can anyone explain to me what kind of a doctor would listen to a woman repeatedly talking about suicide and then advise he "you better make it on the first try"? Julie said that to the detective and he repeated it back because he could not believe it and I don't either. I want to see this "doc" on the stand...same one that told her 2 drinks okay with meds.

Unfortunately she refused to sign a release for that Dr. to share her records with anyone, so all we have is her version of what that Dr. told her.
I wouldn't put too much weight on her recollection of what that Dr. told her.

I don't think he told her it was ok to drink while taking lithium and I don't think he told her that she better make it on the first try. Whatever he may have said, that is her disjointed understanding of what was said.

IMHO, MOO, etc.

Well, it's not like she suddenly recovered. She's been mentally ill for years (I think I remember reading somewhere that she was hospitalized for 9 months at one point). The defense has to prove that she didn't understand right from wrong at the time she murdered her children. The interrogation tape provides fairly powerful evidence that she was out of touch with reality (after the murders). But the hardest part is the premeditation thing. I think they'll probably argue that her intent was suicide (which she repeated throughout her interrogation), and that she decided to take the kids with her for whatever reason (fear that they would inherit her disease, fear that they would be embarrassed) that in her twisted mind made evil seem "good."

OMG. She was totally disconnected IMO during interrogations. She was talking about shooting her kids so casually like she was talking about a new recipe. I think she believed it was ok to shoot/ kill them because they were mouthy and bullied her. She didn't want to go to jail or prison. Well obviously when you murder your children your going to jail or prison. This is why I think she was delusional. This makes me think she didn't know right from wrong. She was too upfront and casual telling about the events not like Casey Anthony who was a total lying murderer and not crazy!!!!

After listening to these tapes. I am convinced more than before she has fallen off her rocker!!!

I think JS had completely lost touch with reality. IMO

Trying to calculate if this is the only way, since it's nothing more than a cut and dry series of events. We'll see some volleyball here - with rebuttal.

Cannot believe the sophomore Defense attorney is asking for an acquittal. Just stick with the insanity defense ( the absence of this current argument could be used to fill paper on the appeal). This is a dangerous trial - she may get off.

I am disappointed in Parker's testimony. I noticed smiling, and some laughter once). In the eyes of the jury, his testimony, his evidence, should be representative of the complete horror and devastation caused by this event. He showed less emotion... given the time that has passed, still, and Parker addressed this in his statement to the media - he needs to ensure "his kids' voices are heard."

She may be acquitted... it is frightening to me- although I am still undecided, and I am sure the jury is in the same place, although they don't have the back of a big 42 inch flat panel tv blocking most of the visual evidence. I am still trying to determine if it merits such a decision. Still more to come... what is the general point of view here, with you guys?

Kindest regards,

The Gajonka

I think it's smart of them to rest quickly. Present the evidence and then let it simmer while Defense bumbles around trying to prove insanity.
Unfortunately for the defendant, she left a large stack of evidence piled against her insanity defense.

I'm starting to lean toward Not insane, I'm still keeping an open mind, as defense may put on a good case. I'm waiting to see.

One of the local Tampa Bay Internet news sites may have it.

WOW - good call on the defense calling Parker as a witness. I think they are well positioned... plus, Parker is military, and he will be emotionless. A jury will not understand this ( I feel we should institute a qualifying exam for jury members), so it will fill in some of the hole the defense is currently resting in. Could be short term, though, we could see a major swing... although seeing is an issue in this case,,, but that's another story, for another day.

Luv ya,

Okay have answered my own question...Hillsborough Circuit Court has public records posted of high profile cases on their website...this case is:

11-CF-001376 Julie K. Schenecker...

Every document, deposition etc. is recorded there. Very interesting. I saw that indeed Dr. Obregon is on the defense witness list so that will be big I think...along with Parker S. Also there is a neighbor of the Scheneckers who gave a deposition that in the fall Julie told her she would/could (not sure which) kill her daughter. Defense fought not to have this included but judge ruled it can come in under certain circumstances (not sure what they are). So no question next week will be interesting and should present a much better picture of what was happening in her care.

Has there been any evidence introduced yet that supports the schizophrenia diagnosis?

Prosecution hasn't presented any witnesses to touch on mental illness issues yet. Defense is up Friday, look for them to parade various mental illness experts through the witness stand.
Things should (hopefully) become clearer regarding her Mental Illness at that point.

I agree with most of what you posted. Respectfully, IMO she did know right from wrong as she lied to the gun store owner as to why she was buying the gun. If she didn't, she would have said it was to kill her kids. IMO she felt she was justified in shooting them, not only because they were disrespectful, but because she could get the ultimate revenge on PS for having a successful life. She is definitely disturbed, but extremely manipulative. Today with the stipulation, her behavior seemed to be indicative (as a smart poster wrote up thread) of a 4 year old being difficult. I think this was a very small window into what PS and the kids dealt with on a daily basis. JMV

Sad to say I do know a person who matches JS almost to a tee.....appeared crazier than the Mad Hatter himself when in fact like JS was just ripped to the gills on Rx drugs 99% of the time. Mystified and mushy mouthed could convince 99% of the population that they were innocent babe in the woods when in fact just a narcissist getting their way through smoke and mirrors.

Ok..so court in session Friday..are we in agreement? Fav foods; watch trial and and check webslueths? Someone better get a pie ready.

Still not sure of insanity. The premeditation makes me hesitate. In Colorado, we are dealing with James Holmes. He is certainly insane but doubt he will be found legally insane.

As for Friday, we are known for craft beers, but better wait until later in the day..maybe go for some of our famous Silver Grill cinnamon rolls.

I disagree. If that isn't insane I don't know what is. The terms of legally insane need to be amended or rewritten especially since we know so much more about MI.

Prosecution should rest....from DNA through to interrogation there was much evidence to support her active participation in the murder of her children.

Only rebuttal available is ''mitigating'' circumstances ((good luck with that))...as far as PS is concerned ((I don't like him much either)) whatever he has to say pfffft....it's not about him at this point. Fact is she did kill the children - even if he was a piece of egoist work to endure on a daily basis she did have a choice UNLESS the defense can prove some sort of abuse on his part as a contributing factor to her state of being. (MOO)

as far as her legal team (public defenders) -- they deserve a medal. I bet the ''team'' drew straws to see who would plead for an acquittal --

In addition to the M'Naghten test (insanity) there is another argument that is used (don't know if it applies to florida) about inability to control impulse and that might apply in this case

Going by my sons long history of 10 years of being a paranoid Schizophrenia he can fake not being mentally ill at times in order not to take his medications. He tries to hide his illness. He's good for a few hours.

He doesn't even smoke but he willingly for no reason walked into a police station to let them know he stole cigarettes from a grocery store. He was on Parole. The officer said that was not normal behavior to walk in and admit that. That took him to the emergency room on a 5150 involuntary hold. They did not arrest him because they could tell by his shaking he was having a psychotic episode. They are very educated on MI.

hugs to you and your son

he was very fortunate

I couldn't find video yet, but when I do I'll post it, til I do here is the text regarding the stipulation from the judge and JS.

From above link:

At the end of the court session today, Judge Emmett L. Battles asked Schenecker directly if she understood and agreed to the stipulation that her children, Beau and Calyx Schenecker died on Jan. 27, 2011.

Julie Schenecker initially said "I've been advised to answer yes."

Battles again asked her if she understood and she became emotional. Battles then asked her defense attorneys to take more time and counsel with their client.

After a short break, he asked again and she responded "Yes, Your Honor."

Link for afternoon video about 15-20 min. From end of video.

They left out the part about her playing games? Didn't the judge say he was not going to be playing games with her or something like that?

While I think Julie needs to be found guilty for these murders...I can't just give Parker a pass. It seems help was offered from her family and not exactly welcome...his email seems to be a real trigger for Julie as it was written just days before the murder and he says""For those who have expressed your criticism about how I'm handling the current crisis or how I parent my children … I'll write off your criticism as ignorance,” . I just can't get by his leaving the kids in the house with her. I know the defense is going to ask him about the days leading up to it and I guess he can say just about anything because everyone that knew about that time are dead.

1st time was at beginning of court this a.m.
(her attorney tried to explain it to her she was moving her mouth a lot and her attorney asked if matter could be set aside to later in the day ((took some time for that))

2nd time was at end of day
JS made her famous ""I have been advised etc"" statement

Judge cautioned her and ten minutes later

3rd time
she JS got a statement out of her mouth that was appropriate to the bench

Native to Central PA here - Middlesworth Potato chips are what I miss most. Hoagies a very close second and Snyders Cheese pop corn a close third.
Down here in FL we have "subs" - not the same at all.
Also the Pepsi tastes different up there compared to down here. It's better up there. It's the water.

Hi to both, move to Ohio! we have both. Snyders chips are the best too along with Lays!! Tastykakes are good..:seeya:

Thank you!!!

YOu and me both.....I feel their whole life was to elevate and to accentuate his--they were HIS trophy children and she was supposed to be his Trophy wife ((after all she did have an enviable job with military in the past in her own right)) but it was ''all about him''(MOO)

I understand what you are saying, but I am going to withhold judgement of him because nobody truly knew what was going on inside that house other than the 4 people who lived there. If you look at the emails that have been released, you can see where PS was trying to communicate with JS doctors and was getting the kids and the family into counseling. IMO, I don't expect people to understand what it is like to be a homicide survivor unless they are one. Same here. After all, PS served our country with seeming professionalism and grace and we owe him the benefit of the doubt on this one. JMV

I applaud you Ravyne, I know you are determined to see the stipulation interaction. Don't miss the part where the judge became noticeably angry and said "I will not play games with you" to JS.

YES

that was later in the day when she was given second opportunity to agree to the stipulations that certain facts were true ((the date of the death of the children))....when she said, ""I have been advised, etc'' and judge said whoa....not playing games here do YOU say this is is true yes or no
