Duncan in critical condition on vent per MSNBC
Yes he outbreak first started many years ago with 1 little 2 year old.....................I think YODA had a chart she posted................years later still thousands died and are dying
Timeline of events:
February 2014 - Outbreak of a haemorrhagic illness in south-east Guinea
March 2014 - Outbreak of Ebola confirmed in south-east Guinea
Later that month, tests confirm Ebola has spread into Liberia
May 2014 - Sierra Leone confirms Ebola has spread to the Kailahun district, in the east of the country
June 2014 - MSF declares the Ebola outbreak is out of control
July 3 2014 - Death toll: Guinea, 303. Liberia, 65. Sierra Leone, 99. Total number of deaths in West Africa, 467
I am seriously starting to think we are being lied to about this.. It's a lot worse than they are telling us.. JMO

This outbreak did not start 'many years' ago. It started last December and was not finally identified as an Ebola outbreak until 24th March 2014. I think Yoda's information will have been the same as what I am going to post.
Reliable information can be found using google and reputable sources of information like the World Health Organisation website.
As Harmony said people should be backing up statements of fact with links.
This is from a UK government website and shows part of the timeline up until July

This is from the WHO: http://who.int/csr/disease/ebola/ebola-6-months/guinea-chart-big.png?ua=1
I am sorry if this sounds really prissy, but people are basing their fear (and in some cases criticism) on incorrect information which is not good.
Effective management of this needs everyone understanding the facts about this outbreak and how to deal with it.
If people want to get a great understanding of the outbreak the I cannot recommend the WHO website highly enough. There you will find FAQ, fact sheets, updates on the progression, reports on actions taken - everything!
The man was wearing a surgical mask, and the girl was not.
.CDC workers wore full body protection when they escorted the man from the rear of the plane, Schraff said
Officers with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency then collected the man's luggage, Schraff said.
An announcement was later made that the man wasn't contagious, Schraff said.
The hospital's attempt at CYA was BS!

JUST IN: Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital says the Ebola patient's electronic health records...including his travel history...were available to the full care team during his first visit to the ER...that corrects the hospital's Thursday night statement saying that there was an electronic error with recordkeeping... http://bit.ly/10qiCOj
To protect my own sanity, I will not click this link ! :scared:
I was aware of Ebola back in 1987, when Robin Cook wrote a fictional novel called Outbreak about Ebola. It was made into a TV movie called Virus. I was also posting on the earlier threads, but then when things seemed to get contained in Nigeria, the thread quieted down and I found other threads of interest. Ebola scares me because as we now know it's reached the US, any of us can be affected by being in the wrong place at the wrong time!! It's far more deadly in a short period of time than TB, the flu, colds, sars, AIDS, malaria, diptheria, or any of the other diseases mentioned in this thread.Hmm...I'm not sure talking about ebola on a forum is proof that people do or do not care. I think there's a lot of people that probably cared before it came to the US, but maybe didn't feel the need to discuss it. Then again, I'm sure there's a lot of people who could care less about ebola or any disease for that matter unless it's effecting them. I don't think some people took it very seriously because they've never been effected by such diseases and think it's just a commonality in rural countries. The fact of the matter is that it's deadly and spreading fast and if people do not care, then we will all pay the price for their apathy.
She just received a brand new secluded home, transport, and food being delivered everyday. Sure, the treatment before CDC and local government was a little slow (and incompetent, if not still so), but she has zero room to be complaining about his condition.
What she should be asking is if a miracle is going to spare her life, her children's lives, and the lives of her nephews.
JMO.
