For the very first time, we're hearing from the mother of murdered Bonita Springs Doctor Teresa Sievers.

Up to this point, Teresa Sievers' mother who lives in Connecticut has kept silent on her daughter's brutal killing.

But in an emotional interview with our NBC affiliate in New Haven, the family revealed new details about their vacation together in the days before Teresa's death and how they first found out she was murdered.

"We said goodbye. For some reason, I didn't want to let her go," said Annie Lisa, Teresa's sister.

Little did Annie Lisa know that would be the last time she or her family would ever see her sister alive.

A formal second-degree murder charge against Wright was filed two weeks ago, and Parker had filed a written not guilty plea on his behalf.

Now that the arraignment is complete, the prosecution and defense will begin sharing information, a step in the process that Parker said will be an important one.

"We look forward to receiving discovery from the state attorney's office," said Parker, who met with Wright at the Lee County Jail prior to the court appearance.

"We will be able to move forward with our defense at that time."

At the hearing, Parker said the defense team has not yet received documents from the state, a legal process known as discovery. Wright's next court appearance is a Dec. 30 case management conference, which is a periodic meeting between the state, the defense and the judge to discuss updates to the case.

"The waiting is the hardest part," said Annie Lisa, one of Dr. Sievers' sisters. "Wish we could wake up and this was all over or, better yet, all just a bad dream. We made it through Thanksgiving and pray God will give us comfort and hold us together for Christmas and each day going forward."

The attorney representing Mark Sievers declined to comment on the thousands of pages of public information released Tuesday that implicated his client in the homicide of his wife, Estero doctor Teresa Sievers, but did say he warned Sievers not to let his daughters watch television news reports.

"I can't comment on what was released because I haven't read any of the paperwork," Hollander, a Naples-based criminal defense attorney, said Tuesday night.

Hollander added that he called his client to advise him about the release, "He's not happy," the lawyer said.

An attorney representing Mark Sievers had no comment on the lien, claiming he'd not yet seen it.

"Mr. Sievers is still grieving the loss of his wife, the circumstances of it," said Lee Hollander. "And he's trying to raise two young girls on his own. The (Lee County) Sheriff's Office interviewed Mr. Sievers for two weeks back when his wife was murdered.

"And that was the last he's heard from them."

Mark Sievers cell phone records indicated to detectives the use of a secondary burner-type cellphone to communicate with Wright. Curtis and Mark were in daily, constant communication since 2011 until the days leading up to the murder.

Search warrants on Mark Sievers' cell phone show he was keeping notes of issues in his marriage with Teresa - including talks of divorce, lack of intimacy and harsh emotional treatment by Teresa.

Investigators downloaded deleted information from a Garmin GPS unit found in their rental car -- putting Wright and Rodgers on a road trip from that Saturday morning, leaving Missouri, to that Monday evening, returning to Missouri.

Revealed: Bombshell court documents allege doctor's cash-strapped husband hired her killers to get $4.5million in life insurance money

The affidavit indicated that Mark’s last contact with his wife was just before 11pm on June 28. She sent him a text message saying she had landed safely and was en route home.

On the morning of her return to Bonita Springs, someone had deactivated the house alarm system, according to the court documents. Bonnie Sievers, Mark's mother, was in charge of feeding the family's two dogs and a cat in their absence. She had visited the Sievers' residence three times between June 26-28, each time deactivating the alarm using a code given to her by her son. At 6.09am on June 28, the company responsible for the home security system detected that the Sievers' alarm had been deactivated with the code Bonnie Sievers had been given. But the woman would later tell police that she did not get to her son's home until later that morning and did not know how the alarm could have been deactivated, yet the residence remained secured.

Sheriff Scott speaks
“Just because Mark Sievers is not under arrest does not mean he’s not going to be arrested,” Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said. “Our timeline is typically different from general curiosity and the general curiosity of the public and certainly any other deadlines assigned by media or otherwise.”
Scott added there’s more to the case than what was presented in court documents.
“Look how patient we’ve been thus far,” he said. “Look at how this thing unfolded and how methodical and patient we’ve been. All the while in the face of the community and media and others saying ‘OMG’ what’s taking so long?”
Mark Sievers has always been in the “envelope of suspicion,” said Scott, who added that the case is not over.
“So it’s an active and ongoing investigation and we’re not bashful about making an arrest,” he said. “We have no problem arresting people, but we do so when the time is right, particularly in a case like this. There’s a great deal at stake and we want to make sure everything is correct.”

Top question: Will Mark Sievers be arrested?
8:01 p.m. EST December 2, 2015
http://www.news-press.com/story/new...odgers-estero-bonita-springs-doctor/76669924/

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said he could not comment about Mark Sievers' role, but said the investigation is ongoing.

“If they look at the total body of work it’s pretty clear we’re being very thorough,” he said but added that there are reasons for everything that is done and not done.

“The problem is we can’t discuss those reasons,” said the sheriff, who is on personal trip to Tennessee.

“We have a group of people who did so much planning on the crime itself but never planned what to do if they got caught. They were very methodical and crafty,” he said. “But there was no plan B.”

BONITA SPRINGS, FLa. -- Mark Sievers spent the day inside the Bonita Springs home where his wife Teresa was found murdered.

At one point this morning, Sievers slowly backed his Mercedes into his driveway. A few hours later, an SUV pulled into the garage before the door closed behind it. While the media is closely watching Sievers, his attorney says the Sheriff's office is "not." I asked his attorney, Lee Hollander if Mark has any restrictions on where he can go. He responded, "No because he hasn't been arrested, he's got no restrictions. I then asked if he expects Sievers to be eventually be arrested. "That I can't tell, that would be pure speculation."

The 33-page affidavit isn't proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Jimmy Ray Rodgers bludgeoned Sievers to death at her Bonita Springs home on June 28 or that her husband, Mark Sievers, put them up to it.

That's for a court of law to decide.

But in the court of public opinion, the affidavit makes a strong case all three are guilty of being technologically oblivious.

While his team of investigators continues working this open case, Sheriff Mike Scott said Mark Sievers and others remain in an envelope of suspicion.

"People now understand more why I would say such a thing given the facts and evidence that's been presented," Sheriff Scott said.

<snip>
"It's a better position for us to be in as we continue to let's just say put the finishing touches on the case," Sheriff Scott said.

The case is making national headlines as Sheriff Scott was interviewed on HLN's Nancy Grace Wednesday evening when she asked why Mark Sievers hasn't been arrested.

In the interview, Sheriff Scott said, "We have additional information to look through. We have additional evidence to work through and of course, Nancy, as a long time prosecutor, you understand the only thing more critical than making an arrest is making the arrest appropriately as such that it stands through the trials of court."

Sheriff Scott also assured NBC2 that his agency continues their investigation, but said there's no danger to the public in connection to this case.

"We're very concerned about the girls. The family is concerned and distraught," Lisa said. "We hope they're OK."

Teresa Sievers' brother Frank Longobardi said he and his mother made a surprise visit to the Sieverses' home in mid-November to see one of the girls in a play.

"Due to what had been basically limited contact with the girls, and with the contact we had, it seemed as though they were being coached," he said.

Longobardi said the two girls were rude to him and their grandmother, although they all previously had a loving, warm relationship. It seemed to him that they looked to their father for approval before speaking.

"To me, the whole situation didn't smell very right," Longobardi said.

Lisa and Longobardi said the girls seem sad, tired and despondent, a departure from their typical silly, fun behavior even in the days right after their mother was killed.

"They're not the same girls," Lisa said.
