RE: Anti-fungals

Please be aware that a fungus is neither a bacteria nor a virus! Medications aimed at killing fungi do NOT necessarily kill either bacteria or fungi!

Sometimes a doctor will prescribe both an anti-fungal and a bactericide for an infection, due to the possibility of a bacterial infection developing as a secondary infection to the original fungal infection.

Read about the ebola VIRUS. Do not think an anti-fungal will kill it.

As a retired healthcare worker, I am absolutely shocked at how very, very badly the CDC has screwed this up. They were onsite at that Dallas hospital from the very beginning of Duncan's second hospitalization. Did they not examine what PPE was being used?

The CDC are coming off as a bunch of friggin idiots! I sure hope Obama is going to appoint SOMEONE to be in charge nationally of this situation. ALL of the people who have been near to ANY of the ebola patients need to be immediately quarantined.

What is coming out today is that the Dallas nurses were NEVER properly trained in using the PPE they did have. CDC is now saying when they arrived at Dallas hospital they saw people using multiple layers of gloves and multiple layers of garb, which actually increased their risk of contamination when taking all of this off. Also, I believe he said they were "saving" certain portions of their PPE equipment.

So basically the Dallas hospital use of PPE was the huge screw up. CDC also said the second nurse should NEVER have gotten onto an airplane.
And that they will now be controlling the movement of people, using state and local health laws.

This playing catch up ball is not good, not good at all. They are talking about transferring her to Emory.

@FOX4: #Breaking #DallasEbola @texashealth actively consulting with Emory University Hospital about possibly transferring 2nd Ebola patient

Thank God. Because I could not understand why that hadn't already been done with the first nurse, considering I had thought I had seen where there was regret as to not sending Duncan there in the first place.

And does anyone know how many days the 2nd nurse was in Ohio? I'm just wondering when she flew OUT of Dallas to begin with?

That has strong religious/political implications (Hassidic burial requirements are one example).

I know that, but in this case political correctness should not be a consideration. Somebody needs to take a very strong stand on preventing an epidemic and not worry about who it might insult. I'll get off my soapbox now.

@janetstjames: BREAKING: @texashealth Dallas transferring #Ebola nurse 2 to emory.

Oh my....Obama canceling his traveling plans today and the media is speculating he is meeting with the CDC. He never/rarely cancels does he? Not trying to be political...but this is how serious things seem to be getting.

 well go figure. This is particularly relevant to me b/c he had a fund raiser scheduled this afternoon in my community. Wrecking havoc on the middle school as it's close to the hotel.

JMO I think the CDC makes recommendations, so an actual mandate of some sort would have to be federal, requiring compliance by ALL States. Maybe that is why the President is meeting with CDC today??? I hope. We just have to nip this in the bud, and obviously, the "honor system" does not address the problem. People are people. They like rules that protect them, so the rules are good for everyone else, but individuals take their own freedom much more seriously, and the rules they love, just do not apply to them. As I said, we are only human. JMO

This makes me wonder if her condition is worse than Nina Pham?

One Dallas pt going to Emery Hosp per CDC on CNN now

BBM this is what I was asking....we need to know the timeline of notification and her travel.

Don't know but would sure like to.

The CDC has lied and covered from the get go. Duncan came on a flight and those people were never followed. The second nurse who is sick was said to have flown from Cleveland but how about her flight TO Cleveland? Does anyone think this things is not airborne? Those who treated Duncan were supposed to have been monitored. They were not. The nurses union is now saying that garments with vomit diarrhea and blood were stacked to the ceiling in the hospital and his blood traveled in those tubes in the hospital without protection. There were no foot coverings on the shoes of the caregivers tracking body fluids all over the hospital. This is such a big lie and will grow worse. It will be everywhere.

They need to get to work screening blood over there in WA and find folks who can donate.

A person that has recovered from Ebola can carry the antibodies in their blood for 10 years or so, in which case they may be able to help others infected and dying. Now, that only pertains to their specific strain, in this case it's Ebolavirus Zaire. So hopefully the CDC, WHO, NIH can secure all the covered blood types and stock blood or at least keep note for a plasma donor list of some kind. Their blood type would need to be compatible with the new infected person's blood type in order for the donation to work.
