I knew Autumn had done a better recon based on the scene photos, I am glad it was posted.

I sent this to John McMahon, the original forensic artist on this case, and the one who introduced me to Autumn Krick and he loves it. Perfect match he said.

Candidly I will tell you all that BRPD asked me to back off this case. They're happy letting the DNA sample at UNT set in line there in the hopes that someday there could be a forensic DNA match when they get around to it.

I recently contacted Identifinders International (Colleen Fitzpatrick's company) and asked them to reach out to BRPD. After a conversation with them, I am certain they can give Joy her name back in several weeks if BRPD plays ball. I know they're beginning that outreach and I hope it is productive. Colleen pretty much invented forensic genealogy so when she comes knocking, maybe you'll listen? I sure hope they do.

Finally, I want to remark on Autumn's reconstruction. It is fantastic. I've got the scene photos and she was in a lot of pain in them. My favorite thing she did was to humanize Joy and to put her in a man's shirt. That's not an exact match but closer than John's recon or anything else I've seen. Autumn, not sure if you read WS but if you do, great work!

I'm praying for you Joy! I hope 2022 is your year.

Thank you for your exceptional dedication to this case - you are wonderful!

@GatorFL Do you think they are just overwhelmed with cases? But then you'd think they'd be glad for the efforts you're making. Thanks for caring.
No. The case is 25 years old and not a priority. My efforts have clearly agitated them. At least they assigned it to a detective.

The most frustrating thing to me is that any of the forensic DNA companies could solve this in a matter of weeks but the leadership at Boca Raton Police Department does not want to engage with them. A captain there told me that they feel that UNT has the resources to solve it when they clearly do not. They've had Joy's DNA for 10 years and have not even submitted a report to BRPD or PBSO.

As frustrating as this is for us, those who don't know her but care, it has to be 1,000% more frustrating for her family and friends. What if there is someone out there looking for her? What if they've tried to find her and were met with the same attitude?

I am not at all surprised to hear BCPD's stance. I suspect they don't want to be "shown up" so to speak or "don't tell us how to do our job" kind of attitude. We all understand there are limited resource for all LE depts across the globe. Being obvious with your "leave us alone" attitude is just another way to make the public lose faith in your dept.

Thanks for your efforts here. Maybe BRPD's resistance is due to budget constraints. Are they concerned they would need to cover the costs? From what I can tell, Identifinders is often funded through true crime podcaster/youtuber fundraising efforts such as with Bibb Co. JD Daniel Armantrout, whereas Othram manages their own crowdfunding, like with Melissa Poitra. This is only a couple of examples.

I think the Boca Raton Police Department is very well funded. The city is relatively affluent.

They've admitted to me it's not budgetary reasons.

Is it just a sense of pride then? Not wanting some layperson on the internet to be instrumental in finally IDing this Doe? I don't get it. Is it possible they already know who it is and have kept quiet about it for some reason?
This and the fact that the kind of crimes they publicize are accidents, minor burglaries, etc. They avoid anything that could diminish the reputation of Boca. They are all about solving minor cases to keep their community safe. Sadly, Joy's case is not a crime at all, it was a suicide. I think they believe that solving it won't generate any positive publicity for them, so it is not a priority.

I wish they would turn it over to PBSO.

I have the case file and they don't know who she is. I even spoke with the original detective, who is now a detective elsewhere in another state. She's a cipher.

@GatorFL you've seen the PM photos. What do you think of Julieanne Bauer? I see some resemblances between JB and JN's PM photos, especially between the B&W photo and the crime scene photo.
The new photo added to NamUs made me go back to JB and compare the resemblances one more time. What's your opinion?

Joy was 5'10" so a substantial height difference and also Joy did not have a mole on her lip. It ain't her.

The BRPD report states JN is "about 5 feet 6 inches". We shouldn't rule out people by their height. Typos happen.
Also, i don't know what exactly "mole on her lip" means. I can't see a mole one JB's lip. I do see what appears to be a mole above the upper lip to the right side of the face. Moles come and go...

There are multiple references in the report that Joy is 5'10" 174#.

JN looks older than Joy also by about 10 years.

That's my point. The officer at the scene described JN as about 5'6". His visual perception was not accurate. The ME later stated JN was 5'10" and the officer update the BOLO.
How accurate is JB's height? We don't know.
(I'm 5'2", on my ID card i'm 5'4". If i ever go missing, i hope my height is not something people focus on when looking for me. :))

I believe the detective guesstimated her height while she was hanging from the lifeguard stand. She was cut down and measured at the ME's office. I'm going with the 5'10" measurement.

Having said all that I don't think her height is going to help identify her. Only forensic genealogy will at this point.
