That bombing was on 19 April 1995.

But I see people saying that today is Patriot's day. I haven't looked that up to see what it is yet though.
Patriots' Day in Massachusetts commemorates the Battles of Lexington and Concord. It's celebrated the third Monday in April.

I was in OK after the Murrah blast and saw the building less than a week later, a ghost of a building that had died in mid-air.

Yeah, same here. Does it seem to you the blood is VERY bright red. Unusually red?

Is it my monitor or are the photos being retouched? Or maybe the photos are extremely fresh?[/quote]

BBM/UBM:

Regarding the blood: From the photos/angles presented, it appears that the amount present is from 1. multiple donors and 2. arterial source. In one photo, it appears that the victim is pre-mortem. Traumatic amputations can be extremely bloody.
Timing of the photos appears to be almost instantaneous, perhaps instinctual behavior of the media folks rather than conscious thought process of "lets take a picture of the carnage".

I live here in Boston and am completely devastated. I was born and raised here. For 57 years I have enjoyed and celebrated in so many of our history's annual festivities, such as the huge Fourth of July celebration, The Marathon, the Feast of St. Anthony and so many more.

Since 9/11 I have taken a huge sigh of relief as each Holiday celebration which brings thousands of people to celebrate in our wonderful city together, comes and goes without incident. I knew this day would come, but prayed to God that it Never would.

Dr. Drew and his guests tonight shared their pain and heartache about today's actions. They don't know how to deal with their grief and neither do I. Dr. Drew said be with your loved ones and keep them close tonight.

Well I am without loved ones and sit here in shock and horror, but foremost broken hearted that so many people are dying from senseless acts such as these each and every day.

I thank you all for giving me a "safe" place to be tonight. Here with people who understand and are loving and kind. Without family or friends who live close by, I am alone with my broken heart and thankful to be here with all of you.

I am so very honored to be part of such an amazing, loving, community such as this. Please pray for all of us here in Boston as we make our way through this tragedy.

xo to all

xxoo to you pinkfairy! Websleuths is an amazing community! Prayers for you and all of Boston and all of the world. No one... no country.... deserves this kind of tragedy!

Bolded by me respectfully.

My thoughts too when I saw the pictures. Blood from an arterial source is very bright red. I saw an accident once that didn't involve an amputation but a girl was running as fast as she could and went to open a door and put her arm through the window instead. She severed an artery. Lots of bright red blood, and lots of it too in just a few seconds.

They are interviewing a first responder on CNN now. He just said something that jarred a thought. He heard the first blast and since he'd been in Iraq - he said he knew it was and IED. Then the second blast went and he said there was a third, but thankfully they were able to stop that one.

Ok, we know the first two went off less than a minute apart - so HOW did LE/Fed KNOW there was even a possible third and HOW were they able to locate it and stop it - in that short of time? Just something to think about. Could be as a simple as the third didn't detonate and they found it "later" - but wasn't there 2 more? In the chaos that follows an event like this - minutes seem like hours and to get intel enough to find and stop a third, fourth - that's pretty quick.

I haven't seen any marathons cancelled yet...
The Boston Celtics game for tomorrow was cancelled... and everything tonight was cancelled.
All the marathons appear to be going on as scheduled.

Shouldn't it be relatively easy to figure out the makeup of these bombs with the 2 that weren't detonated?
I also just heard a former FBI agent explaining how a cell phone detonates a bomb and I didn't realize you could be across the world and detonate the bomb. You just have to call the number of the cell in the bomb and it detonates. I thought you needed to be close by.

I am guessing because they were placed in "obvious" locations.
Under the grandstands, behind the announcers, in trash cans, etc.
I don't think it was intelligence, just common sense.

I also think that a bomber may have been injured, stopping the detonation...
OR the shutting off cell phone service may have done it.

bbm: my husband (active duty ltc in the army currently and also served in iraq, afghanistan, bosnia, etc) said the same thing. If this were a backpack bomb with shrapnel you would not see limbs blown off. These bombs had kapow.. not just packed with nails, etc.

I have to admit that I've cried today. When I read that a little boy of 8 years old was killed. It just breaks my heart for his family. My heart hurts for them all but he was just a little boy...

The OK Federal bldg bombing happened in April. Is there a connection?

I think both are right-wing extremist attacks. There's no confirmation (yet) that this one in Boston was done by a right-winger, but I think it's very possible:

1. Both happened on Patriot's day.
2. Both happened on - or around - Tax Day. This bombing in Boston happened ON tax day, while the one in Oklahoma City happened only two days after.
3. Most domestic terrorist attacks are committed by right-wing extremists. 56% of terrorist attacks are right-wing, 30% are done by eco-terrorists and 12% by Islamists (source: here). Also, a report from just a few months ago showed a 400% increase in the amount of right-wing attacks (source: here). Eco-terrorists don't tend to target places like marathons, and I think the timing/date of the attacks also point to a right-wing terrorist.

Also, just a note: the Waco siege also happened 4 days after tax day (on April 19th), and from what I know, Waco is something of interest for A LOT of right-wing extremists. Including Timothy McVeigh. I know very little about it, but I know it had something to do with anti-government sentiment.

Of course, this is all speculation and I could be totally wrong, so PLEASE don't take my post as fact. But what I'm seeing makes me believe it's a right-wing terrorist attack.

on the news radio (talk radio I am currently listening to.. like right now) I just heard several interviews that say races may be postponed or they will have huge warnings. I am listening live. I have no link.

When I saw them described as "small homemade bombs" I was like :what:
I don't think "small homemade bombs" kill multiple people and blow a dozen+ of limbs off! :what:
