Agree, if the kitty can be saved, go for it. But, not at the risk of human lives. Cats are different. We had a fire, and firemen in the house, our cat leapt into the arms of a fireman, and held on like a baby monkey. They gave him oxygen, and he was fine. Lived another ten years.

Our other cat, hid under the bed, and died of smoke inhalation.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $20.5 million in support for the state as the operations continue at the Champlain Towers South collapse site, said Kevin Guthrie, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

Guthrie said they will also receive an additional $4 to $5 million to help cover the costs associated with the teams and logistical resources after President Biden pledged to cover the first 30 days 100%.

"All, the families are very realistic," said Biden, earlier in his remarks. "...They're all realists ... They know that the chances are, as each day goes by, diminish slightly."
"There's still a possibility someone could be alive, someone could still be breathing, someone could be there," he added.

The President noted that many families hope to be able to at least recover the body of their loved ones to bury them.

Recovery of the remains will be critical for the mental health of the survivors. I truly hope they can find everyone in short order. Not after years of pain like the 9/11 catastrophe. A decade from now maybe, maybe the building will be rebuilt, or a park installed or something, to memorialize these poor souls.

I’m in Sarasota, FL - home to the condo that was known as Dolphin Towers.

Today I went to the park to ride and noticed a new development in progress. Take a look at these photos. They’ve “reclaimed” the land by gutting it until they reached muck and water. The roots of palmetto plants are 3’ deep. So to be able to use the land, they had to rip them out. Muck in FL is like quicksand, you sink.

Sound familiar? We’re going to build luxury apartments on a swamp. Buyer beware! Can you imagine what this will look like in 40 years? You know damn well that developer is going to push to get this project completed, before any possible changes can legally happen, to the county or state building codes.
