I don't get it. Trump said he hires only the best. Huh.

jmo
Well, that would be the best of what is left after most attorneys won't touch his cases with a 10 foot pole. He gets the left overs---- and this situation is a perfect example of what you get when you scrape the bottom of the barrel!!!

An actual LOL and WTF at this:
"Despite his claims, they say, there are no parallels to Lincoln or Washington in his conduct."

Trump apparently compares his election denial to Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and Washington's Farewell Address. I would be offended except it's so idiotic. imo

Lincoln's Gettysburg Address: Gettysburg address delivered at Gettysburg Pa. Nov. 19th, 1863. [n. p. n. d.].

Washington's Farewell Address: Founders Online: Farewell Address, 19 September 1796

Quoting my own post to say, yay, this musical link is on topic!

The link is a short scene is from Hamilton when George Washington decides not to run again for president and asks Alexander Hamilton to help him write his good-bye speech. Trump compares his actions to Washington's farewell.

I was taught to admire the peaceful transfer of power in the United States. The presidential "good-bye'" is a national treasure to protect. Trump spat and trampled on that honorable tradition while his supporters cheered him on. imo

Anyway, this particular performance was prior to Hamilton being a hit on Broadway and was performed at the White House....with some familiar faces in the audience.

The man in the bright blue jacket is Lin-Manuel Miranda, playing Alexander Hamilton, and the tall gentleman in the suit is Christopher Jackson playing George Washington. It's worth the listen.

Please, enjoy!

Trump asks for a stay pending appeal of limited gag order:

If the Court does not enter a temporary administrative stay to permit orderly consideration of this and any subsequent stay motion(s), President Trump respectfully requests that this Court issue its ruling on this stay motion by Tuesday, October 24, 2023, after which President Trump intends to seek an emergency stay from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Such expedited consideration is highly warranted in a case raising First Amendment questions of enormous consequence. See Elrod, 427 U.S. at 373 (“The loss of First Amendment freedoms, for even minimal periods of time, unquestionably constitutes irreparable injury.”).

Am I reading this correctly? The defendant is giving the judge in federal court a deadline?
