FL FL - David 'Donny' Pichosky, 71, & Rochelle Wise, 66, Hallandale Beach, 10 Jan 2013

I’ve drawn up a timeline, based on what has been reported so far. If anyone has any additions/corrections, please feel free to change it.

It seems to me that the crucial timing would be when the neighbour saw Donny returning from grocery shopping. Was it before/during/after the unidentified female was caught on tape?

TIMELINE

9th Feb
Sometime in the morning, a neighbour saw Donny Pichosky returning from shopping (doesn’t specify time, and doesn’t mention if his wife was with him or not)

Shortly before 11:00am, a surveillance video shows a female walking along the side and back of the condo carrying something. She disappears from camera view for about 6 mins (tape skips during this time) and returns empty handed.

Rochelle and Donny were supposed to meet friends for lunch, but they didn’t turn up and calls to them were not returned.

10th Feb
Their morning newspapers were not picked up

Couple discovered dead later that day, when a neighbour with a key went to check on them.

The info below is included to support the timeline.

So, on Thursday morning the neighbor noticed that the victims' newspaper had not been picked up. And that there was a Macy's bag left outside the front door. What was in that bag ? who might have gone to the condo with that bag ? could it have been part of a ruse to get into the condo ? Were any prints found on that bag ? Did the female POIs work in the condo for someone else, or did they have a relative who lived in the condo complex ?

'One lead away': Florida police seek tips in 2013 murder of Toronto couple

snip

I'm thrilled with the advances in phenotyping, but at the same time I'm worried that it they put out an image that ends up not looking like the perpetrator then it causes people to 'discard' a possible connection. On one news video it showed that they were focused on:

- likely from Southeast or south Europe
- fair skin
- brown or black hair
- no freckles

Admittedly there would be a certain "look" for someone from the region, but it would cover quite a range of looks, wouldn't it?

- hazel or brown eyes

Bumping with repost pic. of the ring and wondering how the perps knew its 16k value, considering that it does not look that much different than other expensive diamond rings? imo.
Hopefully someone wants to make lots more $ than that, in reward money, by turning in the culprits in this despicable crime.

Wise's wedding band is also missing. Her ring (pictured below) is described as about size 6 1/2 with a platinum finish and five half carat white diamonds on the top of the ring in a half-moon shape. The ring may be engraved with "DCC" inside the band and has a size-adjustable locking mechanism located at the base of the ring. It's valued at $16,000

A $51,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 954-457-1438 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS

Hallandale Beach Police say the asphyxiation of David Pichosky, 72, and Rochelle Wise, 66, is not considered a cold case, but after exhausting potential suspect and witness lists since the grisly homicide Jan. 9, 2013, they are now turning to the public to identify this sketch.

The sketch of a woman in her 40s, is described as white and likely from Southeast Europe from regions such as Kosovo or Bosnia. She has brown/hazel eyes and brown hair

Flournoy said they are working with Toronto Police as well as the New York Police Department, based on a tip they received.

I'm feeling dejected and discouraged about this case. Will they ever solve it? This poor couple....attacked in their home. It just doesn't seem right.

Who knew they had money? Or, was it just a "random" that presumed they had money because of what they wore and where they lived? The attackers didn't make off with much based on the risk they were taking with murder. This makes me believe it was a crime of passion or "close opportunity". (i.e. someone they knew).

Hoping for justice for Donny and Rochelle.

I still think it was random, someone saw the diamond rings and followed them. Later they used a ruse to get into them home.

Bumping and noting these recent arrests. They may have traveled.

“These people are a ring … they are highly organized, they are targeting certain areas and neighbourhoods … and they are working together in order to commit these crimes,” Rudnick said.

Just noting a few similarities between this case and that of a cold case warming up in Australia, fwiw. complete speculation, imo.
An affluent and prominent woman, Jenny Moss, 69, was found asphyxiated in her home, some of her jewellery was stolen and there was no sign of forced entry.
All of her associates including workers around her building ect. were tested with no match to the Dna recovered at the scene.
The victim was seen in public prior to the discovery of her body.
Unlike the murders in Florida however, the cctv at her building were not functioning at the time.

Maybe a big stretch, but it would be interesting to see if Parabon Snapshot technology is used in the Australian case and ends up looking similar to the one developed in this case.imo.

Intrigue at Sloan’s Curve

A dispute between a Toronto businessman and a comic-book mogul escalated into allegations of hate mail, extortion and DNA theft. And it all started with tennis courts.

By Joe Castaldo

August 28, 2017
In early January, David Pichosky and Rochelle Wise had been found asphyxiated in their townhouse in Hallandale Beach, about an hour’s drive from Palm Beach. Wise had been a long-time director at the Toronto private school Peerenboom co-founded. The letters falsely claimed Peerenboom was involved in their deaths, allegedly blaming Wise for the child abuse accusation contained in the earlier round of hate mail. (The homicide investigation remains open.)

Though the deaths were quickly deemed a double homicide, no suspects emerged. Police ruled that the killings had been a targeted robbery: the apartment was untouched, and the only thing that was missing was Wise’s wedding ring. Investigators surmised that the killers likely didn’t know either Pichosky or Wise, and had seen the ring in public and followed the pair home. The ring was never found at any area pawn shop.:

Welcome to the Forward’s series on unsolved Jewish murders. The cases run across continents and class divides, and have rocked Jewish communities around the world. Click here to access the rest of the series. David “Donny” Pichosky and Rochelle Wise found each other late in life, marrying in 2009 when they were both in their sixties. Four years later — five years ago this week — the police found the bodies in their Florida home, with only one thing missing: Wise’s $16,000 platinum wedding ring.
The victims

Both Pichosky and Wise were from Toronto. She was a beloved former director of a day camp and vice-principal of the preschool at Bialik Hebrew Day School, a prominent Jewish school.

Thanks Hazel. It's so sad that this crime hasn't been solved.
And bless @dotr for checking out every possible lead in this case!

I do believe that this case will be solved.

Thanks Hazel for that excellent compilation, very interesting!

Very interesting Hazel.

I haven't had a chance to look through all of the links, but is there any indication that this women 'frequents' Florida? Does anyone know?
