was his “alter ego” as JD said in her many divorce motions. He acts like he has a brass set of (you know whats) naming his company after himself and his sister Rena. No mention of HF at all. HF likely was dealing with health issues for most of 2015-until his death at 83 at home on 1/08/17. MOO.

Again the absolute audacity for FoDu to suggest that HF fronting the money to him was a gift and not a loan and since he died FoDu didn’t have to pay him back. Probably where FoDu got the idea in the first place to off JD. Certainly FDs moms death should be looked into.

JD dies and Now FoDu doesn’t have produce any financials. He’s already filed motions to stall in the divorce case. Yet again! He is only concerned with one thing: status and money and looking like a big shot to his family and friends back home in Greece. It’s so obvious it’s sickening.

MT is beyond dumb if she doesn’t think he only kept her around for a purpose and that purpose wasn’t love/sexy time or whatever. It was for her to help him promote his business as she had a background for such and bc she was getting hefty support payments for her daughter. I really hope she had some (as we say in the south) “Come to Jesus” meeting with someone who knocked some sense into her. He was using her like he does everyone else. The peeps back home, as long as they hero worship him, he’ll dole out the money because his image is all he cares about. He’s the MOST affected by this? Wow! Not even his kids? Just he is the most affected? I hope he looks like an orange popsicle the rest of his life and told when to sleep, eat, etc for the rest of his sorry life

ONLY thing in my head is that he only figured they would be looking at cell records during the time of the murder OR that he wasnt trying to raise any suspicion with MT. Any other ideas?

He was also likely needing to keep watch on the media/local news, social media, FB, etc. to see what was being reported about JD being missing. He needed to know if/what they were onto. Remember, he was supposed to get the kids the next morning, so he had to stay updated about what information was coming out, he couldn’t just look the other way until it blew over.

If he didn’t know about the NY plan, he would have expected that she would be reported missing at least by dinner time. In retrospect, we know that the report wasn’t made until 7pm, but since JD was clearly harmed in the garage early that morning, FD had to have been monitoring social media etc during the day to keep up and see what was being reported and if they were onto him.
And remember, FD thought that they wouldn’t associate Hartford with JDs disappearance, he never thought they’d catch him dumping the bags. It looks so different in retrospect given the CCTV footage.

There are so many people going through Waveny, even in the more remote trails, the odor from decomposition would have been noticed if her body was there, unless in a very solid grave, which he couldn’t have dug there without notice.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I remember someone mentioning way back in a thread that her garage door was left open when she went to drop off the kids. I don't recall reading that in an article though. Also the same for the supposed call JD took from a friend in the 9am time frame. That may have also been a rumor but both would be helpful to verify.

keep in mind while reusing a fedex box with his name would tie him, it was confirmed that the plates were expired plates from an old suburban he use to own. that connects him already.

Agree. If FD is responsible for this -- he may have been trying to appear as normal as possible, at least in afternoon/evening (ie reachable by phone/text). JMO.

I would personally like to see the park searched again.

I didn't realize the pond was actually drained, I knew it was searched.
I know the park was searched too but I have followed cases where parks have been searched and cleared and then poof, body shows up in that same park.

People and dogs are fallible and one can never be too thorough, IMO.

I keep thinking about the stupid license plates. It was a very deliberate move to use tape, leave it on, protect them by putting them in a box, and carefully store them in sewer drain. FD did not put them in the trash on purpose. He did not want them accidentally picked up and shredded at the waste facility. He was able to so far be successful in hiding an entire body, but not 10 yr old license plates?

Doesn’t it seem like he wanted them to be found, wanted the tape to be peeled back and reveal plates perhaps “stolen” from his garage, and at the same time link to tape perhaps found in someone’s truck??

NEW CANAAN — The town’s police chief says he can “foresee” more charges filed in the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.

It has always intrigued me as to how JD prepared for and made the sudden move from Farmington to NC and how long it had been in the works. How did she pull that off and NO ONE KNEW. How that fact alone must have infuriated FD.

She must have confided in someone who helped her find the Welles home, that would have taken time. It must have been someone who had experience with DV situations etc. to be able to do that without FD even having an inkling of what she was doing.

The first few weeks after leaving a DV situation and filing for divorce are the most dangerous for any woman, and that has been proven time and again. In her case though, it took two years and not two days or two weeks for him to act against her.

A family member had to do this same thing and had only a few, longtime friends who knew and understood why, and together, they planned it all out. One friend found a house to rent, etc.

Maybe she thought he just wanted to talk. I think most here would not believe that, but is very possible. You keep hoping that the other person will do the right thing. Maybe he showed up and she went into the garage to talk to him, leaving the door ajar behind her.

I said upthread when I quoted this post that this comment reminded me of Diane Downs. For a refresh she went for a drive with her three kids in the car and claimed she pulled over for a bushy haired stranger who shot her in the arm and killed one child and severely wounded the other two. When asked about her ordeal if she was lucky to have survived she said the following (while her two surviving children were still clinging to life in the hospital):

“When asked about her being shot in the arm, Downs replies, “Everybody says, ‘you sure were lucky.’ Well, I don’t feel very lucky. I couldn’t tie my damn shoes for about two months.” (Later she says my kids were lucky not me and then in another interview says that she couldn’t have shot them because if she did she would have finished the job)

Pretty much all I need to know about FoDu and his self absorption. The mask is off y’all and he is in full blown protect mode.

I have not been able to bring myself to watch it but I hoped that someone was making up that quote when I first heard it. Clearly not. I believe that sentence tells us all we need to know about the essence of FD.

New here so not sure how to add to what I previously posted, but IMO I would think that one might be able to section off a body into 3-4 large hiking backpack sized packages. With the Metacomet Trail (right behind Jeff Xing), one might not draw too much suspicion carrying a large hiking backpack especially during daytime hours. the Metacomet Trail connects to the West Hartford Reservoir (WHR)Trails. walking down the town road to get to Metacomet or the WHR with a backpack might get some attention, but following the powerlines down to Metacomet or the Red Trail would keep you off the road. IMO.
Also, though most of the local terrain is very rocky, one might consider that a gas line, water lines, and powerlines run through the West Hartford Resevoir, so IMO if I was going to try to dig a hole I'd start there.

Following the power lines. Yes. Until the Rhoden case, I had no idea about the access ways for those in wooded/rural areas.

I know FD doesn’t have horses but could horses be used to look in some spots where it’s hard to go otherwise? They are very sensitive to smells of decomposition, too.

When I had a business Fed Ex would provide me with packaged
Fed Ex envelopes and boxes with no identifying information on them about my business name or address. They were just blank.
I had to use pre-printed labels before sending. Maybe this is what they used. New, unused Fed Ex material.
