I can see that now after writing my long post. This makes no sense either to cut and paste and flip the name upside down. :banghead:

Just wondering if the original article that had that divorce paper attached even mentioned AY's name. Perhaps that's why it was blurred out and flipped. We on the internet know it, but the general public may not.

And it baffles me.. Why go to that much trouble? Unless aliases run in the 'family'?

Well it could have been the newspaper who did it if they were not going to run the article originally with his name after they got a copy of the document from the court. But then they got an interview with him so it may have been unneccesary but it was already done. Or perhaps they were protecting him by not showing his full given name.

Soooo.. has railbugfreak been verified yet?

I'm eager to hear what he has to say...

I haven't heard anything NoeticSoul.

I wonder if EB ever admitted to ever being married at all in the past. If she had, under the OZ law she would have to show divorce papers right? So either she lied and said she was never married, or she had a bogus document showing she was divorced. If it was the latter wouldn't there be Forgery charges added on to it?

If EB had been saying AY were her brother than chances are that when she married in Australia she would have lied about being married to AY to everyone.

Kinda OT but I wonder if EB ever called Adam Aaron by mistake? :floorlaugh:

brought over from Q&A for RBF no discussion thread.

EB met AB online. I was told by EB that they were talking about Zahra and Cancer as supposedly EB had cancer also and i was dumb enuf to believe it and now Im catching bull crap by strangers all because I dont have the heart to put ANYBODY in the streets. They talked for at least a year before she went to aussie

So EB had been entertaining AB online for about a year before she went to Aussie playing on her supposedly having cancer so she would have something in common to talk to AB.

Finally:

"Zahra Baker's American stepmother has been charged with bigamy."

"THE stepmother of murdered Australian girl Zahra Baker was indicted today for allegedly marrying the girl's father before divorcing her previous husband."

"Elisa Baker, whose stepdaughter’s death and dismemberment have captivated an audience worldwide, was indicted Tuesday on a bigamy charge, accused of marrying Adam Baker in Australia before divorcing her previous husband...Bigamy is a low level crime that brings little punishment. For someone like Elisa Baker, who has no felony convictions, she faces probation if convicted."

The blurred out name on the divorce paper sure does not look like AY's first name nor does the last name.

Is it possible to determine who the plaintiff is by using the court file number to see who was listed in court for that matter?

I stopped in on this thread because I read on the media thread that EB is being charged with bigamy today.

*Sigh*

I'm not encouraged by this charge. <shakes head> I find this charge to be disconcerting and alarming that it being brought forth at this particular point in time. Why this charge? Where are the charges that are for murder? Seriously my heart sunk a bit when I read that article.

JMHO.

I wonder if the bigamy charge isnt a lead in to AB being able to testify against EB or vise versa????

Can AY be chargwed withsome sort of a crime for knowing they were still married and not reporting it?

Seems like this case just keeps bringing up more questions and no answers!!! JMO

I think this is important because now neither of them can hide behind the other to keep from testifying. They won't have the protection of marriage and can be forced to give testimony against each other. JMO

Here is a question to ponder over. Not only did EB tell AB that AY was her brother, the entire family did. They also told their neighbors he was too. They guy lived across the street from them and was part of their lives. What was in it for everyone to fool AB into thinking AY was EB's brother?

My thinking is illegal drugs? Maybe to be able to keep that contact? Just a guess!!??

What is the marital priviledge law like in that state?

I know that a few states won't allow for marital priviledge when there is a crime against a child involved (not exact wording that I remember but close enough).

I have to sign off, I'll see if anyone knows that statute in that state concerning this when I check back in.

TIA for answering.

I have always heard that a spouse cannot be compelled to testify but may choose to. I do not know how a crime against a child might alter or negate that rule but I have heard that it could depending on the state. Many people think that this rule means one spouse CANNOT testify against the other but in actuality it means they cannot be forced to if they do not wish to.

Somehow I doubt that is/was going to be a problem inthis case as the B's seem to be very busy deflecting blame from one to the other. The bigamy charges and invalidation of the marriage simply makes what I perceived to be a non issue even more of one.

I think either could be inclined to use the priviledge to their advantage. Maybe not in all of their testimony but with certain questions. Theis charge insures, in my mind, that they won't have the opportunity available to them. It's more of a non-issue if when it's off the table completely IMO.

LE is right on track with this. Clearly, LE is saying the spousal privilege should not apply in this case.

This is just one more step in the process and opens up many more doors for LE. The trial promises to be very interesting.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave...
