So as per his charges of lying to a federal agent, I have to wonder what the lies were.

Personally IMO, I think he lied about how him and Leila met (back in Alabama when she turned up at his house). I think he probably told the FBI the same story.

I don’t think that’s how they met at all! I think she came across his page, he offered her a job as his “apprentice” but when she turned up, he isn’t what she expected him to be and the job offer turned out to be too good to be true.

She saw someone who turned from placid to angry at the drop of a hat and it made her uncomfortable. While she is vulnerable, she isn’t as vulnerable or naive as the other girls he previously “hired” and she called him out on his BS, which he didn’t liked, and he snapped!

All JMO!
Yeah to be honest I think this is the cops making a power move or a way to buy more time before filing formal charges. IME working in criminal law, prosecutors usually wont bother charging someone for lying unless the circumstances are particularly egregious because I mean criminals literally lie to the cops everyday. Law enforcement is totally within their rights to do so but IME its rare and either to parlay it into something else or to send a nice little screw you to the suspect. But obviously I havent read the case file so im not 100% confident

It might be hard getting a high bail for lying to investigators. I hope a judge can understand how dangerous he is, and find a way to keep him on ice for awhile.
Thats what I was thinking too. He seems to have a cash flow, but who knows how much he has.

I really hope they are able to get a search warrant for his phone data. His location after Leila's disappearance would be interesting.

It doesn’t have to be high bail. It can just be no bail at all. There is no constitutional right to bail and based on what’s gone on here, that appears to be why he was booked the way he was. These charges are likely placeholders while the DA can file locally.

Yay!! I believe this is the first step towards finding out what really happened to Leila. SR's lying wasn't shocking, I think anyone watching his dramatic 'I'm innocent' video would understand immediately.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to end well for Leila and that really breaks my heart. I see a young, single mother who did genuinely love her child (wearing masks, etc.) and was going through a very difficult time. She and Kam always appeared clean, neat, well fed, etc.

MOO

All MOO, because for whatever reason I still believe this SR guy is mostly innocent, because he seemed to really care about her when he was recounting how he took care of her. Although, this is just a 1 sided story. However, in that 50 minute video, to me, it seemed like he lied about the truck. Something about him telling that part of his story made me uncomfortable. Even if he did give her the cash for the truck, if I remember correctly, he said he moved it to the Walmart parking lot? IMO something about him moving it seemed off.

I feel sorry for the LE that have to deal with him and question him. Can you imagine?

I hope this results in finding Leila. I can't decide if he really had concern for her, or if he was preying on her, or what their relationship even was.

I was thinking they already had his cell phone data, and they found evidence that contradicts his story. Or maybe that's how they found him. He seemed to be all over the place and in the video said he was in Tennesee at the end. I'm thinking he was on the run.

Either way, I bet they found a lot of evidence that disputes his story. I never believed she got into another car at the gas station and it was clear that LE were not interested in information about a black car with two men.

Imo

Agree. There was something a little confusing about that. I'd have to listen again. He seemed to contradict himself about where the truck was, where he was "sleeping" or something..... I think he originally said he moved it to Walmart, but then he also said he woke up and saw her getting into the car with the men at the gas station?

As someone (or maybe more than one) has said here, I think she will be found in the Everglades. Or not found in the Everglades. I think his phone may ping there or there may be evidence on the truck that the truck itself was there. He wanted to put himself there for a reason.

Did he ever say that he actually made it to the Everglades?

Ohh I didnt know they already had it!! Thats good then!

IMO... Unfortunately it is hard to find anyone in the Everglades due to all the alligators. This is why it is a dumping ground
