Wint didn't show up with weapon at the office. He was found sitting behind a dumpster of a gas station in some proximity to the office. I doubt the office even knew anything about it.

BBM. Of course the family-owned business would be told about it. It was five years ago, not ten.

Court records show that in 2010, Wint was charged after police found him sitting behind the dumpster of a gas station near American Iron Works with a two-foot-long machete in his backpack and a pellet gun. He pleaded guilty only to holding an open container of beer, and he spent one day in jail.

High Profile Family in the most elite neighborhood in the Nation's Capitol.

I don't know that "most elite neighborhood" is a correct description. I would say that it is "one of "the most elite neighborhoods, but by no means #1.

I agree with all of this.

The only reason the police would possibly connect the two is if they had been called in regards to incidents when DWWW worked there, or if AIW had an order of protection keeping him from the area, etc.

Wint was arrested for carrying a two-foot-long machete and a BB pistol outside the American Iron Works headquarters in 2010, but weapons charges were dropped after he pleaded guilty to possessing an open container of alcohol, reports the Associated Press.

This was certainly not a routine termination of a lower level employee, it is quite likely that SS remembered this episode. Therefore when SS came home on Wednesday, it may not have taken him long to assess what he was up against.

Just to play devils advocate: is it possible that he had braids first, then didn't care for them and they turned into a matted mess aka dredd style?

In the photo I posted, I see dreadlocs, not braids. His hair is twisted at the roots. We can agree to disagree. :)

sold in 2001 for $2.9 million; the family friend said it had been extensively renovated and was worth far more than that. And, the friend said, the couple owned other homes, including one on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

fair question:
In addition to striking a deep nerve in the most elite circles of Washington, the case has also raised soul-searching questions about why, when so many people die violently in impoverished parts of the city, these murders have attracted so much intense news coverage and discussion.

To answer that question it is because it is not an everyday occurrence for a husband, wife, 10 year old boy and their housekeeper to be tortured (held bound in duct tape for hours), ordered to withdraw $40K from a bank, bludgeoned to death, and set afire in their home by someone who was once in the employ of the husband. While crime may be more prevalent in the "inner-city" I highly doubt even this type of home-invasion/murder/arson (minus the money) is commonplace.

And a poster up thread claiming to have known the S family stated that Amy drove a Porsche SUV.

Yep the porsche cayenne would be the model of that SUV. I think we need to validate that person as a verified resource though before officially keeping that model in the list. Not that it shouldn't be believed, but anyone with information like that needs to be.

Yes. I fear when we hear all the hideous details, people will not be accusing the police of just favoring "the wealthy" for their urgency in this. Anyone who could do these things to a child...could do anything to anyone...in any income bracket.

There's a reason why he burned Philip's room. He wanted to hide what he did to Philip. Philip's burned body was found on top of the exposed bed springs. The fire was so intense that the mattress and bed frame were destroyed in the fire, as was the floor under the bed. So Philip's body was the source of the fire in the room. The fire was contained to his room and his adjoining bathroom.

Yes.

Any crime like this- where people are held hostage, tortured, and murdered in this manner would be investigated regardless of level of wealth of the victims.

Crimes like this have happened here in Rochester (just havent made national news like this) and have had victims who were very impoverished, and the local law enforcement agencies have had a full court press response to finding the killer(s) and getting justice for those persons victimized.

Honestly a lot of rhetoric about "rich white people get helped first" is very untrue.

It also makes me wonder what else that poor little guy had to endure that we dont know and may never know :( so heartbreaking.

The court documents from his arrest mention the link to AIW. Neither AIW or LE have said when Wint worked there.

Perhaps because he was an employee? The court documents mention the link to AIW. Both the Chief and AIW have refused to comment on the dates he worked there.

We don't knows what he was saying or...threatening. If a former employee was that close to the business with a machete and BB gun...and just muttering about what happened on "Dancing With The Stars"...it might not reach the company officially...but you can bet other employees would be gossiping about it.

If he was making threats, it would go up to SS. There's too much "workplace violence" these days, it cannot be ignored.
