Homicide Det Peter Roddick says he did not tell Toni McHugh about other women. He asked her whether she was aware of others. #badenclay

Sleuthius, thankyou thankyou ... that was enthralling.... you captured the stubborness of the detectives on the stand perfectly!!...

Det Sgt Roddick said police had to warn Toni McHugh when she failed to tell them about a phone call with Baden-Clay.

Quite likely one would think - remember that QPS flew to Townsville about 12/6/12 to interview "someone", & GBC was arrested the next day - can't imagine who else of interest they had to speak with in FNQ - Just getting all their "Ducks in a row" methinks??? AIMHOO of course.:jail::jail:

Ow said to the media last week that she has given a formal statement to the police so yes she is a witness for the prosecution. Though she may be ultimately be a "hostile witness".

Toni McHugh told police she had no contact with Baden-Clay but police knew she had through "covert technology".

Now that's interesting - did she lie initially to police? How many times did she lie?

Anyone else seeing that how I am? Davis trying to discredit TM but in the process it looks like she was covering for G. Why? Because G said they had to 'lay low'

A big thank you to everyone who was in court today. Do any of you know what photos are under review for release to MSM? Plant species?

4.09pm: A FORMER homicide detective said investigators initially looked into whether Allison Baden-Clay's mental health had anything to do with her disappearance.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Pascoe, who was a Homicide investigator at the time, said they spoke to Allison's psychologist following discussions with two of her friends.

"We looked into what her health had been like, definitely," he said.

Defence barrister Peter Davis asked whether it would be fair to say that Baden-Clay was a person of interest in the investigation very early.

"Yes, I'd agree with that," Det Sgt Pascoe said.

Mr Davis asked whether Baden-Clay had been told to stay away from the ground search for his wife in case he came upon a possible crime scene.

"No, I don't recall that at all," the detective said.

"Not to my knowledge - but that's possible, yes."

:floorlaugh: Love it!

I also think Davis is suggesting that Toni should have been a suspect. Suicide theory not looking good, so another tactic perhaps.

4:33pm Marissa Calligeros: (Live from the Baden-Clay hearing) Detective Sergeant Pascoe's time on the stand was very brief. Mr Baden-Clay's defence barrister Peter Davis said he'll have more questions for Sergeant Pascoe tomorrow.

Detective Sergeant Peter Roddick, also from the homicide squad, was next to take the stand. His time giving evidence was also brief. He's expected to take the stand again tomorrow morning.

The hearing has formally ended for the day, although the barristers are once again discussing the photographs the media has requested be released. It's safe to say defence barrister Peter Davis isn't happy about our application...

Det Sgt Roddick also denied telling Baden-Clay to stay away from ground search for his wife. ''I'm not aware of that direction''. #badenclay

Its kind of like the taking the 5th statement - where gbc was not talking to police at that was in his best interests. In the US - family and friends are discouraged to look for the missing family members because those search parties are privy to inside info into the police investigation. And 9/10 times its family or friends that have committed the crime they are working on. So while I don't think police have gone to those lengths here in Australia - maybe gbc got this from one of the Good Wife episodes as well. My goodness he really needed to be watching 'the good husband' - that show did him no favours.

it just gobsmacks me that Toni was up and ready to lie from the get go.. I mean, it may well have been the first police interview in her life.. and a bit unsettling, as she was not a volunteer interviewee.. she was called in to the station... I dont think that interview would have taken place at her unit..

and yet.. right off the bat. no.. no contact. ..and maintained that lie, in the face of the circumstances unfolding ... a couple of QLD detectives can be a bit discomposing to face, your main squeezes wife is missing under suspicious circs, but no. Toni is up for it.

Mark A also said the same thing on camera when asked by a journo early on.

sorry to be a mood killer -

Sleuthis-maximus please be careful if you are typing to us directly from the courtroom. Then judge warned yesterday that the only people who should be using cellular devices or recording devices in the courtroom are the media representatives.

Anyone else who was there at the beginning of yesterdays proceedings can you please back me up on this ?

Yes he did wwgu, I got there a few minutes late but I did hear it too.
