It appears so. From the Florida Star web site:

Same story; no body-> child carjacked, stick to original story. Too many hot days have now gone by and COD may be hard to pin down if not impossible. Should body be found, then 'accidental' death and disposed of body in a panic "because of my criminal history LE would never have believed me".... My nausea level rises daily.

She said Ebron is in isolation and not able to speak with other inmates and was in handcuffs and leg chains when he was interviewed with an officer present.

He wants the baby found and wants to see Lonzie’s mother, Lonna Lauramore, McLaughlin said. He also said he was warned about Chris Barton, the boy’s father

“Her mother warned them that they should be careful, that he would find out where they lived,” Ebron told the publisher and reporter Dan Evans about the elder Barton.

He told the Star the 5-year-old was left with his roommate and wanted to stay there. Lonzie, he told the paper, was asleep in the car.

*Please note that*:

McLaughlin said Ebron spoke to the paper on the condition that they report only what he said. McLaughlin said that is the policy of the paper, which she said provides trust.

“That’s why he agreed to talk with us,” she said. “We wrote it in the paper. We didn’t challenge him with anything.

So the paper isn't claiming what Ebron said is necessarily true, just that they quoted what he said.

Okay, hold on, so his roommate was there in the apt. I guess the roommate doesn't have a cellphone for Ebron to use to call 911, hm, and leaving her in the apt, takes out a witness of seeing the car drive off. Well, maybe him driving the car off, parking it, and running back to the apt? Initially WRE said that the little girl ran into the apt because she was afraid. Did he then leave her with the roommate or is this another story change?

I think there is always some truth in the lies. I think the story of the 5yr old getting scared and getting out of the car to go find WRE happened much earlier in the evening and by the time she found him, Lonzie may have perished in the heat in the car. Then the phone got powered down and things started happening from there. So where was the phone when it was powered down? Do we know this?
