Criminal histories for relativly minor offenses, drug use of minor drugs (the pot is the only thing confirmed, before the kids were born), legal minor by the laws of FL living with a man she seems to genuinely care about and be cared for by, women that made a few bad choices that resulted in children, stragne behavior under extreme amoutns of stress, consdiering educaion to be a waste if they are satisfied with their lives...all are very common.
I have a record for minor offenses, a drug history from before my kids were born, and admittedly after, (although I did seek help and have been clean for three years), moved in with my 25 year old bf at 15, got a job and had my daughter 2 years later, have 4 kids with 2 fathers, got my GED (although I used to get into college). Does that make me a bad person? I hope not. I am not perfect, and neither are the people we see here. They are not the Cleaver's but that doesn't make them worthy of our scorn and disrespect. Plenty of us have skeletons in our closets that the public would love to pick apart.

I do have my doubts about the gf, but those are based on gut feeling, not her education level, family situation or economic status.

Last night on NG a caller said that the girl woke up one night to them having a party. Thats the first time i have heard about that. Anyone else heard anything or know anything about that incident. I also noticed that before the grandma said that she had been in the house and there was a bathroom in the br and last night she said she had never been in the house.

Tonia I watched it last night too. I remembered a caller suggesting that the GF might have held a party while father was at work but not that the child actually woke up during a party so I went and looked for the transcript for you.

With all these various rap sheets pertaining to BOTH sides of the BIO parents, this reminds me of the case where the 2 Beautiful Okalahoma girls were gunned down. This case still pending, no clues.

Good question, I don't really know what to believe or think in this case. Maybe it's just too early. I can't help it that I don't like the "picture" presented of this home Haleigh was residing in. I would feel better if Law Enforcement were to make a statement officially clearing all family members, but things are being kept close to the vest for a good reason, I feel sure. Hopefully soon Haleigh will be found alive and well, this I continue to pray for.

You missed the point. The point isn't just foul language, which btw doesn't just "spill out" unless it's already in the glass to begin with but can be written off to stress and even overlooked tho Junior was present. The point IS if the dad had so little confidence in his gf and thought she was EITHER DUMB, OR a B,* WHY WOULD HE LEAVE HER IN CHARGE OF HIS TWO PRECIOUS CHILDREN? My point isn't to bash victims--as my earlier posts stated, and DotsEyes' so clearly illustrates, it is to hopefully LEARN or take away something from all these tragic cases. As always, JMO.

People say dumb and hurtful things all the time especially in the heat of the moment. Doesnt mean he meant what he said. He just found out his daughter was missing I personally cant find him in fault for saying hurrtful things in that heat moment. Its his daughter for peat sakes he is intitled to lose it dont ya think. Im not making excuses for him believe me but I can understand it. I know even I have said things in the heat of the moment I didnt really mean.

Different part of the state maybe. $31,000 wouldn't mean much to a metro area like Orlando and college kids as it does to people in the Satsuma area where the majority of homes are trailers.

I hope I'm not disturbing anyone when discussing demographics of the area Halliegh is from. Being from the Northwest I was wondering if the circus people off season live in that area? I remember hearing as a young woman that many people with a criminal record live amongst the carnival people and wondered if this sect of society might need looking into? Remember I'm not from those parts when responding.

No. The circus winters in Sarasota. it is about a five hour drive. Circus people and carnival people are not the same thing.

The father's excited utterance on the phone does not automatically make me think he is a rotten human being. He was tired, frantic, and in no position to think straight. I bet he is sorry for that now if not immediately after he said it. How we leapt from a distraught father, crazy with angst, to an abuser who uses his GF for a free babysitter who is too scared not to babysit, is beyond my scope of vision.

And weren't most of his assault and drug charges when he was seventeen or eighteen? I know how stupid I was at seventeen.

IMHO, GA being there is because DM with KFN has told GA to be there. It is all part of GA's new career as a donation specialist in missing childrens cases.

Everyone's family is different; different strokes for different folks. Focusing on who "normal" the families may be does nothing to help this investigation, and is more nitpicking on a personal level against the families. We don't need people picking on them here, we need to focus on the investigation and little Haleigh missing, imo.

I totally agree! I sometimes get the feeling people like to point out how "horrible" and "low class" other people's lives are to make themselves feel superior. I certainly hope this isn't the case on a thread about a sad, sad situation.

Just meaning that people whom even live under bridges can do wonderful things with their life through working hard.
This man lived on the streets with his child, in shelters, and even slept in a bathroom with his son..Through truth and honesty though, he became one of the richest men out there.
Without truth and honesty, he would be nothing.
Even those who live in the most abnormal of circumstances can still tell the truth..

People come from all walks of lives, none of us are perfect. I don't think this family are guilty because they live on a trailer park, or because there have been arrests for drugs etc. I think Misty is lying and perhaps Ronald but not because of their lifstyle do I believe that. It is an insight to who they are but if you looked at the McCanns before Madeleine went missing, who would ever have guessed they'd leave their 3 kids under the age of 4 locked in an apt in a foreign country and not only that but they are imo responsible for her demise in more ways than one. Upstanding citizens, respected doctors ha, don't make me laugh! It makes not one difference IMO.

I don't live on another planet (unless that's where the NE is? lol) but it's very hard for me to wrap my brain around this is the norm even tho I know it's true in many other places around the country.

Now that I'm seeing it so upclose & personal it's still a real eye opener for sure.

Really? I am being completely serious when I ask you, but I am surprised anyone would find these families to be normal. The long criminal histories, drug use, underage minors playing house with adult men, numerous children from different fathers, strange mannerisms and behavior, not attending school, etc, all seem very odd to me.

I'm a yankee transplant in the south. I don't think it matters where you go-there is always a socio-economic group that is less educated with its own "sub-culture". Public education in the south typically is not up to par with the rest of the country. So in some respects certain groups are even farther behind. There are also certain cultural differences in the south that have lent certain groups to not be as progressive.
They call it the "dirty south" for a reason. The public school system is awful. In my opinion it is because they continue to segregate. Not just by race but by class.
