LE isn't talking:silenced: and the DA isn't talking:silenced:and the family isn't talking:silenced: and the perp isn't talking:silenced:so the media isn't talking:silenced:....this case is just a bunch of frustrating :silenced::silenced::silenced::silenced::silenced:!

Let's hope that the Vigil will get someone talking.

abc11tv.com: Vigil to Remember Abaroa

More than 100 people attended a candlelight vigil to honor a Durham woman found murdered in her home one year ago.

Janet Abaroa died inside her Ferrand Drive home last April. Police still have not found her killer. Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong said the case is still on.

"I wish that I could give you more, but by my presence here, I commit to you that we will do everything we can to bring her killer to justice," he told the crowd at the vigil.

Police do not believe the crime was random, but no arrests have been made. Durham police would like to hear from anyone with information about the case.

GREAT NEWS! Let's make sure we hold him to it.

Thanks for sharing, JG!

I believe him. Mike Nifong will do the right thing by Janet Christiansen Abaroa.

But of course. :)

And I also believe that Nifong meant what he said. At this point in time, I have extreme confidence that the perpetrator will be arrested when the time is right. If that's five years from now, then so be it. But I believe that it will happen. And I believe that the perp knows that we know that he did it. And I think that the perp will start to crack eventually (if he hasn't begun to already).

I really feel that it's only a matter of time at this point. IMO, they're definitely on to you, you filthy, murdering creep.

Thanks for posting JG.

I am not convinced that the DA isn't just being a politician. "...we will do everything we can..." Duh! That statement doesn't sound like much to me. I hope I am wrong, but imo, this case has ever had priority in the Durham DA's office.

I agree, it has not had priority, and now with the Duke LAX mess, it will be even further down. Unfortunately, I think Nifong has a political motive to verything he says JMO

Didn't he win the primary prior to the vigil? He's running unopposed in the election so if he won prior to the vigil, there was no need to be political. He'd already won.

Edit: Nope, apparently the primary was on May 2. But I still don't want to be cynical. I have a good feeling about this case right now. I think that the murderer should start enjoying his freedom because I really believe that very soon, everything is going to come crashing down on him.

Enjoy the time you've got left. They're closing in on you.

While looking for the Nifong's win, I came across this interesting blog. Food for thought:

Is District Attorney Mike Nifong the Duke University Defendants' Best Friend? (Bill Bickel's Crimeweek, May 15, 2006)

Taxi driver Moez Mostafa, a strong potential witness for Duke University lacrosse player Reade Seligmann, has been arrested on a 2003 warrant. The charge stemmed form his having driven a shoplifter home after she stole 5 purses worth about $250 from a Durham, North Dakota department store. He denied any involvement at the time and in fact helped police find the woman (who subsequently pleaded guilty).

District Attorney Mike Nifong says he happened to have come upon the old arrest warrant while gathering background on witnesses. Mostafa’s arrest was not – not, he says – meant as an attempt to intimidate anybody else who might come forward with information or evidence supporting the defendants’ innocence ...

The defense has asked that Nifong be removed from the case, citing his hyper-aggressive prosecution but in fact they’ll be better off if Nifong stays: Any replacement prosecutor will still feel bound to follow through on the case, while Nifong will very likely self-destruct and take the case down with him. Just as Captain Ahab went after the whale, and Captain Queeg went after the strawberries, Nifong is going after the lacrosse players with a zeal that includes overseeing improper photo-lineups, over-use of the media, a rush to judgment that included a promise to continue prosecution even if no physical evidence is found, and now apparently a warning to any future defense witnesses...

So maybe we should be thankful for the slow, calm approach.

I do hope that it doesn't take five years. How horrible it would be for Kaiden to see (or at the very least be aware of) his father being taken off in handcuffs. The sooner Raven is arrested, the better it would be for Kaiden. And perhaps, there would be a better chance of the Christiansen's gaining custody of Kaiden. Of course, this child has been delt a bad hand in life at such a young age, but it seems like the best place for him would be with his mother's family. The sooner that happens the better chance he would have to adjust to the life that he has been given. (A life without his mother, because that is what his father chose for him).

Exactly, a life without his mother, because that is what his father chose for him.

What also makes me sick is that the same woman that raised Raven, a lying, conniving, thieving, adulter, convicted felon, and whom I believe is the Murderer of his own child, wife and the Mother of Kaiden, would even get the chance to raise Kaiden.

Maybe she wants a chance to get it right since she seems to have messed up so very, very badly with Raven.

"If you always do what you have always done, you always get what you have always gotten."

From what I have read here at Websleuths, SHE is doing what she has always done. The baby deserves better.

From everything I heard, she's a control freak and I wouldn't doubt if she knows he did it and will do everything in her power to cover up for him.

If I had to make an educated guess, by looking into the information on the embezzlement, I think she knew about the embezzlement in advance.

She's seems so much about looks, who has the biggest, the best and looking into her online activity, I think she's into weird "get rich" schemes.

I feel sorry for Kaiden, her husband and his children. Heck I feel sorry for her kids, they all seem to have issues.

She may end up being worse than Jackie Peterson, and that's saying a lot.

..if she "messed up" with raven, (and in my opinion she surely did, )raising a murdering ,lying son.......i can't imagine how or why that would give her the right to then try again with the child of the woman/wife/mother that her son stabbed to death.....

..i believe that kaiden would be much better off with janet's family..............the sooner the better..

..if raven's mother has changed her spots............(and i doubt it ) i would hope the court would look at her track record over a period of years before allowing access to kaiden....

..she's raven's mother...........is pro-raven to the end---------always will be------if she even does "want" kaiden, it's only to "have" kaiden------and be 1 up on janet's family.

I totally agree with you on this point, LJ. As soon as I read it, those recent pictures of Kaiden on www.tearsforjanet.com came to mind...and it just broke my heart.

He deserves so much better.
