IMO, although both the Pichosky and Sherman families were from Toronto, they are also very different. There is a vast disparity of wealth between the 2 families, from what I’ve read. Prior articles linked here noted that Donnie and Rochelle were solidly middle class, and appeared to have no enemies that would be motivated to murder both of them. The Shermans on the other hand, had tremendous wealth, and Barry’s litigiousness brought the couple numerous enemies - so many enemies that the list of suspects and motives is endless. I have not seen anything published that indicates that the couples knew each other or socialized. They may have ties to the same Jewish community institutions, because those institutions would serve individuals from a variety of demographics.
I have been to the area where the Pichosky/Wise condominium complex is located, and it is a very modest complex by area standards. It is not a luxury property. It is not comparable to the Sherman’s property or lifestyle. Prior posts noted that a live guard at the gate had been discontinued to budget constraints. Hallandale Beach has some depressed areas, and parts are also adjacent to areas with high crime rates. The Walmart that the victims visited is in area with a lot of crime, and I continue to think that the victims were observed there, followed and targeted. The local police may think so, because they released images of the couple in the Walmart, and asked the public if they had information.
I think that Donnie and Rochelle were the victims of an opportunistic crime that did not target them beyond identifying them as “marks” for a crime. There could be other victims of the same couple from the US, perhaps killed in a different way or simply robbed. The local police traveled to Toronto and interviewed quite a few people to try and rule out a personal motive. They also used DNA and had Parabon profiles done to try and ascertain physical appearance.
The details of exactly how Donnie and Rochelle were murdered have not been released, IIRC. As far as the Shermans are concerned, the sheer number of motives and possibilities is much greater, due to factors of wealth, family conflicts, personal litigation and constant corporate litigation.
