Poised, until recently, for a high-profile trial uncommon for civil defamation suits, the case of Zenaida Gonzalez v. Casey Anthony won't go before a jury anytime soon.

The potential trial — delayed recently from April to Jan. 2, 2013 — promises much for those who followed Anthony's murder trial: More drama, new details and, potentially, Casey Anthony back in an Orange County courtroom.

But a possible barrier looms on the road to a second Casey Anthony trial: On Friday, a judge in the case will hear arguments about whether Gonzalez's claim has the legal standing to proceed.

Will Casey be in court?

Assuming the lawsuit goes to trial in January as planned, will Casey Anthony even attend?

Normally, the answer would be yes. But Anthony is currently in hiding, so if Gonzalez's attorneys want her to appear in court, they may have to find her first.

"It's an unusual situation, one not seen by me in the 35 years that I've been practicing law," says Orlando attorney and WFTV-Channel 9 legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.

Casey Anthony is turning to God.

The 26-year-old Florida woman, who was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, plans to be baptized, an "insider" tells Radar.

The ritual will take place "sometime this month" and is part of Casey's transition to a new, post-trial life, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

"Casey believes that Caylee is with God now and wants to ensure her own salvation so that she'll see her daughter again someday," the source said.

What Trayvon Martin shares with Caylee Anthony

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment_tv_tvblog/2012/03/what-trayvon-martin-shares-with-caylee-anthony.html

Trayvon’s death has stirred outrage across the nation and the world. That fury brings to mind the anger over Caylee Anthony’s death. People abhor the unnecessary deaths of children, our most precious resource, be they 2 years old or 17.

The day people stop being outraged, that’s the day we’ll need to start worrying. But it sure is disheartening to see Central Florida back in the headlines this way.

On Friday at 1:30 p.m. a Judge will hear Anthony’s defense attorney argue for dismissal of the lawsuit.
Also on Friday afternoon, Gonzalez's attorneys will ask the judge to order Anthony to turn over copies of a video diary she has been keeping since her acquittal and which she referenced in a video blog that recently surfaced online.

Monique Turenne in The News With Jose Baez

A Canadian woman convicted of second degree murder for the 1996 beating death of her husband is trying once again to prove her innocence. With the help of a high profile attorney, Monique Turenne wants more DNA testing done on items found at the scene.

Jose Baez, Casey Anthony’s trial attorney, filed the motion on behalf of Turenne. Despite his efforts, Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet denied the latest motion for post-conviction DNA testing last week.
...
"In his motion, the defense attorney, Mr. Baez, or whoever filed this motion on his behalf, seemed to gloss over the fact that she had confessed to her involvement in this case to the Canadian authorities," said Basford.

Baez has thirty days to appeal Overstreet's ruling, which Basford says Baez will do. The State Attorney's office only hopes the appeal will be denied like all of the other motions Monique’s filed since her conviction.

Back for a third year, the UCF Book Festival is growing into its ambition as the city's premier expo for lit lovers. Filling the celebrity role this year are "The Color of Water" memoirist James McBride and — drawing a completely different fan base — former Casey Anthony prosecutor Jeff Ashton (pictured), who has been boosting his already high profile with a book about the trial. Meet them and nearly 50 other authors between the shelves and in a series of talks, including a Southern cookbook panel.

Charisse Van Horn - US Headlines Examiner - March 29, 2012
On the March 28, 2012 episode of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Cooper interviewed Jose Baez, the criminal defense attorney who stunned the nation after defending Florida mother Casey Anthony and landing her an acquittal in the 2006 death of her daughter, Caylee Marie. Anthony was acquitted on charges of murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child; charges that could have sent her to death row. Weighing in on the case and the impact the surveillance video might have on George Zimmerman’s defense, Jose Baez stated............
