I’m just really sad about Kristina. Presumably she moved to FL from MI to be closer to her family [emoji24]
Kristina moved from...Michigan? Is family still there? Maybe that's where he's headed.

So, if the divorce began in 2004, LM would have been 2 or 3? Hmm....makes me wonder what this young has seen, through HIS eyes, throughout basically his entire childhood. Like others here, I'm not blaming the parents just trying to gain insight into why this may have happened. I feel terrible for this poor family..there is no good outcome for them. moo

What happens when a diabetic is low on insulin? I understand they can be sick, but deranged, confused??

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
(I know I'm way behind, sorry), a type 1 is unable to produce insulin, while a type 2 is unable to process what insulin they do produce. Type 1 is definitely more dangerous. If a T1 eats without having the necessary dosage, there is nothing to stop the blood sugar levels from skyrocketing. Short-term this can cause confusion, changes in vision, among other things, and potentially stroke. Long-term high sugar levels can cause the kidney & nerve, etc damage that you hear about.

The biggest danger, however, is when the sugar level plummets back down & goes way below healthy levels. Sometimes you can feel it coming, sometimes you can't until it's too late. (I have experienced this to a small extent in my own body - not a feeling one wants to repeat) This will definitely cause confusion, dizziness, shaking, nausea, loss of ability to function (similar to intoxication), loss of consciousness, bodily function/organ shut-down, & if not caught in time (which could be minutes), death. My neighbor across the street was found unconscious with a BS level of 14. Medics said he literally had minutes to live, & even then he was very fortunate to make it. After a good dose of D50 (magic drug) and about 15 minutes, he was pretty shaky & had a headache but othwise fine. I witnessed the whole thing & let me tell you, I am now a firm believer in just how dangerous this disease can be. He now has a pump.

The insulin pump keeps the blood sugar levels as even as possible, to avoid either of the above scenarios. It's a step above manually checking levels & self-administering shots, & is a life-saver for those who's bodies are especially difficult to regulate.

My very long & off-track way of answering your question. *not a medical professional, just someone with it in my family who wasn't aware of how it all works until it affected me directly*

Just observing but dad isn't doing any pleading? He did just lose his mother and is probably worried about his son but I wonder if they had tension. Jmo.

Sorry to disagree, but if the son had been asking his mom about living with her versus with a dad who's in LEO, it would make 100% for both parents to work together and use that to work to bring the boy home safely (mind you, not "scott free", but safely). Dad's in LEO. he would be expected to work those channels to the fullest extent possible. If the boy wanted to run to mom, she would likely be encouraged by LEO to encourage that as well. Since the boy is a POI on his dad's mother's death, him pleading with the boy to return is likely to be met with skepticism by the boy. In that case, his "pleas" would just be for the general masses, which doesn't help a darned bit to get the boy back safely without harming himself or others.

IMO, IMO, IMO!

I think that you misunderstood me. Someone claimed that the divorce took 11 (eleven) and a half years. Is that even possible?

Please see post number 293 near the middle of page 20. Hope that helps :)

As a child of divorce I can say that it was probably not the actual Holiday itself, Thursday, that might have been painful for him. It was possibly the overall situation. He is in an empty home, with grandma babysitting him. In his mind, both his parents were possibly distracted by their 'new' lives. They were innocently unaware but I still believe that he felt like 'a lone wolf.'

I think there were 'clear signs' that things were not right for quite awhile. Just because Mom says 'he was fine' does not mean he was fine. His Mom lives far away and has 3 new babies and has a whole different life. Calling your Mom and saying 'HI' is not that fulfilling for a 15 yr old that is having difficulties in school and at home and in life in general.

I think the most difficult time in my son's life was around age 15. He pretty much hated me and hubby, locked himself in his room and blasted Eminem for endless hours---but he did still 'need us' to be there--down the hall. It is a tumultuous time.

I say that as a child of divorce and remember still how painful it was--especially for my younger brother. A lot of 'ugly, messy' issues are revealed and it haunts a child to have to see those things about those who you love and rely upon. And you may feel abandoned and alone, in spite of them saying they love you.

I know plenty of kids that live through divorced families and do fine with it. But a lot has to do with how the families deal with it and how they care for and nurture their child. When one parent moves out of state and has a few new children it can be very stressful--especially if the child is not thriving in the other home. JMO
Your lone wolf comment reminds me of his fb post.

My Mother was a diabetic, and she always had to keep her insulin in the fridge. Always kept refrigerated, no matter what. When traveling she kept it in those insulated lunch bags, w/packs of ice.

So what I'm thinking is this young man is going to have to be stopping a long the way for ice, and hopefully someone will recognize him.

Another thought...if it's sold 'over the counter', is it refrigerated? I don't get that?????

Yes, insulin is kept in a refrigerator at Walmart pharmacies.

Here on her LinkedIn you can see from her work history that she lived in MI until at least 2010.

https://www.linkedin.com/in/kristina-french-7a727871

Someone else here mentioned it earlier as well, so perhaps they read it in an article.

This article states she moved into her current home only about a week ago, but she must have been in FL for longer. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.acti...-continues-for-her-and-her-grandson/652723152

A public records search in Duval indicates she's lived in Jax longer. In 4/2016 a ticket she received showed the same vehicle as is missing, a FL drivers license (meaning residence was established) and a Jax Beach address (at a property owned by her son, if I am not mistaken). According to her FB page going back to 2010, she envisioned a house in FL and one “up north” - I assume "up north" to be Michigan, based on her friends/family in that area.

Yes, when my father (and several years earlier, my cat) required insulin that was sold "OTC", it had to be picked up from the pharmacy where it was refrigerated. I was never required to show ID to pick up OTC insulin, but I did have to go to the pharmacy to obtain it.

Yep, it appears to be the case here. Sadly.

I think that's conjecture. When I reviewed the same public records, it appears the divorce was filed in 12/2004, and there is a final judgment in late 2007. The rest all seems to relate to child support, child custody, and child care. That means that the divorce itself was probably final with the "final judgment:. But in Florida, the child related items are still associated to the original case. Need a FL attorney (or local news pulling the full record) to confirm the actual timeline. Either way, the parents were divorcing when the boy was very young, it took a while, then they continued to contest various child care items in the courts until 2016. Still, those things included reference to a dispute about private school care, which tells me that the parents were not pushing him away, but perhaps arguing about what was best for the boy. MOO; would prefer to have a confirmed FL family law attorney weigh in versus us speculate.

I never claimed that the divorce took 11 1/2 years. What I said was that the divorce and post decree actions went on for 11 1/2 years.

More confirmation
