Depositions Cancelled Suddenly In Casey Case

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV is working to find out why two defense depositions that were scheduled for Tuesday morning in the case against Casey Anthony were suddenly cancelled.

WFTV had reported that Casey's former fiancé Jesse Grund and his father Richard were both set to be deposed.

However, late Monday night that hearing was cancelled.

Casey and her family had previously tried to cast suspicion on Jesse Grund as someone who could have abducted Caylee.

The DEADLINE to depose all other witnesses is October 31, 2010.

The Defense was given a DEADLINE extension ONLY on witnesses who had been added to the State Witness List after May 24, 2010 (that does NOT include Jesse and Richard Grund).

Casey's Lawyers Depose Lead FBI Agent On Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's lawyers are deposing the lead FBI agent on the case Thursday, Special Agent Nick Savage. Savage and other federal agents were called in to investigate the out-of-state leads.

Former meter reader Roy Kronk's son was to be deposed Thursday as well, but court records show Brandon Sparks is not cooperating. Sparks claims Kronk, who found Caylee's remains, appeared to have inside information.

On Friday, Judge Belvin Perry will again hear arguments on whether to seal some of Casey Anthony's jail records. The new argument is based on a recent appeals court ruling.

However, prosecutors say the ruling isn't relevant in the case, because it applies to personal phone calls and not phone, visitation and jail account records.

Meanwhile, one of Casey's defense witnesses, who is under investigation for allegedly falsifying records, has a new lawyer. Texas EquuSearch volunteer Laura Buchanan has hired a Fort Lauderdale attorney.

Buchanan is accused of trying to help Casey by falsifying search records to make it appear that Caylee's body was not in the woods three months before she was found there.

This defense has no where to go, they are truly stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially when deceit seems to be their motives....thanks to ICA! :dance:

I thought that this is the list that LDB brought up at the status hearing and HHJP said that I guess they weren't taking anymore depositions then. I do realize Cawn, Stenger and Sigman were extended but not the rest. Is the defense going to actually taking the rest or not? mo

Guess what Burdick said about what the defense said about the deadlines was true ... they really don't think the deadlines are firm and they can pretty much do things the way they want and NOT as the court ordered ??? WTH ?? :waitasec:

Anyone know if the state can object to this ??

I was confused about what JP said during the hearing regarding these depos. He did say well I guess they won't be taking anymore depositions then. But later on he said well if you all can't work out a mutual time then I will set a time to have the depositions. Seems to me the defense got their way.
