DC - Justina gets standing ovation from Congress

So far, the Pelletiers' local paper, The Hartford Courant, has run only an AP story on the lawsuit being filed. No local reporting yet.

The comments on the Globe story (14 so far) show that most have NOT drunk the Pelletier Kool-Aid.

Someone on the Miracle Facebook page is posting bankruptcy docs from pacer. I'm sure they'll be gone soon. The docs include an objection from the Chapter 7 trustee to the Chapter 13 confirmation because they believe the family is using a $700,000 trust from the Miracle charity in order to make payments on the Chapter 13, but that the trust is an asset that should be used to pay creditors in the Chapter 7. The other doc is an objection from the Chapter 13 trustee saying that the family has no income other than the charity, and that the charity isn't a reliable source of income for the payment plan. They also state that the charity isn't complaining with state laws because they aren't filing financial reports or something. The guy's name is Jesse Katz..

He also added a motion to dismiss from the mortgage company, claiming that the purpose of filing the chapter 13 when the chapter 7 was pending was to obtain a stay on the foreclosure and is fraudulent. It says the chapter 7 was discharged but pending due to a personal injury claim (I'm assuming that's the lawsuit against BCH?)

More likely the personal injury suit refers to a fenderbender auto accident a few years back. The family is suing a guy who caused minor damage that they are claiming (quite probably falsely) has resulted in permanent physical and emotional problems for Linda. Not sure of the status of that case; I will post what I can find later.
ALSO: a plea to anyone who finds info, such as the bankruptcy dealings, on the Miracle site: PLEASE copy and save those posts as the Miracle site does delete them as quickly as they can. I cannot find the post you mention on the site now.

I am traveling today so I can't easily copy and save the comments. They are still there though. They are comments (multiple) to their post linking the Boston.com article about the family suing Boston's Children's. I was surprised to see that the comments were posted 8/26 between 8:22 and 8:26 am. As of this moment, nobody has responded positively or negatively to these 19 comments.

The documents are still there, they are in the comments section under the "Family of Justina Pelletier sues Boston Children’s Hospital" linked article.

Item 8: From February 2014 through June of 2015, the "Miracle for Justina Fund" received funds in the amount of $741,203.00.

"Jesse Katz" - who posted this to the "Miracle" Facebook - tagged several news organizations including the Boston Globe and Fox News. This appears to be the first post to Jesse Katz Facebook account.

They do appear to be the same documents that have been discussed here in the past. I am really surprised that the media has not done a bit more digging into this family's background and the details of this story.

I'm traveling for work and only have my phone, so saving items is difficult. But the Jesse Katz Facebook page appears to has ever all the docs posted.

I am usually good at googling but cannot find the comments you all are citing in that Boston.com story. I just read thru the entire comment thread and see nothing from Jesse Katz. And there are a whole bunch of Jesse Katzes on Fbook, so I am not sure which one to check. Could one of you send me a link or perhaps copy the Katz material to me as a private message on Websleuth? I really really want to read this stuff.....

Here is some info on the lawsuit (IMO, this is the one, not the BCH suit) that posters say Jesse Katz mentions. (I still cannot find any of his comments on any newspaper article thread or thru Google. It's driving me nuts.)

Anyway, according to a poster named Streydawg, who apparently REALLY has it in for the Pelletiers:

A couple of years ago they sued a Connecticut musician, Luke Bittner, who rear-ended their car on a highway off-ramp the year before Justina was taken to BCH. The suit claims Linda P. will suffer lifelong physical and emotional problems because of what seems to be mild whiplash and of course they are seeking big monetary damages.
He says look this up at http://civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov

He goes on to list a bunch of unpaid taxes and bills that he claims they are avoiding by citing the presence of a sick minor child in the home, which according to state law, prevents utilities from cutting off service to the Pelletiers even though they stopped paying some of these bills as far back as 2004. Some banks and hospitals are seeking money from them as well, he says.

For all I know, Streydawg and Jesse Katz could be the same guy, but whatever. The info he (they?) provide is worth looking into to see if it can be
corroborated.

1. US Gov't for unpaid federal taxes (2006, one year before Justina was diagnosed).
2. State of Connecticut for unpaid taxes (2007).
3. Connecticut Children's Hospital (2004 and 2006).
4. Hartford Hospital (2004 and 2006).
5. Jefferson Radiology (2007).
6. Open MRI of Middletown (2008).
7. CT Valley Chiropractic (2009)
8. Viking Fuel Oil (2007).
9. Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut (2009).
. Connecticut Light & Power (2011) $17grand in unpaid utilities.

The docs are posted on the Miracle Facebook page. In the comments section.

Sorry to sound like such a moron today, but I have visited the Miracle page over and over, have read all the comment threads on the links to the Globe, Boston.com, Boston Herald and the Fox stories and STILL am not finding the Jesse Katz posts. Maybe there is something weird going on with my browser.

I think that is what I have tried, to no avail, but will give it another shot. In the meantime, I now have the facebook link to Jesse Katz (who is female, not male) and I finally got to read the bankruptcy filing docs there. Hard to follow, but they sure do seem to be doing something skeevy.

thanks everyone!

Went to Miracle page and found an entry for Feb 25 at 11:31 pm with 46 comments, but no entry for Feb 25 at 8:31 pm. Which must be why I cannot find the Katz entry among the 46 comments. Maybe this has something to do with East coast/West coast time zones? Seems unlikely, but there is that 3-hour to the minute time difference...

Success! Tried it again and clicked on Most Recent and finally, the Katz photos showed up. Again, thanks to all of you who helped!!

Aha! You know, I was wondering if that time notation would possibly depend on what timezone we the viewers are in. I only know what timezone I am in and this forum software doesn't totally adjust for Daylight Saving Time. And, since I don't belong to Facebook I have no idea how to interpret the times that they list. It used to all be so simple. And, since I don't belong to Facebook, I can't view Jesse's page unless I join up. It is going to have to be something earth shattering to make me join Facebook.

Anyhow, that is the one, and the posts were still there last time I looked.

$741,203! Imagine that! And, from their Christmas photos, it doesn't appear that they have put any money toward or made any adjustments inside their home for Justina to be able to easily move from room to room.

Apparenty, my problem was that the Katz material had been added to the thread after the initial 46 comments were posted, and to see it required clicking on the Top Comments/Most Recent buttons, which was news to me.

And yes, the Pelletiers seem to prefer carrying Justina around, rather than retrofitting the home for wheelchair use. At least, that is what the photos suggest. Which leads me to wonder if maybe, just maybe, she actually does walk when there are no cameras around. IMO, we will never know.
Their house, valued at near $500,000, looks to be a raised ranch, which would have short staircases that probably could be made handicap-accessible with portable ramps.
