Keeping my fingers crossed for cameras on the houses there. Somewhere I saw a video that explained her husband thought she was long gone to work when neighbors banged on his door. He didn't find out till much later that his wife and her car were in the garage. I can't imagine.....

I can't find it because I've been reading everything about Ashley's case that I can find but if I remember correctly one of the neighbors said the car was not damaged that badly but that they were told by LE not to discuss the condition of her body.

I'll try to find the source tomorrow. I'm going to bed now.

If you look several posts back, I posted a link to an article with video. You can see the car still in the garage and the driver side looks totally fine, except for the windows possibly looking a little warped (heat damage). The paint was perfect condition. It's about 35 seconds into the video. This is why I'm questioning all this.

Here is an update. Looks like the death was an accident, or due to one of the reasons below, but not murder.
May she R.I.P.

Authorities said her death appears to have resulted from a low-speed crash, an unknown medical condition, the fire, or some combination of the three.

"We have no evidence of any obvious malfeasance in her death at this time," said Capt. Michael Farish, of the D.C. police homicide unit. The department's major crash unit is handling most of the investigation for the police department.

It sounds like her body did not have any visable signs of trauma. So low-speed crash due to her passing out? While exiting the garage? But the car is not damaged?

An unknown medical condition?

I hope she wasn't hurt in the house and placed in the car and then lit on fire. MO

Those poor babies.

The one thing that makes me think it wasn't the husband is the age of the kids (I have seen it said 3 year old twins and a 1 year old OR 4 year old twins and a 2 year old, regardless, they're little). What man in his right mind would want to be a single parent to 3 little kids? I am not being facetious, I'm being serious. That's a lot of work - especially for a person in his position working a lot of hours I assume. Unless, of course, it was not planned and an act of passion.

She was a working mother as well with a demanding job. I am sure they had a nanny or caregiver. I don't know if a crime was committed and so I will not suspect the husband. MO

We've had two recent threads on women who were found dead in burned cars, one in Louisiana and one in New Hampshire. I remember IWannaKnow doing a good bit of research on the facts concerning car fires. We drive a newer BMW and my husband told me (way after the fact) that once a small fire erupted in some leaves we were parked on top of while we were eating lunch in the car. That's surely different than a driveway, though, unless she'd stopped to make or take a phone call and there was debris on the driveway.

The woman in LA was in a leased newer car and found parked near a lake. Not sure about the make of the car in NH but she was parked near a church. Both deaths were ruled accidental but seemed very suspicious to me. Here are our threads:

Just gave my husband the details. He's worked on BMWs for years--both classics and new ones. He said "no way, absolutely no way". He said that if she had stopped on top of leaves or a pile of snow, it takes a good bit of time for the catalytic converter to heat up and she'd have plenty of time to exit the car.

Plus, he pointed out that she wouldn't have been able to open the garage door if snow had built up. I kept saying, "but what if?" He kept telling me "not possible". The man is about the last one to believe in any sort of conspiracy but he also frequently makes the comment, "I don't believe in coincidences."

My problem with this story is how/why would the car suddenly catch fire if she was leaving the house and backed out of the garage doors? You would think if the gas tank ruptured there would have been an explosion. No word on that at all.

Maybe a spark from the car/garage door lit something (gas can or on floor) that caused the fire. Can you tell at all where the fire originated?

No, but the whole ceiling of the garage is burned and a support beam had fallen on the car. It's weird like the whole garage is completely burned up then you have this car with minimal damage sitting in the middle of it.

Here is a video of the fire as it was being put out. The fire appears to be at the front of the car and possible to the right, like the passenger side. But then when you put this with the pictures of the car afterwards, and there is minimal damage, I just don't understand why she didn't/couldn't get out.

Hinky meter bouncing off the table at this moment :waitasec: .

Maybe she had run the engine for a while to warm it up and didn't have
the garage door open and she was overcome with carbon monoxide gas
before the fire started.

Only things are there doesn't seem to be debris outside the garage if she had busted thru the garage door, and also, how would the car shift out of park?

My husband just stopped by and I had him watch the Atlanta video of the BMW on fire. First, he said to remember that many people in Atlanta aren't experienced at driving in the snow and ice as it's surely not as common there as in DC. Secondly, he said the car in the video was a sedan (a 525i) and the man was spinning his wheels like crazy. He said most likely the tires themselves caught fire due to friction. He didn't know why the Traction Control didn't override this, though.

He said possibly Ms. Turton couldn't achieve traction when she tried to back out of her garage and thus that's why the car was at an angle. He just could not believe that she would sit there and continue to spin the wheels as she would have better winter driving skills (unless she just moved there from a warmer climate). Plus, there's the noise component. He still thought that she'd have plenty of time to exit the vehicle if a fire did erupt. However, he didn't see the second video of Ms. Turton's "accident".

He also wanted me to point out two things. First, if cars caught on fire when people simply spun their tires, we'd have car fires every minute of the day (not taking into account someone excessively spinning them). And secondly, BMW has an incredibly high track record for safety. We've had two adult kids roll BMWs in the ice and walk away unscathed. The cars were totaled but no fires at all. We've also done a good bit of tire-spinning on the Siskiyou Summit in BMWs. No fires. BMW would be all over that.

People in Southern Oregon are not experienced in driving in the ice and snow like people in DC. The deputy who arrived at one of our kids' accident rolled his SUV down into the ditch trying to stop.

I just checked and Ms. Turton was formerly chief of staff for Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.). Being that she spent winters in Connecticut, she'd know how to handle winter driving, IMO.

anyone care to share theories on why her facebook page has been deleted? It was accessible yesterday around noon, and then a few hours later it was gone.

I would guess that the family didn't want strangers pouring over it and picking apart every detail of her life while they grieved. JMO. If my husband died in a high profile way I would do the same.

An old friend lost his dad in a car. His dad was reading the paper and the car was filled up with fumes, next thing we know he was dead.
Maybe she took a call and did not notice that the car is filing up with fumes?
I surly refuse to get on her grieving husband this early in this saga. All I can think of is Poor Men, he just lost a beautiful wife, and mom to his kids that is enough to deal with.

People can get ugly with no reason. NOW -IF we come up with reason to point at him, then it would be another story.

I have no idea how the house was laid out, where he was within the house in relationship to where that garage is, but all I can do for now is feel sorry for him and his children.
But do ask your husband missizzy how did my freind or anyones car end up with fumes, I can only imagine his foot was on the gas?
