ETA: the state pointed out DS's mother denied Mr. Smith was abusive in any way. Witness says she would not admit that unless behind closed doors so DS's mom denying the abuse does not surprise her.

No. The *advertiser censored* magazines he purchased/traded through "other" sources; other inmates, or whoever/however these illicit materials/drugs get into the prisons.
