Why is it that schools cannot have locked doors so that no one unauthorized is allowed to just walk in? I don’t understand this.

Sandy Hook was locked like that.

There isn't a good day for a school shooting.

Mental health is the only portion of this problem we can discuss here, so I will say that the US is not the only country with mental health issues, and here in the UK it has taken me a long time to get help for my 10 year old. I worry that he may hurt his classmates, but not that he could kill and maim many of them.

If free health care to address mental health issues isn't an option, and the mere discussion of sensible gun rules leads to an all out brawl. Then we arrive here, we accept that kids will die at an alarming rate whilst attending school, we will pray for the dead and their families, we will have a moments silence and a fundraiser.

How many parents will consider having their children wear bulletproof vests to school? It is the only option left to protect the kids.
