EJ wearin a black jacket (looks too large on her) and a red/pink? scoop neck top underneath. Her hair is pulled back in a pony tail. Judge advises they are streamlining by making the jury late.
State calls Det. Harris . . . (video goes to the seal) .. . Matthew Harris - Tempe Police Dept. Det w/Special investigations - technical investigations - wiretaps, GPS tracking, cellphone data and taps survellience and telecommunications intercepts (aka wiretaps), describes his training and expertise, (they are not showing this Det. on video - keeping camera on EJ). He is in current position over 10 years. Phone records looked @ 100's in his career. 12/20/09 - received call from Commander - unable to reach his partner - needed a pin(?) register trap & trace - form of a wiretap. Not physically listening to voice conversations between parties. Just electronically collecting data between phone calls. . . data is shown to him immediately who they are calling, what cell tower they are pinging from. He was asked to trace EJ's phone thru Cricket. Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Wiretap - who to bill to as they do not do it for free, info on who is requesting wire tap, etc. He didn't do any more until he returned to work following Monday. They got in touch w/this Det's Partner . . . who was on his way over to monitor the tap to see if they could determine where EJ was located. . . phone was turned off either off or battery had died and did not get anything off that phone. on 1/4/2010 - attended meeting - got info on investigation while he was gone - provided some call detail records obtained by another Det (Campbell) his partner. Did a cell tower analysis for calls on 12/27 - from Cricket. Cell tower analysis - records come to him in an excell spreadsheet - alot looks like phone numbers - date and time, incoming and outcoming call, and cell tower data. Cell tower data to route outgoing or incoming call to the target phone. He has another list of all cell tower list - correlates cell tower with call log and uses Longitude and Latitude with Microsofts Streets and trips mapping program. Exhibit #123 - chart map he prepared for cell towers utilized on the 27th. Admitted and published. SanAntonio - east . . . each shows cell tower used, date, time and out - and who to, or in-and who it was from. Lat. & Long for cell tower. Throughout day of 27th - first call, next tower used in the calls for that tower. When you can see whole map you see progression eastbound toward Houston. Tower #92 used. Each call made

Jan 8th 2010 . . . he was asked to obtain phone records for Logan and previous phone EJ had been known to use .. . associated account between 2 parties - there were 3 phones on that account - one was used by EJ while they were together. Det. obtained certified records from phone company for Logan and EJ - from Cricket and from Verizon for TPS and Jack Smith and Janet Morris.(?)
Text message records from Cricket are unavailable - they do not retain content of text message . . . they can only say text was sent on date and time but not the content of text. Verizon does retain content of texts but it is time sensitive . . . need to get those right away as earlier texts will be purged. Only got TPs texts beginning from 12/24/09. Exhibit #35 - certified cricket records for EJ, and 3 phone #'s for Logan. admitted.
