If you go to the funeral home website, he's listed with lots of family pics of Chance . It seems like moms family is listed first in the obit. Not sure if that means anything , maybe they made arrangements ? I think Chance needs his own Thread . Mods ?
Also , it is a public funeral but media is not permitted. I can't copy or share from this phone. Many who never knew Chance are posting how sad they are .

If they haven't positively I'd him, how are they having the funeral? Did they I'd him but not alert the media?

Really confusing. I have never seen official ID?

That's what I'm wondering . Small comfort but at least he's getting a decent burial.

I still think they know it's Chance, but the DNA isn't matching JW

Makes you wonder especially since the obituary is "Baby Chance" with no last name.

JW may not be the father, but his family has definitely accepted Chance has his son.

I think it's strange there is no last name for poor Chance in the obit . Sending hugs and kisses to heaven .XOXO

We can only hope that JW starts lashing out at K if it turns out he isn't his son.
Or might that reason have pizzed JW off enough to hurt this baby ?

That is quite curious that no last name is listed. Is there some reason they can't confirm it's him via the match to the mother?

The body would not have been released without an identification.

I'm marking the thread "found deceased" and moving to "located".

ETA: One report says "funeral", and another says, "memorial ceremony". So which is it? This is a very unusual situation.

Some people are just pure evil. They don't have any excuses for what they do nor do they feel they need one. I'm just so very sorry that beautiful little Chance saw four eyes of evil during his short life.

IMO It's appropriate. Any child harmed or killed by a parent should no longer carry their name.

Tit just makes me feel as though Chance never belonged to anyone .

Well, I have to say, that's an incredible benefit if that's the case. I had/have employer insurance, and it would have been super nice to have a nurse visiting in my home.
Here in Sweden a nurse specialised in child care visits every newborn baby at home after the birth and there are several scheduled visits to the children's health care centre during the first 5½ years. Visits to the children's health care centre and visits to the maternal health care centre during the pregnancy are free of cost.

Same here in the UK. The midwife comes every few days to your home for a couple of weeks, then when she's happy that the baby is feeding and gaining weight, and that the mum is getting on OK, she signs over to the health visitor who dies at least one home visit and is available to call on at any time for advice. In my town there is a health clinic where you could drop in anytime and see a health visitor (who are qualified nurses). Of course KB wouldn't have bothered to go there, but the home visits are compulsory.

It looks to be a memorial ceremony only. There is no mention of burial. I suspect Chance's body has not yet been released to the family from the ME's office. I hate to say this, but Chance's body is police evidence and will likely not be released until LE is certain they have obtained all available evidence from the remains. That could take some time if they are awaiting test results, toxicology or special studies. I'm sure LE would hate to release the remains only to have to dig Chance up again later.

Ugh. We should never have to talk about the body of an infant as "evidence". It's just horrible beyond description.

I can't imagine being in that situation (of being a grandparent or aunt of a murdered child), but I'm not sure I'd want the baby named after his murderers. I think putting him to rest as Baby Chance might be one final gift and a sign of respect as much as anything.
