I wonder if someone will try to sue on Duncan's behalf since he wasn't diagnosed on his first trip to the hospital?
IDK, how does that work with a person that is not a citizen?

On another note, where is this son Duncan is supposed to have had with Louise? He was not one of those in the apartment.

I thought they hadn't determined yet what exactly was the diagnosis with Dr Sacra... Possible respiratory virus but Noone knew?

Was just released two days ago from Omaha Nebraska hospital supposedly recovered fully from ebola? Who knows.

Trust me non citizens sue all the time. But I doubt Mr Duncan will do that.

I did not say it couldn't, but at the moment there is no evidence to show that it is air borne in humans, so suggesting that people on the plane have contracted Ebola via the air recycling system is misleading and ramping up the concern levels without foundation.

If you or anyone else have links to reliable sources suggesting that Ebola Zaire is or is about to become airborne in humans right now, then please post them. Otherwise, this is just scaremongering without evidence to back it up.

If people are genuinely worried about stopping this virus from mutating to become airborne, then they should be lobbying their governments to support the affected countries in Western Africa to get this outbreak under control. Not with pledges and pretty speeches, but with action and adequate supplies.

China, Uganda, Italy, France and Cuba all have organisations and teams over there helping.

Even so, countries are running out of Personal Protective Equipment, do not have enough beds etc. This is a real global threat and we need to sort it out.
I'm not scaremongering, so please don't accuse me of it. I simply asked you a legitimate question. It seems a very real possibility to me that if one strain of Ebola can mutate, so could another.

Then they are negligent. We are taught isolation technique when employed by a hospital. I've gone through so many isolation " days" in orientation, been fitted with so many N-95 respirators..
And so were nurses who were going to be working in non-direct care. We all received the same training in my experiences.

I've taken care of one patient with CJ-V disease in ICU also, and if you think that's not scary, it really is.. Death rate is 100% for those infected.
What is CJ-V? Creutzfeld- Jacobsens (sp?)

He is guilty of being a Good Samaritan. Just like the people working for organizations like Doctors Without Borders.
The difference is that Doctors without Borders are better educated and would not be in denial about it being Ebola, and they suit up and take proper precautions when handling Ebola patients as to not further spread the disease.

He's an older child and they had him together when they fled Sierra Leone. I don't know where he is though.

Where are you getting two days ago? He returned to his home in Mass on 9/25, that's over a week ago. Before that he was in Nebraska for three weeks.

Can I just say something that applies to all of us.

It says "Oxo's" on the buses (meaning an advertising slogan) but it doesn't mean you can buy them there.

In other words we're all reading many articles and who's to say any of them are correct.

Well I guess if folks are to the point that they aren't believing any news source anywhere, the point where absolutely any source, no matter how scientifically rigorous it is is greeted with "who knows?!", then we all just might as well go home and hide in our basements and wait for the end. :ohoh:

You're taking what I said the wrong way.

I have to say that is not my reading of what he is saying at all. Where does he say that we should not be doing anything?

Part of the reason the outbreak is not under control is that the rest of the world has been sitting on its' hands rather than helping to mount the campaign required to really have an impact.

He said we need to control the outbreak in Africa - that is absolutely true in my view. Closing your borders and sticking your head in the sand in the hope it all blows over is not an option.
Nobody said that to close your borders involved sticking your head in the sand. Lessening the chances of exposure by infected patients is just common sense.:notgood::sigh::shakehead:

What is CJ-V? Creutzfeld- Jacobsens (sp?)

Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease- variant type. It is a brain specific virus, and causes a wasting and disintegration of brain tissue. Always fatal, extremely rare.

There is no evidence that Duncan recognized that his neighbor had Ebola rather than problems associated with her pregnancy. But our fear drives us to ignore that fact so we can dump on a victim of this terrible disease.

They would know the country of origin because foreign travelers must have a PASSPORT and a VISA!

Of course that means that Americans could fly to other countries and then catch a plane to West Africa and return without stating where they have been (as could folks from other non-infected countries) but the likelihood of that happening is far far lower, most folks wouldn't dream of doing that unless they were on official business and then they have no need to lie about it.

Plus they could check the person's passport to see where they have been recently!

A few countries in the Middle East (Iran, Syria, etc...) will not allow folks that have visited Israel to enter, they DO check the passport for Israeli stamps before issuing a visa; if they have any doubt they check again upon entry, if your passport has an Israeli stamp your visa is cancelled and you are denied entry. I visited Iran several years ago and they have strict policies regarding such things.
Yeah, but their not allowing those who visited Israel is a political thing, not a public health issue.

I'm gonna say her red eyes probably gave it away.
