I don't think this case was about the ring. This couple was bound and killed ... who does ALL that for a ring? Surely Rochelle would have given up the ring in a heartbeat before letting someone who wanted it tie either of them up. No matter the value of the ring (dollar value or sentimental value), there is a point where a victim is going to say "here, just take it". Sorry for the expression, but this sure seems like overkill for a ring.

I had initially thought the female outside in the grassy area was a lookout. Two females inside and one outside ... am now wondering if this was some type of gang initiation and the female outside in the grassy area was a gang leader.

It would be odd for a first offence to be such a violent one (let alone to avoid capture for so long), but so far there is no DNA match. Does anyone know if young offenders in Florida would be required to submit DNA if they have previously been charged and convicted of a violent crime?

Going back to just the ring -- When/where was the ring bought and what records are available to staff who work there? Also, did the couple have any recent insurance dealings when they were in Florida? The ring would have probably had separate coverage under their policy so what staff may have been involved if there were insurance dealings?

If Donny and Rochelle were spotted at any store and followed home, the perps could have known the vehicle and simply walked through the community to find it. This may have been asked before and I've forgotten .. is this an adult/retirement community or are there young people who live there as well?

This couple didn't deserve this brutal end to their lives. Is a ring really worth that? Or did the culprits presume that if they had a ring like that then there would be other high value stuff at their place?

I have the impression that the couple were well off, so you would think there would have been other high value items in the condo, but all we've heard about is the ring. If so, why just the ring? Tons of people walk around with great looking rings on their hands .. but with today's knock-offs, Joe Average can't tell if a ring is worth $26 or $26,000. IMO, someone knew that particular ring was worth more than costume jewelry, tvs or miscellaneous widgets lying around the house.

Rumor has it that the couple was found tied up and bludgeoned to death. Makes me think robbery gone bad in that the couple usually wasn't there and surprised the robbers.

I'm told there used to be a security guard at the front gate, but he was let go about 8 months ago due to budget constraints.

Front gate .. left hand sporting a magnificent ring would be visible to someone on their way in and out of the gate.

Hmm ... might be a way to get the gated community to reconsider where the money goes.

Looks almost like they are wearing a " fat suit', because the upper body and shoulders seem disproportionate large for the lower body.

Hard to believe these murders took place two years ago, January 10/2013..
Where are the female poi? Could they be traveling the country looking for more victims? Did they try and sell the ring, or is someone wearing it and completely oblivious to the story behind it?

While Owens was incarcerated during the Hallandale murders (I believe), this article caused me to look up the Marks family to determine the nature of the crimes they were involved with. The first thing I found out is that "Marks" is the equivalent of "Smith" when it comes to Roma families. I did immediately hit on another arm of the Marks family that was convicted, back in the early fall, of fraud, etc. through their 'psychic' businesses. One of those convicted was Rose Marks. If you look up a photo of her, well, do you think she looks like the woman in the video near the Hallandale Beach condo murders?

Thanks for highlighting this recent crime dotr. I'm just not seeing the connection in looks here. Even if she wore a fat suit, her face is so much thinner than the woman POI in Florida.

credit cards were also taken,but never used. Female was used, as she would appear to be non-threatening to this couple.

Seems like a hire - to me, Ring was a cover up, and when the ring was broken down and sold - a bonus.

Just my thoughts.

The only thing I can find is "JAN 10: Murder of snowbirds still unsolved 3 years later" article.

What police do have however is DNA from two women. Hallandale police chief Wayne Flournoy says the DNA comes from &#8220;inside the crime scene&#8221;.

On Thursday, police unveiled a composite image of one of the women. New technology was able to use what was found in the DNA to give police an idea of what she looked like.

The DNA also showed the women were not related to each other, didn&#8217;t match anyone in the couple&#8217;s family and didn&#8217;t match any women who had access to the condo. The also found a shoe print from one of the women.

With no recent tips or leads, police released new information on Thursday, including a composite sketch of one of the women linked to the crime scene. The sketch and profile was created using a new type of DNA technology called phenotyping. The DNA profile indicated that the woman&#8217;s ancestry links to southeastern Europe, and suggests her background could be Slavic.

Police also analyzed a foot impression taken at the crime scene and found that it was an Adidas Supernova shoe that went out of production in 2002.

&#8220;A unique shoe to still be worn by someone almost 11 years later,&#8221; Flournoy said.

Despite no recent leads, Flournoy said police have a "great deal of information" and are "confident&#8221; that they can get a break in the case.
